After a roller coaster of a year, the A's once again find themselves down in the 9th inning, only this time, with their season on the line. Ken Korach and Ray Fosse call the final at bat.
@@DimdzxoI appreciate that coming from a Giants fan. It’s sad management was too cheap to keep better players around. Would have had a great chance at another bay bridge series.
I was a Sophomore in high school during this season and I remember that just before the All-Star break we got hot, and kept rolling throughout the season, a Yankee sweep at home included, we snatched the division from the Rangers on G162 and were a few plays away from making a run at a World Series. I’ll never forget the magic during that season, from the walkoffs, to the sweeps, to the roaring Coliseum. Green and Gold till I’m Dead and Cold.
Was at this game with my little brother, and it'll probably be my favorite in-person sports memory for the rest of my life. The crowd had been subdued for most of the game and soon as Reddick got the leadoff single the whole Coliseum was absolutely buzzing
i was in the LFB sec. 134 !!! CRAZY!! i was screaming, yelling ,slapping high 5's all the way out to our car!! i don't remember how we got home, when i pulled up to the drive way i looked at my wife and said ''what just happened?..''
This was such a memorable season, and this was the most memorable game. The A's were below .500 and 13 games behind first place on June 30th. They took off after that. A month left in the season, the A's were on a roll. I looked at the schedule, last series of the season is against the Texas Rangers. The Rangers, class of the division, first place and just coming off of two WS appearances. I thought to myself: "that could be and epic series". The A's continue to climb in the standings. With 9 days left in the season, the A's are 5 games back. When the Rangers finally arrived for the final series, the A's had climbed to 2 games back of the Rangers. I went to the first game, A's win: playoff spot clinched and one game back of the Rangers. I went to the second game, brought a ton of people, tailgated. The stadium was rocking, you can tell the momentum is in the A's favor. A's win again, tied for the division lead. Winner takes all for the final game of the season. I went to game 3. Hamilton literally drops the ball in center field which was a major blunder, allowing the A's to rally. Balfour comes out to shut down the Rangers season. Wow. Incredible. A's face the Tigers in the division series. Lose the first two in Detroit. Come home. Brett Anderson pitches a gem and coco makes an amazing play in CF robbing a HR. A's win. I went to game 4. We know our backs are against the wall. But the stadium was loud anyway. For most of the game the A's couldn't put anything together. It wasn't until the 9th inning came. Buzzed, I turn to my friend and say sarcastically "we got this". Then this above rally happened. Just. Wow. What a season. Best week of baseball I ever experienced in person.
That is an amazing story. Thank you for sharing. There is nothing quite like a packed and loud Coliseum during a comeback, let alone one so memorable. The fact that you witnessed it live is fantastic.
@@mattguz55 Yeah, well we had the schedule in our favor the following year and didn't put them away in Game 4 when we had it. Up 3-0 and couldn't hold it. Seems like every year, our weaknesses get exploited in October.
I still come back to this video : the unexpected 2012 team, coco walk off with classic Ken and Ray (RIP) on the call, BoMel just acting like nbd, Bernie leannnnn. Let's Go Oakland! CGTCO!
This game was like a religious experience, in the bleachers and in the hallways, grown men were crying and strangers were hugging each other. It was unreal. And now, they're trying to take this team away from us
I was at game 3 right before that when Coco robbed Fielder of the home run. The crowd went nuts and they won 2-0 but this game 4 walk off takes the cake! Wish I was there to see that as well! Imagine if they didn’t have the tarps up! The 2012 A’s season was one of my favorites to follow with them having the 15 walk off wins and the A’s taking the AL west on game 162 against the Rangers. Such a fun team to watch!
I have been living away from the Bay Area since 1994, so I was not able to see any of these games live, which makes me sad when I think about it. Before 2015, the last game I saw at the Coliseum was in 2003 when Maddux and Hudson pitched against each other. That was the Jermaine Dye walkoff in the 12th.
I was at Game 3 too! Got a foul ball that I gave to kid and was on the TBS broadcast. My buddy and I thought I about staying (we're from Fresno) but we decided to head back. I still regret that. 2012 team still my all time favorite (been watching the A's since 1986).
Hold the earthquake, though please! ...but if I'm there when another earthquake hits, I'll tend to the injured with Community Emergency Response Team training
It sprinkled that night between innings. After that I just fucking knew. The crowd was one that night, it was fucking beautiful, section 232. Lets go Oakland!!
Lifelong A's fan since I was a kid in the 80's. Lots of great memories at the Coliseum. It's a damn shame they're moving to Vegas. The ownership of the A's is squarely to blame here. They've blamed the city and the fans for the organization's decline over the last several years but it's been a steady degradation of this organization by cheap, billionaire owners that has resulted in where they're at now. But this A's organization isn't what I remember, so Vegas can have em. With great ownership they would have already had their downtown ballpark (privately funded) and still be successful in Oakland. The A's have drawn close to 3 million fans and over 2 million many many times in their history even after Beane and cheap ownership traded established starts years before they hit free agency; it's isn't the fault of the fans that is for sure.
Donaldson, Reddick, Coco, plus many more good players. Oh what a season! I was at this game and let me tell you it was one of the best games I’ve attended! Imagine if the A’s would have kept this team assembled. When they traded Céspesdes, everything else went down hill. But that’s what happens when you have the best farm in the country.
I was there for game 162 that year vs Rangers. I thought that was the most exciting game I had gone to in my life.....this one put it to shame. Also fuck Verlander.
