While OJ may not have been the legendary Walter Payton ( what he did for his community ), you have to see that OJ transcended being just a football player. I am very very proud of OJ and the life he lived up to the double murder - i can say that. I think it is - indeed - an incredible story of how decisons have been made about his official legacy. that would make a great Michel Moore documentary.

OJ also actually won the Heisman Trophy in 1968, his last year playing for USC. OJ was actually drafted by the Bills in 1969, and played professionally until 1979, when he played his last two seasons for his hometown 49ers.

I think what you see OJ do, was more than any other back in history. it would be ridiculous to say he was the best and dimininish others, but you can see his uncanny drive and ability to make forward progress. he expected to break free every run. i believe his inner vision was always seeing himself running all the way to the goal line.

During the 60s and 70s there was Gale Sayers, who MAY have been 6' tall; Tony Dorsett, who was all of 5'9"; Walter Payton, who was about 5'9"; Earl Campbell, who was a wrecking ball at 5'11"; Terry Metcalf, who also became a phenomenon in Canadian football, was MAYBE 5'10". The only guys who were 6' and over in O. J.'s era were Franco Harris (6'4") and O. J. Anderson (6'3"). Most others were BELOW 6'.

The game changed; the way it does every 15-20 years.
