Thanks for the info. I had my gallbladder out in 2000, and fortunately, I never had a problem until this past year when I turned 76. Because I never had a problem, I just forgot that I didn't have my gallbladder, but now, I am dealing with digestive problems, so I will try your suggestions. Thanks for your service to the community.
I don't have a gall ladder; I take an OX Bile capsule of 125mg 1-hr 30min after a meal. It cleared up my gut problems. I learned this on RU-vid after suffering for over 20 years. My past physicians had no knowledge of this remedy. And I am an a Keto low carb diet.
I've been on Keto for 2 years without a gallbladder...6 months on Carnivore for six months now.....I lost 70 lbs ...ditched all heart meds blood pressure meds and feel like a 20 year younger man....
I haven’t had a gallbladder since 1999, I’ve done keto successfully and I feel better on it than not because of my insulin resistance, cravings etc.. BUT!!😂 I put lemon juice in almost every glass of water that I drink in a day, which I believe helps with digestion and keeping my bile flowing Lol 😂kind of like what ACV does.. I also make sure I eat plenty of green vegetables and good fats like avocado when I do keto. I have started carb cycling lately with my period, and I feel great!! Doctor Beth is so awesome,😍 she helped me so much a year ago when I got my Dutch test! She set me up on a great path! My hormones were screwed up, I was estrogen dominant, PCOS, high cortisol, not sleeping etc.. just by focusing on our hormones, as women it could totally change any issues we have with our bodies❤ Thanks again Dr Beth!!! ❤🙏🏼❤
Thank you soooo much! I had my gallbladder out 13 years ago and was never instructed how to eat afterwards. Luckily I try to eat healthy and balanced anyway, but I still have pain in my gallbladder/liver area. Doc doesn't seem to give a flip. So I'm on my own. I will definitely use these tips.
I just signed up on the waitlist and filled out the survey. All my gallbladder attacks happened when I was in postpartum stage after pregnancy. I ended up getting mine out because it was blocking my bile duct. I wish I would have known how to better support my gallbladder and liver before but here I am now. Looking to support my liver and digestion and hormone health!❤
@@DrBethWestie I have Crohns so I’ve always been on a low sugar diet. No sodas or alcohol drinks. Only hibiscus tea sweetened with the smallest amount of coconut palm sugar or water or an occasional homemade lemonade/limeade. My question is the ACV drink… my Dentist has strongly advised against it and recommended ACV capsules instead. What is your take on that for my gut? Is the ACV capsule just as good? I JUST had my gallbladder removed yesterday morning due to “a bag full of rocks” as my PCP so eloquently put it.😂
@@JustMe-oi9ms I dilute my ACV in a large cup of water, you can do 12-16 ounces and drink through straw for extra enamel protection! If you would like to take the capsules, you absolutely can but I have found they tend to be less effective for me personally.
I had my gallbladder removed back in the eighties and have the scare to prove it. Thank you. I am 69yrs old and have never been told anything like this.
Hello Dr. Westie from our farm in Central ⛵⛵ Lakes Region New Hampshire. Good advice.- I had my gallbladder removed in October 2023. Fortunately my hospital. Shout out to New London Hospital in New London , NH. worked with me closely during my recovery. My gallbladder was in such a state, it tried to take out my pancreas and liver with it, including giving me a raging blood infection. 17 days in hospital. Discharge gave me a basic foods list of Do's and Don'ts, followed by my PCP ( same hospital) referring me to the hospital dietitian. Lynda was great! She put me on a modified Mediterranean diet, that omitted red meat, limited fats, no fried foods, no caffeine, which includes no chocolate and a host of other specific food advice. My fat budget is 40-50 grams a day. I can have white turkey/chicken, seafood/fish, tofu. Aged cheeses and lactose free-fat free dairy ok. No alcohol, etc. 11 months later this has worked! I like A.C.V as a drink or on a " steamed " salad. I substituted vegan breakfast strips instead of bacon, carob for chocolate and on and on. Lots of ferments, sauerkraut, kefir, yogurt, sourdough. Life is good :-)
I was seeing a chiropractor for 9 months with right shoulder issues with no relief. 3 weeks ago I had to have emergency gallbladder surgery ie: sepsis, inflamed, absolutely worst pain ever. That said, I have not had any shoulder pain since. Huh! Thanks for the clarification!
