Everyone is talking about the animation, but nobody is talking about how incredible and fitting the music and sound design is. It just wouldn't be a Felix Colgrave video without those quirky sounds.
David Attenborough: Here in the plains, an extraordinary group of animals gather, some found nowhere else in the world. Kites propel themselves by riding the winds, some feeding on insect. *When camera focuses on hot air balloon* Lying in wait, Hot Air Balloons blend with the colorful landscape, where they await thier prey
Ah yes, the Fibrylon Kingdom is an interesting one. In this video we can see an example of a group of _milvus iaspis,_ also known as diamond kites (known to travel in large groups, and despite being a mischievous lot, often get tangled in one another) being hunted by their sole predators, _calidum-aerum camo,_ also known as the camouflaging hot air balloons.
Among the species in the _milvus_ genus we see the more nimble cousins of the _iaspis:_ the _milvus alis._ These flaunt their wide triangular wings used primarily for more efficient gliding. And shown briefly is the grand _milvus piscis,_ a kite with a fish-derived design made from several scaled sections. It seems to be followed by 3 _vexillum socium,_ a species that is actually classified as a flag, not a kite.
@@ramz16k The *calidum-aerum* also has some cousins of their own, though they are usually filter feeders, such as *calidum-arum latas*, also known as the Long Hot Air Balloon.
Attenborough: "Here, we see the kites assert their dominance over the various inhabitants of the meadows below, yet unbeknownst to them, a larger, clumsier hunter stalks the clouds above."
ORORORORO!!! I spend half of my day sleeping! ORORORO!!! Then I sometimes get up and tell you that I am a famous content creatorORORORORO!!! Please don't sleep while driving, dear jqmws
Australia is memed for two reasons: - for flat-earth-ers it doesn't exist; - anything that lives there is perfectly capable and apparently intentioned to kill you.
I just absolutely love the way your balloon monster is introduced, and then immediately with the next moment the kite thats flying away. The shock and emotion is so clear, I’m amazed how you do that. Everything with the musical cues and the timing
Isn't nylon a carbon-based polymer? A "nylon-based" life form would likely have nylons playing the same role as proteins, both a nutrient and building block.
I'm pretty sure he doesn't really Storyboard his stuff. He just goes straight to animation. That's why his stories have such an spontaneous feel to them.
I am relaxed, frightened and slightly confused. Yep! This is a Felix Colgrave cartoon and I wouldn't have it any other way. Please do not change a thing, everything you make is absolutely wonderful.
You’re so great at chaotic, slightly unsettling actions anchored by well thought out weight and exaggeration of motion. I wish it wasn’t such an overwhelming challenge to produce your own animation. As much as I want to see you get financial/production support to make your own show or film, so much of the flavor comes from your own hand. I wonder if a team and animation studio could shoulder the animation/production burden without something being lost in the process.
there are ways around this process, Felix could draw up the sketches for each frame and the team could line it, Felix could make half the frames needed and the team could fill in the rest, Felix could make an animation as normal but the team takes over for coloring
The dithered colors really gives this such a specific texture. I know what sound this animation would make if I could scratch my fingernail across it's surface.
When I watched the movie Nope I immediately thought of this animation since Jean Jacket seemed to be made from almost a nylon material, and also the way he hides in the clouds
Felix really is a master at his craft, and every work he shows us he improves and grows! I love everything here! My favorite scene (That I will STILL randomly think of and giggle at) is the scene in Double-King where he shoots a musket at a castle, and the castle just puts up it's hands and slooooowly backs away! Funniest scene ever, and I will hum the song and snicker the whole time!
This has something to do with the unforseen effects of technological advances and the emergence of planned obsolescence in modern capitalism, I just know it
Hey man. Idk if you’ll see this. But I want you to know that I grew up with your animations. 25 years old and I still watch them. I’m glad to see you’ve returned and I can enjoy your creations again. Thank you for your hard work!
Once again, Felix takes us on a trip into an amazing, surreal world we couldn't possibly comprehand using some of the most beautiful animation in human history
Felix colgrave is not just a great animator, but also great sound artist. The sound effects and music is like I'm in a dream. edit: me realizing i have a comment with 1k likes and can edit to whatever i want: I HAVE THE POWER me afterwards doing absolutely nothing because i don't wanna do that edited comment so you don't know why it got so many likes.
right, but shouldn't art have a meaning? something that pushes you to find new perspective on reality, or rearranges you to find new optimal state of your inner working? this is some cool psychedelic animation, music fits great - that is true but where is the art?
This color palette transported me to a whole new world. It was so nice to visit another one of Felix’s lands. The bubble gum, cotton candy, Easter basket, marshmallow fluff world is one of my favorites even after one viewing.
god the music in your animations are always so specific to your style and I adore it, I saw other comments saying your sound design has improved immensely and I cant agree more. amazing work as always
I love watching the progress in quality of your animations over the years. Watching your videos always mesmerizes me. Your string connecting to the art world is truly special
There's nothing like Double king..!!!!! It's THE best I've seen so far...... 3 years and still searching for something that matches the concept, story and overall things of double king
I love the bright colors and the slight unease that is so ironic but also enjoyable. Again, short, but a true masterpiece. I also loved the texturing, too.
Mr Colgrave, you have no idea how happy it is to see your work once more. Your animation skills as always can give even the best cartoon/anime companies a run for their money. Never stop doing what your best at.
This is one of my favourite soundscapes. The delicate little outbursts are so ornately designed. Reminds me of Don Hertzfeldt’s obsessive attention to sound as well. Also thank you for acknowledging the Boon Wurrung people!
Very cool poem. You obviously have a talent for this. You could work a bit more on the rhythm though. The first three lines all have 8 syllables but the last one has 11. The last line could be subsituted for example with: "The world's an ephemeral haze". I'm not saying all lines need to have an equal amount of syllables but with rhyming poems, it's advisable to have some regularity to the rhythm.
I love that I need no words or backstory of this world to understand what’s happening I immediately understood that it’s kill or be killed No need for emotional development just the terror from seeing other living creatures die set the story in motion
It's interesting how different this video will look when you play around with quality resolution. I turned it up from 720p to the highest setting and wow.
This artist is able to create a deeply interesting story out of any thing or concept even nylons, truly one of the most distinguished content and art ive seen.
That's what I thought! The kites reminded me of the balloons of people's heads that fly around hanging the person with their head. (How to: phrase things poorly)
