It reminds me of that episode of The Simpsons where homer was a boxer and had an unusual amount of fluid around his brain that allows him to basically do what this guy did
Gotta stop calling people kids. Moutinho's a 30yo man who, if I remember correctly, was a coach at his own gym and took the fight due to a possibility of making money for his family and bettering life for people around him. He got the chance, knew he was gonna lose and took it. He's not bad being a 10-6 pro fighter, now with a loss against a UFC belt contender. That's a level the majority of us are never gonna reach. World class athletes in any sport are just another level of being insanley good at something. Also good stoppage, UFC commentators are just dumb sometimes.
Herb Dean absolutely made the right call for ALL the right reasons. Moutinho was flailing. He didn't have much left in him. He would have been totally defenseless against Sean's next flying knee, and this fight could have easily ended his career. Instead, we got the perfect ending to this fight: wondering how much more he could have taken. Herb did right by everyone involved, and that's why he's the best of the best. God it must've been a hard call to make. Kris Moutinho needs new coaches, and he needs to train WAY harder. It's crazy to think about, but if he was half as fast as O'Malley in this fight, he might have had him.
I agree with everything you said until the very end Sean moved out of the way of all of his punches Sean’s movement was too much for him not only did Chris not have barley and defense or head movement but he’s also flat footed and just keeps walking forward in a straight line even the punches that he did connect it didn’t even look like O’Malley knew he hit him so I doubt he’s got power in his punches either but either way he is a warrior and has a ton of heart
Man that dude is legendary tough. He was there to do a job and he wasn’t ever gonna quit. I remember seeing this fight live. It was tough to watch. A similar feeling to the Justin V Tony fight.
Facts. Tony wasn’t coming forward after all the punches like this green haired zombie was though. This kid got the job done imo. He wasn’t even on the UFC roster they picked him up on late notice and he showed that he’s a tough SOB and belongs on this roster
I mean, the UFC was trying to slowly build up their new cash cow O'Malley, so they found a guy from the streets and paid him off decently to be the punching bag. The same is happening with Paddy and Bo Nickal. In fact, they did the same thing with Conor. Watch his early UFC fights in slow motion. Most of his opponents took a dive for a payday.
@@wooster0249 wayta? I never heard anyone saying the ref should have let him continue. He took way too much damage that noght, which is what he signed up for, regardless.
@@warrenstringham415If you think people are taking dives then what are you even watching for? It’s a waste of your time. Never mind. You don’t train MMA or any combat sports. If you did then you’d know that there isn’t anyone taking dives in the UFC.
“He might not think that was a good stoppage, but it saved him a few years on his life because I was about to put him out for good!” I don’t know how this quote didn’t go viral that’s cold blooded 😂🥶
This is actually a high pressure fight for O’Malley. A lot of people thought he was fighting some bum but Kris has heart and had nothing to lose so it made it tough for Suga
Nah that was a bad stoppage. If the ref or you people think he should've been saved from taking any more punishment then that fight should've been stopped way earlier not when there's seconds left...
@@americandissident9062 I only watch the buildups and pressers. That is it. The whole fighting aspect is fixed. They've been rigging shit since before the buyout and immediately after the buyout, its official category was changed from sport to entertainment in order to fix fights with immunity. Once the big boys took it over, they applied all the legal loopholes, and it's only gonna get worse. UFC = WWE
@@warrenstringham415 youve said this multiple times but the reality was that sean's opponent got injured and ufc didnt wanna risk throwing him at some of the people in the top 10 who were calling him out. yes the ufc doesnt wanna risk it but you cant deny sean belongs where he is in the division he is extremely talented and skilled fun to watch why complain and bitch about "rigging" when you can only speculate.
Herb gifted Sean that TKO. Kris would have survived those last 30 seconds and it would have been a unanimous decision but Herb gifted Sean a tko stoppage.
If I had to build the ultimate MMA fighter I would surely take the durability of Moutinho as part of my "build". Dude had potential, but kinda didn't seem as motivated as he would need to be to train hard and become a better fighter. Wish him the best
I remember laughing so hard when this fight happened. I hate to see a fighter absorb punishment like this, but I kept wondering what is going to take Muhtino out.
@@tiborzkarate1 Lol, so you are laughing like a buffoon, and people can't make a comment? I also find it weird. Usually people that laugh at this sort of thing are kinda vapid.
no moutinho was still walking forwards and herb called it a tko thats why joe doesnt understand moutihno absolutely wouldve been fine for the last 30 seconds if those punches were rlly hurting him that bad he wouldve been on the ground lol
Good stoppage. He was getting dissected all fight then getting dismantled in that last sequence regardless of him still being on his feet. With about 28 seconds left, O’Malley seemingly could’ve and would’ve done even more unnecessary damage to him. Lot of heart and fought the best he could but fight was over. Face was looking like road kill.
No matter if Sean dominated this kid, he came in with only a 4 day notice but they released him after this one fight. That sucked because i became a huge fan of him that night and i was going to root for him for the simple fact hes tougher than probably anybody i have ever watched. Herb definitely shouldn't have stopped the fight with only 30 seconds left, and Sean you were not going to knock him out, I don't know if anyone in light heavyweight could knock him out lol
People kind of forget that KM did land a few nice shots but O’Malley’s chin is actually pretty good. I remember KM landing a couple hard shots in a row at one moment in the second round and O’Malley wasn’t phased.
KM was never supposed to win. Are you slow or what? Do you really think they'd let some bum get ahead of their cash cow Sean O'Malley who sells PPVs and generates revenue for the UFC? Like I said before, they signed this kid last minute and paid him off to be the punching bag as they're building Sean up.
How was this scheduled??? This was Moutinho’s first fight in the UFC and Seans like 6 fight or sum. Even had a fight with Chito. This was an unfair set up and I feel bad.
Good stoppage. Dude was just gonna take more and still lose. O'Malley had already won the fight. Sure, there's a possibility O'Malley could lose, but what are we talking...1%? Or less?!
Joe will say “I don’t understand that” about this stoppage live but then go praise good stoppages on his podcast. This arguably should’ve been stopped a long time before
There is such a thing as too tough for your own good. Kris Moutinho is that guy. I had a friend that wouldn't stop talking shit, even if he was losing and getting beaten to a pulp. I have a feeling Kris is that type of dude. Don't get me wrong, if he had good offense and defense, he'd be a contender. But he doesn't.
, totally a good stoppage it first I thought it was a little Hurryi but then I realise it was a good stoppage and Chris was just taking source him could have hurted more
The whole fight he cept walking into punches, almost did not protect him self, and im with o malley saved him a few years, 30 second more and moutinho would talk the same as Mike Tyson😂
If you can’t strike as well, you need to move forward faster and take Shawn to the ground. That’s the only way. And you better have more strength and a decent ground game. I’ve fought taller opponents with a longer reach. Your going to take some shots going in. But you can win. I’m a smaller guy of 5-7” and a 145lbs. But you HAVE to shoot this kind of opponent. That’s the only thing that worked for me
All respect to herb dean one of the best in the business but how do you let this guy take all these shots and as Sean lands and beautiful combination with 30 seconds left in the round you decide I’ve seen enough?
We didn't know it at the time but O'Malleys the champ now. Sure he won against Sterling who had just had neck surgery but thats mostly Ajios fault. lol
Man this is the biggest skill gap in an mma fight since the early days of UFC. I don't like it too much to be honest, look at all the damage moutinho got.
