Been a nurse for 5 years and I still watch videos like these, aha. Love the haul! I recommend mints (love the peppermint ones to take while studying or during tests, they say it helps with brain function) and mini sharpie to hang on your badge reel to easily label things during clinicals.
@@aperson2896 You know your strengths and weaknesses. I worked part time during my practical and professional nursing programs. I started my professional nursing program while working full time but resigned and found a part time job. Working full time was too much at the time.
Congratulations!! I’ve been a nurse for one year now and my best advice is record your lectures. I would type up my instructors lectures word for word (or I’d let google do that voice text thing) and then put it into an outline format. Then I would study the hell out of that. Good luck!!

I’m taking my pre-reqs now, but I have started buying some of my supplies as I’ve heard it can get expensive. I have the same backpack that you’re using as your clinical bag & I love it! Just a suggestion for anyone (or even you) that may be interested- I found that I prefer the composition notebooks over spiral cause they don’t get stuck together in my bag when I go to grab one out. And I highly recommend gel highlighters! You either love them or hate them, but I love them! Sharpie brand is the best, and my fav thing is they DONT BLEED! Congrats and good luck!

I swear by planners! Nursing school is super fast paced and you’ll have so many projects, tests, clinicals & life events to keep track of, take it from me lol. Great video!

First, congrats on being accepted into nursing school! I am currently in nursing school and it’s hard. Please do not let it overwhelm you. Something I recommend getting is a book stand. It doesn’t strain your neck and eyes as much when you’re reading or making notes. Good luck!
Lots of people really love sketchers for clinical shoes, I have Clark’s Un Loops and I initially bought Sketchers but I returned them because they felt too soft. Un loops are cheaper in the UK so I could justify it, but they’re really good sturdy, structured shoes. But sketchers seem like a good option, speaking to so many student midwives people tend to like them
I have the same bag for clinicals! I love it. The front pocket is my hygiene pocket. I put deodorant, body wipes, soap, etc in it for those 12 hour clinical days!

Loved this video. Subscribing! I got accepted into the nursing program and will be starting at the end of August. My school actually requires the nursing students to purchase a nursing kit (clinical bag) through them; it comes with the essentials for clinical for the students. I really love the first bag you showed (the one that you are using for your clinicals). I am thinking about purchasing it as my every day book bag since we are given a clinical bag. Do you think it would make a good book bag in nursing school? Also, I am using my iPad and apple pencil as my method of note taking. And also, it would store everything from powerpoints, notes, books, etc. in 1 location -- the iPad. I don't want to carry a lot of material around, so I am doing this method to prevent it from happening. This would be my first time doing this, so i hope it works out. Also, my hopes is to purchase all ebooks (it's cheaper than actual textbooks) or purchase mostly ebooks and then purchase select textbooks. My school gives us 3 bundle options: all textbooks, all digital, or mostly digital with some textbooks. What are you doing as far textbooks? Are you using textbooks or ebooks?
I absolutely love that bag! Definitely worth every penny I thought to actually buy another one. For traveling nursing school future diaper bag etc. Also I used to do everything ebook on an iPad pro , I liked it but I think I prefer to have paper notes I just learn better writing things out I think
No list. I just purchased what a friend recommended from the same school and program she already finished school. But alot of the stuff I found was other RU-vid videos also!
I am in nursing school right now and the app Goodnotes has saved me!! I was opposed to it at first because I love writing things down on paper, but once you get the hang of the app, it's a life saver! I also utilize the white board idea too and sometimes I will laminate regular white paper and then while in class, I can treat it like a white board. Same goes for my ipad and goodnotes, you can treat it like a white board as well! Anyway, best of luck!! my advice is to start watching RegisterednurseRN on youtube, which you may already do. She has videos on how to take the exams in nursing school and I wish someone would have told me that before my first exam! Best of luck girl, you will make a wonderful nurse!!

I am starting my first nursing semester in August and I want to use my iPad and apple pencil as my way of taking notes, so I am happy you mentioned that. I was wondering if you also have your textbooks on your iPad as ebooks? I am thinking about purchasing all digital textbooks, so i can carry as little as possible to school rather than having a bunch of textbooks to carry around. Also, what shoes do you wear for clinical? Thank you.
Also I am usually a 6 1/2 which is what I ordered but I wish that I had ordered a 7 in the white Skechers because of the compression socks. (I clearly completely forgot about that). I am not in the program yet but I wanted to have everything and be ready so that was one less thing off my check list.
you might want to look into the clove nursing shoes, they are fairly expensive but they have lots of benefits and they were make for the healthcare environment
I've heard so many good things about those. I can still use them for work too. I'm a clinical assistant in the ER and I'm sure I'll use the heck out of them
Idk if you already started I just finished nursing school . In all honesty I feel like you should try to take just what you need and what you can carry on you . A bag can end up being a lot to take care of and you have to see if they have a place for you to put a bag.
Best of luck on your journey 🙏🏾 i suggest taking a look at boostgrade.info so you get an idea of what nursing tests look like and how questions are worded. Learn normal vital sign ranges and lab values from now because you are going to have to know them your entire career, and it’s one less thing you have to cram once you start nursing school. If you already have those down pack, then when you start you can really hone in on just the pathophysiology of the different disease processes and your nursing interventions. If you can squeeze in some pharmacology too even better. These are things no one told me when i began last year, and really wish they did. Staying ahead will put you in a position to win :-) you absolutely won’t regret it. You’re going to do great! All the best 💛

I know this is such a weird question, but does anyone's stethoscope have a really strong rubbery smell? Do all littmanns have it? I got an all black littmann from amazon and it has a really strong smell, just wondering if its normal!

So far it has been great I am night classes do class doesn't start until 5 and that's worked really well for me. So far things are going good and I'm alot less worried than I first was! I'm sure you'll do great,💗