Hi there, I just tuned in to your (eating without a gallbladder) segment and I must say you really, really enlighten me. Thank you for this information. I did have my gallbladder removed and I'm still having a residual pain as if I still have it. I have a lot of things are going on with me, but thank you so much. I've been wanting to get in the habit of taking ACV. I will continue to follow you.
I had my gallbladder out in the early 90s, when I was in my 20s. I’m now in my 50s, and I was about 100 lbs overweight. I found out I have a genetic disease (EDS) and was encouraged to work with a nutritionist to modify a keto diet to work for me. I have lost 70 lbs. My constipation issues are a bit better since I upped my water, vitamin C, natural fiber, and Licorice root. Walking is a must, too, even a short one after a meal. I’m not saying that you’re wrong, and your advice might work for some, but every body is unique and everyone needs to try things out, and work with someone who’s willing to go “off the textbook” to help find what works for one’s one-of-a-kind body. (I’ve been doing modified keto (more plant-based proteins helps a lot) for 1.5 years and I continually have to modify things. However, eating too many carbs is a real no-no for me. I eat a lot less processed foods and a lot more fruits and mostly veg. That, in and of itself, is probably the best change anyone can make. Refined sugar is in almost everything and we don’t even know it!
Thank you Dr Beth. I have no gall bladder, pancreatic insufficiency due to complications from liver surgery. I have Caroli disease and had half my liver removed back in 2011. My gut has been in turmoil ever since. I was told to eat FODMAP but even that is not really working. Your advice to eat a combo of protein, fat and carbs reminds me of the Med WOE. I have subscribed and will watch more soon. I take a probiotic daily and eat lots of fruit and veges. Grains, seeds and nuts seem to upset my stomach though. Brazil Nuts are ok.once again, thank you. ❤
I have no gall bladder , removed 1990 , all sorts of prob since ,.mainly constipation . Doctors keep relling us that we dont need our gallbladder , im sure many people will agree with me that youDO need your gallbladder . No advice before or after removal . 🤨
I find that carbs are the worst. Especially pasta and bread are very hard to digest. I prefer a light rye bread. Beans are also very bad for no gallbladder. Also people with gallbladder issues or no gallbladder should avoid processed foods they're very bad for you. The best way to go is low carb with some fatty foods like meat but not as much meat as you would have on a keto diet but enough and you should stick to chicken breast and fish mostly. You can have some beef and pork but keep it to once a week. Make sure to get your iron and vitamin B12 checked out . As for fruits and vegetables you need to figure out which ones upset your tummy and stick with the ones that don't. It's a matter of figuring out what foods that hurt you and keep them out of your diet. For example: I can eat garlic but not onions, I can eat celery but I can't eat peas, no green beans, no corn plus I can eat fruit without the skin. For example apples cause heartburn, bananas do not, avocados are also good, I drink orange juice every day 1/2 cup three to 4 times a day. Ginger tea with lemon juice and a little sugar is good after a meal but don't make it too strong at first. Do not eat junk food like popcorn, chips, chocolat, and candy. What I buy for my sweet tooth is real licorice , ice cream but you need to go with the one without all the extra garbage in it. You can also make your own because they put so much junk in ice cream these days. If you drink milk, drink the fatty milk at least the 3.25% or more. Don't eat margarine eat butter and eat the one that is salted plus make sure the ingredients are only cream and salt. Country churned butter is better. Beware of fried foods. Frying is not the same as sauteeing and be careful with oils like canola, vegetable oils , palm oil, all oils are bad for you except real virgin coconut oil or olive oil but be careful which olive oil you buy, many are fake. You can lightly cook in butter. No pastries either, it's ok sometimes. Good luck ladies! Like I said " it's a matter of also figuring out what does and doesn't hurt your tummy" For heartburn us one cup of water with one teaspoon baking soda ( not baking powder) baking soda and you must sip it. You don't need to drink it all if you feel better after half the cup you can put it aside for later just in case but throw it out same night or day. If you drink it to fast you might get diarrhea. You also need to do your own research on bile salts, they're not for everyone. Sometimes just tweeking your diet does wonders.
