I am liking Winston Peters more & more. Calling out NZ not going forward with Separatism in his brief interrupted speech yesterday at Waitangi was Powerful & Awesome.
Always well spoken Shane.. open and honest about your family and what's going on there..yes definitely don't mess with Winston..that's why we support him and NZF 🇳🇿❤️
It's always nice to meet another who backed one of the winning horses in the "Trifecta", as it were. If only i'd doubled down on NZF and put two quid on them instead of just the one :P
@riverofstars8567 Nope, that would be the sorry ones you backed on The Opposition benches. But don't worry, they're in good company: lame ducks, and toothless dogs make up the rest of their rabble.
@@konceptgaming9469 That is such a ridiculous, tiresome argument. This does not make it ok to rape, pillage, and poison the land and ocean. Perhaps get away from your "koncept gaming" and find out what is really happening to our planet. Aotearoa New Zealand is in real danger of being destroyed further by colonialism (look up the meaning, in case you are unsure), and those Maoris that are complicit in doing so should be ashamed of themselves. NZ First Party MP and Minister for Resources, Shane Jones, intends to impose a free-for-all mining policy onto conservation lands, which have been set aside for future generations and biodiversity. They must protect the important national values held in our mountains and forests and recognise that they need greater protection, not mining on and under them! And then there's GMO/GE crops. What a great idea! I am Pākehā, and emigrated in 2004 from the UK and appalled by this government's ignorance and arrogance.
Winston has big shoulders, there is nothing new under the sun that Winston has't seen or heard. As he says "Yall all talk, no action" Now he's in the big seat you all want some, but it ain't gonna be handed
The IWI hosting the event on their Marae needs to be ashamed of themselves for not reigning in those who were disrupting the representatives of the Crown. And those who disrupted should also have kept their Mana intact and showed respect to the host tribe by behaving themselves. Think of it this way readers, if you were hosting a gathering of friends, relatives and other guests to your house, would you as the host tolerate a person(s) being disrespectful to both you and your other guests?
made from your white world view and your arm chair. Go to a marae and see what happens on the marae. The atea is a place to talk and if you're going to play around with the treaty or are discussing contentious issues be prepared for anything.
Craig you have totally missed the point about the days leading up to the commemorative day that is the 6th of February. Allowing robust debate on the subject was done in 1840, and so it was done yesterday in 2024. But today on the 6th of February, in Waitangi, the spirit of unity for all NZers stands. Concerning manakitanga toward our visitors, in the context of the kaupapa set out yesterday, Waitangi was the correct place and forum to have it. Respect was displayed by Ngapuhi for allowing all those who did speak, speak, unfettered, unfiltered, passionately. Kia Ora Craig, you have a lovely day.
Shouting and screaming over others while they are speaking (especially when a speaker is talking to a crowd) is not robust debate, don't talk bollocks. The communication that happened in 1840 was NOT the same style as was done yesterday. But in any case, enjoy New Zealand day.@@joskempbaker831
The Pakeha Media has never given Winston Peters the Respect he deserves it is pity that some Maori have been led by the nose to mimic this. Regardless if you agree with his Politics he is one of the Greatest Maori leaders this country has ever produced. None before have been Deputy Prime Minister Twice, And Prime Minister,Minister of Finance, Foreign Minister and Ambassador. For Maori leaders to allow any young Maori to disrespect him is a blight on themselves not Winston. Apirana Ngata stood against The Treaty and Ratana and yet he was never treated by Maori with disrespect and Ngata achieved less than Peters by far.
Absolutely. There's nothing stopping any Maori from being as successful (if not moreso) than any other Kiwi, of whatever ethnicity. You can either stand around with your hands out all the time, OR pull yourself up off the ground, quit feeling sorry for yourself, and make something of yourself. You have the same opportunities as any other of God's people, on His green Earth. Easy, peasy, Japanesey!
@@matthewsproule1109he’s trying to say where is the responsibility from Māori? It’s time to show the mana and make the changes. The Pakeha can’t make them, it has to come from Māori. Sitting in the Treaty to give you what you need is not working. And if you want to be heard, let us hear it and let us see it.
