Here in Finland we use all three - wail, yelp and hi-lo. Also phaser/piercer on intersections. As a paramedic for 40 years I can assure that hi-lo is the worst and if you drive a car with music on, it mixes to chords - while wail and yelp break through as they constantly vary the pitch.
Fun fact : Russia and Hungary are the only countries in Europe to have red with blue lights on theyre ambulances although you can always see Hungarian ambulance with red and blue lights but in Russia it’s very rare
we have sprinter chassis as a box ambulance for most our ambulance service but we got other units in the country that use other vehicles like ford transits and ford rangers and ranger raptors@@Palitapka
This is using a Whelen siren with the programmable Scan-Lock siren tones, and it's set to one of the German hi-lo tones if I remember correctly. Whelen has a ton of programmable European Hi-Lo tones to choose from, including Italy, Netherlands, and France as well.
@@aidanmallon9879 The Martin Horn is ONE of the European siren tones. Not every Euro siren tone is the Martin horn. This is not the standard Whelen Hi-Lo sound, because the standard Whelen version sounds higher pitched. This is the German Hi-Lo tone. Whelen also has the Martin Horn, but this is not it.
As a german I can tell you our sirens are not like this…they sound a lot different 😂 It’s not even a „euroean“ siren bc there are a lot of different sirens in use in different countrys…
"European style" refers to hi-lo sound. Listen to US style siren how it slides up and down constantly. European style siren switches between high and low frequency, there's nothing between them.
@@UltraCasualPenguin that's true, but what he's reffering to, is that this is an American hi-lo siren. The version used in several EU-countries, sounds alot different.
@@cmmartti Whelen and Federal Signal all have a hi-lo siren available that's dissimilar to those used in several EU-countries. It is therefore known as the American Hi-Lo and is most prominently used by the ambulance services in NY.
In european and ive always wanted to go to new york, if those european sirens are used there im skipping over new york, i wanne go their for the beautiful trucks with the authentic sirens, not this european trash
