A card basically on-par with a GTX 1070 released nearly 3 years later with less VRAM. Should be cheaper; Not a good price. At least they have implemented hardware-level async-compute which AMD has had for years, now....

This card doesn't deserve all this praise. It shouldn't cost more than $250 and buying 6 GB VRAM in 2019 is no future proofing at all. AC Odyssey already uses 5+ on ultra in 1080p, just like PUBG in the snow map. We shouldn't be accepting anything other than 8 GB nowadays.

Well, in my country, the GTX 1070 costs around $ 500, while this card costs around $ 290. So i think it's a good card

Funny thing is that people comparing a new release GPU price with the used one available in the market. Compare it in a sense that Gtx 1070 MSRP was $380 and after 3 years you get a Gtx 1660ti delivering the same performance or better at MSRP $280

It's really mind boggling to see all these hypocrites diss on gtx 1660Ti saying it's overpriced,but these same corporate fanboys were cheerleading RX 590 which came out only 4 months ago for the same 279$ price tag for only 10% more performance compared to 3 years old gpu with 50$ less launch price. But now gtx 1660Ti is offering 40% performance increase over gtx 1060(source:hardware unboxed) and these AMD fanboys are bashing it. Typical PC gaming community,full of braindead hypocrites.

I'm looking to upgrade from a GTX 760, so I imagine I would see a leap in performance between that and a GTX 1660Ti. Can't wait!!

Wait for navi. Then choose between what is out. Maybe those RTX cards will cost a bit less when navi launches. GTX 1660 Ti is also good for 1440p GTX 1660 Ti gets better fps at 1440p than RX570 at 1080p Yon't won't able to max out every game at 1440p but few tweaks you can get decent performnace, max setting does not even make big difference in quality these days. I rather play 1440p high (or custom) setting than 1080p ultra settings.

Thanks for adding the 970 gtx on the benchmark, having this card since its release it helps a lot to frame the new cards performance.

if you neglect ultra settings and play on high, the RX570 is still the 1080p champ for me. specially since it costs 170USD.

The 1060 is still enough to run most games with console settings/1080p@60 or ultra/1440p@30. This is too expensive.

I would argue the gtx 2nd hand is a better deal than the gtx 1660ti.

1070 is still a better buy since they go for 200€ and up used and you get 2gb of vram more

I see a lot of arguments about its price to performance vs used cards, and its lack of vram capacity. But no one is complaining about its lack of RTX/DLSS support. I wonder why that is.

I'm a Digital Foundry Patreon subscriber and one thing I haven't seen them mention, that I think is great, is they have an h.265 download option for almost all of their videos. With my bandwidth caps I love being able to get the best of both worlds between download size and quality.

Love to see some gtx960/70 love. clearly newer cards will be better but its rare to see actual metrics on these older cards to give weight to how much better

Something to consider for those not keen on the price is that this card uses less power than older generations it compares to. So you can get by with a less expensive power supply in a new system.

Matching a three year old card at a similar price isn't impressive. Not worth it.

i have my 1070 @2Ghz and she is a beast. every review i see has it @ stock clocks to make this card sound better.

1660 Ti is good for the price

To be honest at 60hz it's been a 1440p champion for me as well. Witcher 3 Ultra 1440p smooth 60 FPS? No problem! Hell, Doom 2016 runs way above that, I can get it to near 4K with no performance loss. This is all with a very light OC.

2016 performance for 2016 money in 2019....

It's not a bad card but I feel it should be around £40 cheaper and should have 8GB of memory considering this is suppose to be a mid tier card, gamers tend to hold onto them longer there and I feel 6GB is going to be an issue going forward even at 1080p gaming which will either tank performance or force you to downgrade many settings which kind of defeats the idea of getting a card that can deliver better performance. Personally, I'll wait it out and see what AMD offers with Navi later this year as at least we know going off past records, it's very likely to have 8GB of memory on it. Also, the price isn't as good as people think, this is 3 years after the the 1070 with less memory, the price should be a lot cheaper then it is, also, the price is creeping above what most gamers would consider mid range as it's creeping into higher end gpu's. The irony is, Vaga 56 doesn't look that bad compared to this with it having 8GB of memory and I suspect that will do better with gaming in the longer run as games use more memory and more so when the next gen of consoles are out so if you really don't need to upgrade, I would avoid this and see what Navi is like later this yeah, with any luck, it might shake up the market.

i think you mean the 1440p champion (with the price of that segment included) the current unbeatable champions of 1080p are the RX 570 and the RX 580, the two cards with the highest price / perfromance at the moment.

Really would be smarter to w8 for navi or get a used GTX 1080 for bout the same price as the 2060

1660 Ti is the first card from NV since a long time that has fair price for fair performance, the last midrange NV card that had equally fair price/perf. ratio was the 1070 and that's basically 3 years old now. so apart from the fact that this card is positioned more fairly than RTX & Co. for me this time it will be an AMD card to go for just because i know that nvidia is trying to please with this card on purpose to get some "good guy" image back. so most probably gonna be a Vega 56 for me

i have the gtx 980 and gtx 1060,,the gtx 980 ia a little bit faster,that means the 1660 ti is not much faster than the gtx 980 not overclock,,,i bought the gtx 980 for $100 on offerup,,,i think im good still,,no reason to upgrade,sorry for my english.

In Canada the 1660Ti is selling for $500 on average, by comparison you can get a 2060 for only $30 more, and a RX 590 for about $150 less, in that regard this is one of the worst possible GPUs to buy right now.. Buying a card that gives a smaller performance gain compared to the jump from the 700 to 900, 900 to 10 series, for a much higher cost is just not a good deal, you're better off simply spending the extra $30 for a 2060, or save $150 and grab a RX 590, you'll be much happier with one of those choices imo.

