Seen here is MTA New York City Transit 2024 New Flyer Industries XE40 "Xcelsior CHARGE NG" #5010 (along with 2021 New Flyer XDE40 "Xcelsior Hybrid" #9536) on the Q59 making its way along Queens Blvd to 62nd Drive.
Today was the first day of service for #5010, which is the first of a brand new fleet of electric buses entering service in the city. These buses will see service at the Grand Avenue, East New York, and Michael J. Quill Depots in Brooklyn and Manhattan.
The pilot buses, #4965 and #4966, recently went back to NFI to be retrofitted with the same safety devices the rest of the fleet has, which are for use if the batteries of the bus are overheating / malfunctioning (which has been the case with a few of these electrics around the country).