@@joanneclark8256fish , chicken breast maybe some rump or fillet steak once or twice a week. 30g isn’t a large amount you can achieve this realistically
Thank you for posting this . I thought I was going mad . You have just listed all the things I find hard to eat. Weight gain for me also that I can't loose
My lower back hurt so badly I drove myself to the ER. I was diagnosed with a large gallstone. They did an emergency surgery and removed my gallbladder. I’m all messed up. My lower back pain is severe and I’m going back to my doctor because something is terribly wrong.
i had polyps in my gallbladder and had it removed December 2023. its now July 2024 and i cant lose weight for the life of me. my stomach looks so bloated, double chin wont go away and i have been drinking plenty of water, eating decent for the most part, and exercising. I am desperate to lose this weight so i will try these 3 tips and come back to update my review.
I may need my gallbladder removed this year.. I have a polyp that is growing too fast, if it is measured at 10mm in August the Dr wants it removed to prevent it turning cancerous as I have had previous cancer 10 years ago, so this video is very useful for me. Thankyou.
What EVERYONE needs to be aware of after having their gallbladder removed, when I say follow a low-fat diet, FOLLOW A LOW-FAT diet. I ended up with fatty liver disease because my surgeon told me, after a few weeks, I would be able to eat like normal. LIE! When I found out I had a fatty liver, I almost broke down. I feared death was coming. It was at this point I started intermittent fasting, following a low-fat/low-carb regimen, along with exercise. I was able to reverse my fatty liver. Without your gallbladder, your normal life ends. Welcome to a brand new world. Change. Get used it. I have ACV every night around 11pm, daily. I have lost over 51+ lbs. since my fatty liver diagnosis. I NEVER want that to happen again. Good luck everyone.
@JaredMerlin I have gone through exactly as you describe and do exactly what you do also BUT you must take a good quality digestive enzyme when you have no gallbladder, no ifs and or buts!
Why don’t doctors give a gall bladder info sheet when being released at hospital after removal of GB? Or talk about the “after you go home” chat? How hard would it be to suggest ASV /lemon / ginger/ honey drink - by a nurse? They are in there turning off IV alarms? I never thought getting out my GB was a total cure, but 5 ER visits in 6 months? Level 8 pain! They took my GB out THEN did an obstruction procedure next day! I think they should have done the obstruction and left my gall bladder alone! Sent me home with ACV recipe, diet change and saved me all the agony of this life without a GB! Very happy to share my comment so others will take your advice! This is no quality of life. You can read several comments and tell most patients doctors just don’t care. They have so many patient’s needs to listen to and just have RUN out the door! Wake Up everyone! You are on your own to find and be proactive about your quality of life AFTER your GB is removed. If you don’t - you’ll be back in for duct obstruction procedures, liver disease, dehydration, shoulder/ back pain …….. Wake- Up!
@@DrBethWestiewhy do you not recommend digestive enzymes?! I've learned after suffering for years digestive enzymes are crucial after gallbladder removal... I use whole food vitamins/supplements to support my body along with digestive enzymes when I eat 😊
Hi there! I totally agree--digestive enzymes are a wonderful tool if you don't have a gallbladder! I absolutely recommend taking them, and I may speak more on them in future videos. :)@@allison471
@kazziewoo- I had my gallbladder out last October. My hospital set me up with the dietitian. That helped. Also I recommend a book entitled 2024 NO GALLBLADDER DIET COOKBOOK by Nancy Johnson. I stay away fro red meat, cold cuts/deli, processed foods, fried foods, any corn products, especially pop corn, chocolate. I use carob chips instead. I have great luck with lactose free dairy products. Can eat aged cheese and parmesan. Best of luck! ~ Diane
Arobinsdog1- I had my gallbladder out in October 2023. I recommend the book 2024 NO GALLBLADDER DIET COOKBOOK by Nancy Johnson. I omit red meat. This should be a good starting point. I tolerate lactose free /fat free dairy. Good luck! ~ Diane - P. S. Dr. Westie also makes sense.
