thank you for this. I have the 2015 and it is still used every single day for live TV and movies. I will be upgrading to the 2019 pro as my new TV supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos on Netflix doesn't work on the 2015 model. Still a 5year old device which is used 11 hours a day is still working great!
I didn't really hear much about the 2015 against the others here. Any more direct opinion on measuring up the 500gb version of that compared with the 17/19 models?
@@magicgsuk6312 Just in case if you still need assistance... You'll have to clone your Nvidia shield internal hdd to an SSD using HDD guru raw tool utility and to avoid interference do that in windows safemode. One of the youtubers made a clear video on this so it should help. I did it last week and was worried however everything is sorted.
Great comparison - Both my 2015 & 2017 models still running great - won't be upgrading anytime soon as don't need the extra features of the 2019 models
@@tyhome1 Yes. Yes it does. Benched mine at 880 down and 950 up. Brilliant, hard to get machine that will increase in value. So glad I bought mine when I did.
Father Christmas is getting me the new Pro as I do not have never had the Nvidea. I hope it is worth it as he has a long way to come from Lapland. Great review but there is no mention about the Integra X1 and the X1plus no difference in the 2017 & 2019 so the plus is a bit of a con as you get nothing more as I can see, please advise me on this if you know different Roberto. Happy Xmas to you and the family. Keep em coming!!!
Hello Roberto, Great review! 4 years later, now March 2021, do you think the 2017 model is still a good option to take into account? Is there any room left for next years?... Thank you very much in advance. Take care...
I made that decision last month and when almost no difference in performance,. I got the last model as it came with the game controller. I didn't just buy it for streaming but games as well.

I have the 2015 of 500gb !!! And I think that is so Good. That I think that will be a waste of $$ to upgrade
Do the older models run Kodi flawless with no lag or sluggish issues? I have a mecool box and it is very sluggish, I have no more patience for it. I am looking for an android box just for Kodi (it is sluggish on my TV as well and I don't want to charge my TV with it), I thought this could be a good option.
my 2017 did an update, and now stuck on boot logo. Can't reset it via any method. It's dead. Controller battery dead to. Need a new one ill just get the tube version.
Don't know about you but personally I find it mind-numbingly stupid that they would switch the tablet to a TV box. Unless the PR and marketing department just doesn't like to show other images of it's features besides being only a TV box. I still have all of the original prototyped versions "Nvidia Shield Portable, Nvidia Shield Tablet K1, and Nvidia Controller" before they switched it to a TV box only. Though from the wiki if it is accurate I reckon they sacrificed for the greater good for the Nintendo Switch community. Still works though won't be getting any more software updates. #ItIsWhatItIs #Namaste 🙏🏼 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nvidia_Shield_Portable en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shield_Tablet
They seem to be getting worse with each new model. The 2017 model removed the microSD port and the 2019 removed 1GB of ram from the regular revision. Other than that Nvidia hasn't changed the hardware since it launched in 2015. Ps. The 2019 baton looking model looks ugly as f**k. I'm not sure whether or not to play movies or ring toss.
I bought the pro in 2015 and it was excellent but since the hardware was never upgraded i think it became overpriced in 2017 and way overpriced in 2019
2019 Remote not so incredible. It is very hard on your hand muscles if held for any length of time. The older chocolate bar styles are much more comfortable (too bad the 2015 remote’s internal battery died so early). All that said though, I would almost advocate for replacing the newer 2019 remote with the remote from or for the Fire Stick. It works almost 100% and is ergonomically better.
The 2017 and 2019 is exactly the same. That plus in the 2019 chipset gives you nothing but in the 2017 version you even get a game pad för less money 🤔
Oh, thanks for this comment. I don't own any of these but I have seen 2017 for sale quite cheap now. Wasn't sure with one to get between 2017-2019 cos I want something that supports 4K mkv or TS files off the USB hard drive.
