I posted on facebook asking if there was any interest in a video that showed some of the "behind the scenes" stuff that goes into our display and was answered with an overwhelming YES! I tried to include as many things as I could in this video and could have probably done a 30 minute video on each section if I went into detail. Depending on how this one does I may just do that during the off season.

There is a wealth of information in this video. I really like the behind the scenes type of stuff. On a personal note I like it when you narrate. I am NOT complaining and I will gladly watch it however you decide to produce it. LOL This is all really useful and solid information. A sincere THANK YOU for sharing. Y'all's display is EPIC!

I love the use of natural twigs, limbs, branches and grasses. Spanish moss is is one of my favorites, but the winds here are playing havoc with my display this year!!!

I just came across your channel and love every video. I've seen soooo many home haunt videos and they aren't anywhere as good as yours. Your haunt literally beats them all in practicality, visually stunning, cleverly designed, cost effective, and hand-made. Keep up the great content. You've given me great ideas on how I can improve my own. Thank you. 🙏

This is great stuff. Just as important and welcome as the display itself. Thank you.

Great, very helpful video! Some tips on the branches-as-trees: I do the same thing, but figured out a few things along the way. -If you prune live branches a couple weeks before Halloween, you'll have dead, dried leaves on them by Halloween night. (Of course, this depends on the weather where you live. It's pretty hot here, so it doesn't take long.) -Regarding the rebar: Sharpen the tip and paint everything a neutral dark color (e.g., gray/brown). If you have a bench grinder or angle grinder, the time you invest in sharpening the rods you'll get back every time you have to drive them into the ground. (I use rebar stakes for all sorts of things by clamping u-bolt to it: fencing, gravestones, etc.) The paint will help disguise it, but it will also keep the rust from getting all over your hands and clothes. -PVC mounting tubes: Cut some pipes at an angle. That will make it easy to drive into the ground. I usually paint mine black, but grey conduit tubing is almost too neutral to be noticed in the grass. If you get enough loose dirt out, then you can just "plant" the smaller "trees" into the tubes. I cut an assortment of sizes (mostly 1", 1.5", and 2") just in case I have a particularly gnarly branch that isn't straight enough to go in cleanly. Having it "planted" in the ground makes it much easier to stabilize at the top, and the smaller branches don't require anything else. -Get a spool of galvanized wire (maybe 16 gauge? I can't remember what I have). You'll find a million uses for it because it stays in whatever configuration you bend it into. Helps with tying trees to rebar, props to trees, etc. I can't remember what it's called, but you can get thick metal rods in the rebar section that have holes through them for running wire through, which makes for much better anchor points that don't shift when the wind blows. Keep haunting!

Great tips! Our yard is so soft I can push rebar into the ground a couple of feet by hand. I try to get about 3ft in if I'm attaching a branch to it. I prefer T-posts because they grab the ground better, I don't have to put them in as deep, they won't allow the limb to twist, and I can just use a few screws through the holes in them to attach the branches tho the front of them. I always struggle for leaves because it's still too warm here usually for the leaves to fall. They usually do a couple of weeks AFTER I need them. lol I actually used to have a fake stump made out of cement, foam and pvc pipe that I could attach branches into to make a small, bushy dead tree. It fell apart after about 5 years of use. It was super heavy and I also staked it down. Held branches really well.

Great tips and ideas thanks. Yes, what would we do without the good old fishing line and zip ties, I stock up on these throughout the year and also seem to go through 100's of them.

You misnamed this video. It should be called "101 Brilliant Ideas That You'll Wish You'd Thought of But Will Most Certainly Use Next Year." I'm only 3-1/2 minutes in and have already saved this to my "haunt tips, tricks, and techniques" playlist. Disguising the splitters as roots - ingenious! OK, I'm going back to the video now...

Any tips or institutional knowledge on the beef netting webs? This will be my first year using them (haven’t set up yet. I live in a very rural area and my Aunt and Uncle kindly lend their house in the suburbs for me to decorate. Usually all goes up the weekend before Halloween.)

This video is great and your house is great! Did you buy your fog machines with timers or add the timers?
@OakLaneCemetery
@OakLaneCemetery 26 дней назад
Timers are extra for most fog machines. I have no idea why the manufacturers don't just build in a timer or include one. Instead they usually just include a little push button thing on a cord to manually activate it and call that a "remote".

do you manually have to turn on the outdoor projector every evening, or does it come on and start playing its program automatically?

you show your projector around the 5 min mark. Can you recommend what kind you use?
@OakLaneCemetery
@OakLaneCemetery 2 месяца назад
That is an AAXA Halloween projector I was sent to evaluate and review. It's a solid little projector, borderline for doing window projections, but great for smaller areas like my spider scene. It is not recommended for outdoor use, but I keep it covered and sheltered and bring it in if the forecast calls for rain. - amzn.to/3V6Tfhp