@@dianehall5345 i was never right after my gallbladder was removed and I have since been diagnosed with diabetes type 2. I wish I had never had it out now. Xx
I have no gallbladder and I gained so much so fast. I still have issues. I hate it. I want to lose weight and work out more. Just want to eat the correct way.
I had my GB removed 13 years ago. Been Carnivore for 4 years, eat bacon 5 days a week. I never had a problem after I had mine out. I was low fat most all my life which does not require bile for digestion and then he bile doesn't get used up and just sits in the bladder and turns to stones.
I had my gall bladder out at 19 yrs old (in 1999). I had a gall bladder spasm in January, had a biliary scan in March where it couldn’t contract as it was working at 17%, in July I had it out. I was given no information about diet or health care at that time. I’m just learning about all of this now. I feel so silly…
I do not have a gallbladder and I have been a keto/intermittent fasting girl for 1 year. I do have to visit the bathroom within 10 min after eating and I do “sometimes” have diarrhea but normally I have regular BM’s. I do not eat fast food. After menopause, I gained 45lbs and going Keto, I lost all the weight within 4 months and a year later the weight is still off:)
I'm glad things are working for you! Let me know if you have any questions- sometimes Keto can bring on unwanted hormonal issues due to the body not receiving adequate carb intake. I do have a few videos on this here on YT if you need them!
Got my GB removed in january via open surgery since then, my only problem is that my stool is always hard like im constipated, what i do to address that is to increase my fiber intake and plenty of water. Also the back pain on my right shoulder never went away. Lastly i started losing hair like 50-100 strands everyday
3:00 YES! I just had emergency lap chole last week, and apparently I've had gallstones for months, nearly 7 months. I didn't know at first, because my first symptom was sharp pain on my right lower back, which then spread to the waist. I thought I was just having lower back pain from sitting too long (work). Every time the pain occurred, i got painkiller medication, the pain was gone; but then it would be recurring every month. But i always thought it was just low back pain. I had no idea that my illness was actually coming from my gallbladder. How would I know, the gallbladder is in the stomach area right? 😅 But then a specialist doctor finally told me to get my stomach area checked with ultra sound scan after I was in the ER asking for low back pain medication for the 4th time; he said there's no way a back pain could be recurring. So finally the ultrasound scan confirmed that i did have gallstones, not low back pain.
Hi Dr.Beth I had my gallbladder removed when I was 16 I'm 35 now, never had much trouble or I thought I didn't , sometimes I have acidic diarrhea, that I believe comes from bile malabsorption, it happens if I fast too long or after a first meal, after some research I believe SIBO can be the culprit, I tried digestive enzymes from Solgar that contain ox bile, but that also cause me diarrhea, not always. One of my concerns is the absorbtion of liposoluble vitamins, should I take it in liquid form to be absorbed better. Thank you
If you have diorrhea, try the pancreatic enzymes on their own without the ox bile. You can buy them in one capsule, amilase-lipase-protease, any brand, no prescription needed.
Thank you. My liver dumped gall into my small intestine and it felt like so much pain. I put a heating pad on it and did lymph massage under my rib charge. I like Rite-Aids generic simethicone best. Not Gas-X just doesn’t work for me. I will try some of your suggestions.
Since enzymes and digestion is compromised, why not add,Pure, digestion enzymes, and amino acids, collagen, multi complex, too help keep the nutrition, stuck to your bodys lifes bones, now!Take care!Just sharing!
I did keto many years ago and lost weight. Tried it against several years ago and gained 8 lbs. Fats dont bother me. I eat EVO. I dont have a gallbladder since the 80's. I'm looking at the mediterranean way of eating. I haven't eaten beans or carbs in a while. But this hasn't helped. I need to lose some weight. Walking severel times a week and not losing any weight. I feel great though 😊 Any suggestions?