Do they just come up with random numbers now? Use to be so easy to keep track each tier card in each generation. No we've gone from 1080 to 2080 and 1660 wtf?

In my country ( eastern europe ) it is worth getting either the gtx 1660 ( non ti ) at 260 euro or the rtx 2060/Vega 56 at 390 euro ( cheapest rtx compared to sapphire pulse Vega ). The 1660 can be oc-ed well to become a 1660 ti, while the 1660 ti doesnt get much better with overclock and it costs 325 euro...

Is it really that impressive? Its 1070 performance (June 2016), at a few dollars less, on a much much cheaper to manufacture card. The 1060 holds up extremely well given its age.

Considering moving on from my 380X Nitro. It too, is a 1080p focused card from late 2015 and it has done very well, but everything I've read makes the 1660 Ti a better card than the 580, 590 or 5500 XT

😒 this card is a joke, its a gimped 1070 with only 6gb, for something longterm your much better off looking at cards with 8gb of ram, such as 580 590 Vega 1070 1080, good stuff 😒👍

Vega 56 is better if you like to tweak around, if you like out of the box get the 1660ti. With Vega 56 you can flash 64 bios, tweak your core and voltage and it perform just as well as a 1080 OC. Only get if it's cheaper. I got it for £200.

I'd be very interested to see how the 1660ti fairs in VR applications, especially with the rift S on the horizon.

Tried to upgrade to gigabyte vega 56, kept crashing and got my money back, lots of people with the same problem. Now have the 1660 Ti, similar performance for half the power. Price/performance isn't that great though, would've postponed upgrading if my 290 didn't die.

I just built a rig about two weeks ago with an ASUS gtx 1660ti oc ryzen 5 2600x 16gb ddr4 3200mhz ram and I run every game past 60 on the highest graphics. However when I play competitive games I turn down the graphics a bit and easily pull in 144 FPS. I can run games like dark souls 3 monster hunter world and doom all over 60 FPS with 2k res. I’m still unsure why everybody is calling this card a 1080p one or a midrange one I haven’t had any performance issues at all yet even without over clocking

I wish they would make more cards that try to beat the 1080s performance for a decent price point. I mean, I'm not planni ng on upgrading my 1080 this gen(cuz mine can overclock to 2100 mhgz and that gets me pretty great performance for the 550 I payed for it) but I'd still like to see some progress besides the rtx 2080.

I sort of wish we would stop describing cards by a certain resolution. I understand it and yet this card is totally suitable for 1440p or even 4k with proper settings

Great vid, answered pretty much exactly what I'm up against buying my next graphics card. It would be great if you could provide some more numbers for ultra wide displays, which are becoming more popular with gamers (rocking a 34" 3440x1440 myself and couldn't be happier with it).

Please do a benchmark with DDR4 dual channel vs Triple vs Quad Channel configurations on Intel and also on AMD. More interested on Intel. It seems that Quad DDR4 configs get more FPS? Maybe as new video. Thank you.

Do most people not realize that this card is made exclusively by Nvidia partners, as Nvidia didn’t make their own reference card? There may be some that release one version with more VRAM, so if you are in the market for this type of card, might be beneficial to wait a tad bit. I’m seeing way too many moaning about the VRAM as is.

Next time instead of comparing standard vs performance with a setting on and off show the setting on and off with the same mode in the same graph. Because I for one certainly don't remember the previous performance between two graphs.

My GTX 1080 achieves 62 fps in average in the benchmark with ultra settings, 94 fps average with "very high" settings, a mixture of both gives me 74 fps. Very High for 1440p (and 1080p if you don´t want to risk dropping below 60 fps), the mixture for 1080p.

im sitting on my gtx 570 and still can play most games just fine. Still haven't found anything groundbreaking at $200 so I'll kep waiting.

30$ cheaper than an RTX 2060 (400-450$) in Switzerland. I think I'll stick to my potato for youtube / productivity and my Xbox One X for gaming. Those prices are insane and will probably be driving a lot of people towards consoles, especially when they can get a beast for 400$ out of the box when next gen comes out.

Didn't Digital Foundry once say a GTX 1060 is a 1080p card, GTX 1070 is a 1440p card and GTX 1080 (ti) a 4k card? I even remember them once saying a GTX 1070 is overkill for 1080p and can even result in negative performance. So in this video a GTX 1660 Ti and RTX 2060 are considered 1080p cards eventhough they are at GTX 1070 level or higher!!!

If you get the 1660ti with a decent cooler it is $300 to $310. I saw a brand new Red Dragon Vega 56 for $340 and three free games earlier today.

Most people want to run 2 or 3 SVGA monitors, so I have no idea why they keep outputting these damn cards with 1 dvi, 1 hdmi, and 1 displayport. You end up with a morass of adapters hanging off the back of your computer, if you can *even* get them to work.

Great video! I just picked up rtx 2070 and metro is indeed very demanding. I need adaptive sync monitor badly. Are there 1440p ips 75hz monitors? 144hz models are very expensive and often suffer in image quality department

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the GTX 1660 is going to be to the RX 590 what the GTX 1060 was to the RX 580 performance-wise.

The reason the form factor is so small is because the wattage is so low And the wattage is so low because this is a x60 level card that shouldn't cost more than 250 dollars.

If your on a tight budget I guess. I'll take the faster rtx 2060 for 1080p.