He always makes sense and is so straight up, not often I listen to all a politician has to say, as most speak with half truths, but Mr Jones is refreshing, not says I agree with all he says but like his direct honesty
THANK YOU SO MUCH ------Winston Peters - David Seymor - and Shane jones for standing proud for every new zealander and speaking truth maori shuld feel shame the way they behaved so very rude - out of line
@riverofstars8567 Te TIRITI means ONE PEOPLE, that's the message of this new Government. NZ chose a government that will stop the unmandated changes the former government tried to push through!
Shane Jones’s measured responses reflects a wisdom that makes him an important leader at this juncture of Aotearoa New Zealand’s history. I rate him highly.
Go Winston and Shane. I am sure my son who teaches Drs to be very efficient Drs at RPA on behalf of the Sydney Uni medical team would agree. The Nation State must be explained to all asap. They would then understand NZ first and its doctrines.
The topic aside this has to be one of the first political interviews I've seen in a long time where both the politician and the media didn't devolve into an accusatory shouting match. Ka pai to Shane and the reporters conducting themselves with level heads and professionalism. We got most of the information we needed and no one sling venom at the other ❤
Well done to Shane Jones and Winston Peter's, so pleased I Voted for NZ First. Your experience and knowledge is greatly needed. Lots of young Moari have zero idea what you guys have done for Moari in the past, and present.
People who will not allow opposing viewpoints to be heard and would prefer to shout and scream instead should not whinge when they say they aren’t being listened to. I would rather listen to some rubbish ideas that I don’t agree with than the idea of living in a country where you are unable to speak freely. There are those who actively stir the point with no intention of finding unity or common grounds in order to unite people and then there are those who try to fight through the noise to find solutions tfor the greater good of everyone involved. I find politicians, bureaucrats and activists to be the least helpful in this area and it is actually the average everyday people from all walks of life that are more willing to try and make a better world for themselves and their children. I applaud Jones and Peters for turning up and trying to bring a more common sense approach in to govvernment.
Straight up and honest ... the woke Pakeha liberal media can't handle it eh bro. "Young people you know .... they get in the hot sun and get carried away... " The nation may well celebrate this calm commentary as the way forward.
Thank you Shane for your support and respect to Winston. Loyalty is a beautiful thing. And thank you to Nga Puhi for their manaakitanga. Arohanui kia koutou katoa.
It was much more peaceful day when the treaty was signed in 1840, compared to the drama we now have every year! These stirrers have been indulged every year
Thankyou for taking time to speak to us. I found this very interesting and resect to Shane Jones for answering questions. We all live in learn through life. A lot us would enjoy listening to these people at the face of issues rather than media opinions
@riverofstars8567 I'm glad you admitted up front that you haven't got the "right stuff" to be in government. That would be a genuine reason for NZer's to panic. So thank you for your candidness.
@@maggietemp4770 It was for the Crown constitution (democracy) that saved the Maori race,if it was Japan or China that came here back 1840 there would be no Maori race.It was the Crown history through out the ages that save native people in their land.
My great great grandmother was full Maori. I dont want to be " Maori" because Maori are stuck in a Feudal system. This is 2024. It has been proven all over the world that a socialist system doesnt work...(.Listen to the speech of the new Argentinian president Javia Milei at the World Economic Forum) New Zealand has to move with the rest of the world.... not go back to the 1800
Javia Milei is a populist menace . Public education and health care and strong regulations to hold corporations and business to account is vital to a healthy society . The right wing US policy Javia rants about led to the kind of unstable populism that voted in Trump , has polarized opinion further and has the US on the brink of a major civil war
'Comments off' is a denial of the freedom of speech. 'Media' means 'that between which facilitates communication'. In effect it is a characteristic of fascism. We can speak to you - but even though the medium for discussion exists , we will deny you the use of it.
The treaty of Waitangi was signed by maori , crown , government as their representative and those who left over ,european etc , for their desendants to live together . At no part am linked to this process .