I would recommend doing a DUTCH hormone test, so we can see exactly what your system is doing, especially your cortisol levels and methylation pathways
I had my gallbladder removed on 2.15.23. I am now having heartburn so painful I moan and cry. Today and last Tuesday I also had nausea. I am a 62 years old female. Please tell me this pain will stop very soon!
I'm dealing with the same thing! I got my gallbladder removed about a year and half ago and just in the past month started having heartburn. I'm going back to the gastroenterologist in a few weeks. Hopefully they can help me 😞
Had mine out on 21/05/23 this year by Cholecystectomy. Was OK for about 5 weeks then I started awakening at 3.00 am every morning with ache on right side. Because I was in pain when sleeping when I awake I have a headache. Feel tired every afternoon as I'm not sleeping properly. My skin and scalp have also become very dry and itchy and feel anxious a lot. Have to see Consultant in three weeks. I had acid reflux before op as have a Hiatus Hernia but acid worse now, on Esomeprazole. Worry in case I end up with stomach ulcers or cancer because of increased acid. Wish Dr had only removed stones instead of whole gallbladder.
Thank you, so informative, and helpful, ox bile is just not enough, Thorne research makes a great 3-1 enzyme, not recommended for anyone allergic to porcine, called, Dipan-9, ( breaks down proteins, dairy, and fats) we appreciate any help in this fight, god bless you.❤
I had my gallbladder removed 3 years ago and I have been suffering with bloating ,gas, diarrhea, constipation and Anemia idk if the anemic is part of all of this and I take iron but once I stop I get severe anemia very fast is it something I should be concerned about ?

My gallbladder and spleen has been removed a year ago I'm struggling a lot with digestion of easy lean meat too also m too skinny what should i do should i take ox bile for that?
just turned 23, had my gallbladder removed the day before my birthday after having abdominal pain for 7 years and my gallbladder was white. Was on nexplanon for 3 of those 7 years and had periods lasting 2-3 months at a time; took it out after getting a blood clot in that same arm... I just had my birthday on friday and never have felt so old 😭😭
Had my gallbladder removed 5 years ago, start of the week i have biley stools, diarrhea,im now on a grill chicken ,baked fish diet, i also am taking probiotics gummies, im so tired of taking Imodium and Pepto just to make it at work😢
My mom did Keto for years without a gallbladder and unfortunately she became so low in vitamine B12 because she cant absorb the fats, she developed early dementia.
I just found you 🤗 had my gallbladder removed 4 months ago .. I eat pretty healthy..I am vegan.. what proteins should I be eating? I still have gas and when I eat beans.. my right side hurts 😢 please help 🙏🏻😊
Had my gallbladder removed this past January since it was functioning at 0% and need some help. (Constipation, IBS, peri menopause, etc). Feeling miserable most days.
I have questions after the gallbladder is removed . I feel like I'm iching my body all over the body. Does it happen now because liver makes bile. My hypothyroidism level is high.
Hi there! So in this case, I would recommend further testing to determine exactly what your system is doing. Itchiness can be a sign of a hormonal shift, and it can also be related to your gut bacteria and the level of histamine!
@DrBethWestie so I have to take antihistamines medicine for the rest of my life. I did all types of blood work. The report is normal. I am not sure what root cause itching after removing the gallbladder. Doctors sayings that nothing do with hypothyroidism. I have to take antihistamine tablets for the rest of my life.
I had my gallbladder out in May and am still having terrible issues. I eat very healthy. Yet I have chronic constipation and then diarrhea. I go back forth.
Shout out to the er doc who thought I was a drug seeker bc pressing on the 10/10 pain gallbladder didn't send intense pain there. I'm fat you're gonna have to press pretty hard to do anything. Question. I've had mine out for years and still get right shoulder pain. Could that be scarring do you think? Not asking for a solution or answer just possible causes
Yes definitely. If there is scar tissue in the area it can aggravate a nerve. Nerve pain can travel to many different areas of the body not necessarily associated with the location. Have you tried seeing a chiropractor?
