Richard Sterban the bass singer was hired by JD Sumner of the Stamps that backed up Elvis.JD Sumner actually sang under him.JD was in the guineas book of world records for hitting a Double low C

My guys-it’s time! Oak Ridge Boys were fantastic and now you have to see them pass the acapella crown to the genius Home Free! They all sing Elvira together. I’d start first with Home Free’s take on Man of Constant Sorrow. The best acapella group out there with a world champion beat boxer to boot adding a hip hop flavor to boot! They have a huge fan base and they will ALL will be coming your way because we support our guys big time! ❤❤❤❤❤❤

------ the studio version of this is super smooth and that bass voice is 2x as good as the live one. I'd invite the viewers to give it a listen.

If you want to hear more of that deep voice, listen to their song “Dream On”. His voice will blow you away in that one!

I'm a bass-baritone, and I blame trying to voice match Richard Sterban on that song as I was growing up.

In 81, Elvira, Abra Cadabra from Steve Miller and Sweet Dreams from the Eurythmics were the first radio songs I learned ALL the words to.

Hello fellas, glad to see this band being recognized, they have some really good tunes. And you have a good ear, the Oak Ridge Boys gospel songs were just as popular as their pop and country songs. Here's another one of their top hits to give a listen, if interested. "Oak Ridge Boys - I Guess It Never Hurts to Hurt Sometime (Live)" (by the channel: LowBase) As always it was fun rocking with you fellas. Thanks for sharing. peace out~

I`ve always loved this song! I remember in 7th grade chorus this was one of the songs we sang because it was brand new and our music teacher loved it. It was fun! Great reaction guys!

Fun video/reaction guys. I'm not a big country fan and don't recall any other Oak Ridge boys songs besides Elvira - a song I always enjoyed. The Bass singer here did some backup vocals(along with group he was part of) for Elvis Presley before joining the Oak Ridge Boys. Another country/pop 80s crossover you might want to react to is "Achy Breaky Heart" by Billy Ray Cyrus or perhaps some more Shania Twain.

I saw them in Branson when I was 19 and got to shake their hands. Erik Estrada was at the concert and got my picture taken with him. It was an epic 80s baby concert for me 😂😂

Gents- American Made and Gonna Take A Lot of River are two other fun great country chart topping songs from the Oak Ridge Boys in the 80s. Love to see you react to them also! Huge smiles throughout this whole reaction, finding out about Elvira and that iconic bass. Watching three lifelong friends go down this great music journey together, can’t thank you enough for the reactions. Thanks again gents and look forward to more reactions.

My sister & I saw them in concert. Richard's voice is so low that it is like a kick drum. You could feel the vibrations hitting you in the chest. Plus, his voice hurts the ears. I am not complaining, but that voice is D E E P!!

I saw the Oak Ridge Boys in concert in September 2023. They are still great singers even though all of them are in their 70’s or 80’s. One of them had to sit in a stool for the entire concert but he could still sing well. Oh, and the bass singer was still hitting those low notes right on pitch.

Misheard lyrics are always fun. My mother used to talk about a child who misheard a line in a hymn, or the name of the hymn as "Gladly, The Cross-Eyed Bear" - (though the story might have been fictional).

This is decent but doesn't exactly capture the sound of the recorded version, and tbh they were helped by studio magic. As for Elvira , check out her early modeling pictures as cassandra peterson.