Not blaming the new government pathetic journalists and get your facts right. Māori tangā will never ever go away it's infinity David Seymour leader of the Act party that wants to repeal Te Tiriti O Waitangi. Tīpuna/Tupuna have made great sacrifices for the intergenerational of māori raua maua taua that Tiriti O Waitangi tāonga ano historical landmark kōrero maua Dawning nā Waitangi ae kōrero karakia hau
I'm in NZ , the Canadians gave me inspiration to protest our previous leftard government during the Plandemic. Canada, keep the fight up . I am so so proud of you all my Brothers and Sisters . In NZ we call family Whanau in the Maori language. You are our Whanau. We love you dearly ❤❤❤ Kia Kaha!!! (Stand strong)
I respect Shanes skills and knowledge his loyalty and pragmatism is massively underappreciated. I wasnt impressed with the pettyness and shouting over speakers at Waitangi and hope this is settled for the time we have ahead. Im a former NZ first Labour supporter now supporting Te Pati Maori and was really impressed by the grace witt and common sense inteligence of Shane they are lucky to have him as we know Winston on attack is a fiery advocate for pan Maori tribalism. People have forgotten what Winston did in the past to help advance Maori land settlements for Tainui and Tauranga who are in fact runanga driven now with many inequities in iwi and hapu politics. Thank goodness for Hone also he acknowledged this to as Shanes knowledge of the Treaty is so valueable definetly more aligned with a dated model that Matiu Rata had envisioned but let's be fair the experience and knowledge of kaumatua is so precious please don't kaka on that all you newbies and hoha heki pirau. Nga mihi nui Shane Kia tau te mauri me te atawhai i runga i a koutou i tenei waa.
Shane is a fabulous and honest Politician...he says it as it is ...Thank you Shane for all you do for all of us here in New Zealand....you are a hero....
Utter shite! Our future is doomed. Our waters will be poisoned, our biodiversity destroyed, and you think that's the work of a hero?? And then there's GMO/GE crops, thanks to Lucifer Luxon. What a great idea! 🤦♀🤬
I made an official complaint recently to Parliament about these press conferences in which the questions being asked (half the conversation ) are inaudible to listeners because journalists seem to have forgotten a fundamental part of their training. To all journalists out there : WE NEED TO HEAR YOUR QUESTIONS. DIRECT YOUR MICROPHONE AT YOURSELF WHEN ASKING QUESTIONS..
What is the contra proferentem rule NZ? "Contra proferentem", a self-serving argument used by treatyists, is a doctrine of contractual interpretation providing that, where a promise, agreement or term is ambiguous, the preferred meaning should be the one that works against the interests of the party who provided the wording.
Labour didn't care about Māori until they became opposition. When they were in power they did next to nothing and that's why they lost most of their Māori seats.
You forgot to finish your sentence. Here, let me help you ... [NZ First Party MP and Minister for Resources, Shane Jones] is the Man who intends to impose a free-for-all mining policy onto conservation lands, which have been set aside for future generations and biodiversity. They must protect the important national values held in our mountains and forests and recognise that they need greater protection, not mining on and under them! And then there's GMO/GE crops. What a great idea Lucifer Luxon! 🤦♀🤬
The bigger picture is why is luxon dragging New Zealand into offshore conflict theres no reason or no good reason to be participating in American politics
He's taking orders from the colonial masters. They don't care if it destroys New Zealand's economy. From their point-of-view, New Zealand is getting dragged in and that's that.
@@davidcampbell3642 absolutely correct... I hope after Waitangi is finished we can all move on together and focus on this subject matter all together as one and put the hard questions to luxon just what or what tangible gains is hoping to get out of this nonsense ... And will he confirm that there may or perhaps will be major consequences for all New Zealanders that will likely suffer for his confirmation on signing this one off... Will he own this mistake... Before the Bad happens..
Interesting his comment about NZ's changing population. Thousands of years ago Maori began their long, difficult, courageous journey to NZ from Asia via Hawaii. Now, it's a few hours in a plane.
Same old questions... so PREDICTABLE lol! 🤣The entry bar to be a mainstream media journalist here is very low indeed... just pandering to what they perceive their viewers/listeners of the same mindset as them (or their bosses) want to hear. The more independent journalists are better.
'Interesting' how few people seem to have been bothered by this rather fundamental flaw. New Zealanders have become inured to accepting a very low standard from our Fourth Estate ( journalists ). Also , if you're trying to focus on the questions, it's hard to know whether they're NOT asking the ones that they should be asking - but most likely aren't. Journalists who rise to the top create the narrative and steer attention away from any aspect that seriously undermines or threatens the status quo and holds it to account. This interview was just political entertainment.
This is the worst racial slinging I have seen in NZ for many years, and it is now being talked about across the globe; people are now forced to pick sides, many people swayed by paid online social media influencers. I was happy the way it was... didn't affect or bother me as a non Maori New Zealander.
