I think that they were questioning why a fire engine was not parked nearby, on standby alert, considering the trump trial was going on there. That's how I perceive their question. They could have asked it in a better manner, though. Pre-positioning equipment is a part of any security plan for major events.

Some of the media seem to be asking questions insinuating police, fire, other should have prevented this or "saved" this man within seconds vs minutes. It was no ones job to save this man from himself. They did an amazing job with the quick reaction.

The guy seriously asked why response time was not faster then 2 minutes to get to a fire extinguisher to put out this self inflicted fire. Police should not be expected to react within seconds of every single conceivable problem in existence that might arise. It would be detrimental if police officers were required to have fire extinguishers on them at all times for the once in a decade scenario where someone purposely lights themself on fire. It would also be a waste of time and money to have and maintain fire extinguishers so that people can be within 100 feet of a fire extinguisher at all times for this one purpose that could have gone to other things. Utter nonsense.

Cops have extinguishers in their cars. Any commercial vehicles would have extinguishers on board or in the cabs of their trucks. The company that placed the barriers up more than likely would've had extinguishers on hand. It's not that far fetched

yes, there is a reason self immolation is seen as such if not the strongest form of suicide. Even at its most successful, it is the most painful way considered to go, and often performed for others to witness.

In 2010, my piano student's mother committed suicide by immolating herself in a local park over an accounting error she had made for her company. In 2018, I watched a man run into the fire at Burning Man and die in front of me. Now this. It's so horrifying and sad.
I watched a family burn to death in a ditch in a car accident on a country road in the middle of winter when I was 3, it's the only memory I have from that young. I remember the screaming then the screaming stopped. My dad wouldn't go near the car because he was afraid, and cellphones didn't exist yet. We drove home slowly and silently and then called the police department to tell them there were dead people in the countryside.

My adult son has schizophrenia and planned on taking an action that would have unalived himself. He believes he's immortal and that a housemate was a government agent planning on testing him. (This is my son's baseline while on meds.). If this poor young man who lit himself on fire has a similar illness, he was so afraid of something happening and felt that was his (or society's) only escape.

I'm 63yo and I find it hard to understand what on earth would prompt anyone in this country to self emoliate themselves. In authoritarian countries, where the people have no voice, it makes more sense, but here? Only thing I can think of is mental health care is so lacking here and so many people get into bad places in their minds. Sad state of affairs.
So that's actually his point. In his manifesto he explains that we've been led to think we have a voice when in reality we live in a two party "game" designed to make Dems and Republicans fight each other instead of realizing that almost zero of our elected officials have any interest in carrying out the will of the people who voted them into office. AKA he felt that this was the only way for people to hear him, and the fact that his manifesto and attached "proof" have been wiped from the internet is certainly suggestive that he was right about the manipulation--and semi wrong about this being drastic enough for anyone to hear it :(. That's also why he picked this location. The manifesto has nothing to do with Trump--he just went there because he knew that no media/news source could ignore it if he did it there.

Just today in America...First, I spend time trying to contact school board, school, Florida Department of Education due to elementary kids having non-binary and transqueer on an assignment.
