morrieswigs the raider skins super bowl was the last NFL Films highlight he ever did, he died a few months later. Appropriately it was a raider game...
I honestly haven't followed the Raiders since 1986. Now having said that, I did follow them from 1981 to 1986. These are the Raiders that I remember. I wonder if anyone realizes that Tom flores is the only person in NFL history who has 4 Super Bowl rings who ISN'T IN THE HALL OF FAME. he should be in as Jim Plunkett should be. Tom Flores won a Super Bowl as Len Dawson's back up in Kansas City in Super Bowl IV. Then he was one of John Madden's assistants in Super Bowl XI. Then he won two as Raiders head coach in Super Bowl XV and XVIII.
WAYYYYYYYYYYY incorrect. Eric Wright, Keena Turner, Jesse Sapolu, Bill Romanowski, Steve Furness, Donnie Shell, MATT MILLEN, Rocky Bleier, and Mike Wilson all have four Super Bowl titles as players. Will never sniff the Hall of Fame with the exception of Shell. That's a ridiculously false stat. Flores isn't the only multiple winning SB coach not in the Hall either. Jimmy Johnson (who I think is more deserving) and George Seifert had better records and more wins. Not sure either makes the Hall. Flores would've had a better case if he hadn't gone to Seattle and completely stunk up there (14-34 in three years). The narrative that he was basically the extension of Al Davis looked valid when he was so bad there.
I’m a pats fan through and through but I can’t help but admire the hell out of the raiders and their fans could be cause my pops is a massive raiders fan but still I do hope you guys make it to a super bowl again soon
Plunkett not being in the HOF is a damn shame. I know there are way more other former Raiders as deserving but for them to petition to get Kurt Warner, a QB with a similar journeyman career, as a first ballot inductee is a damn slap in the face to Mr. Plunkett. It's all politics and favorites. Just another obvious sign the NFL dislikes this great franchise! JUST WIN BABY!
Well there are voters who have publicly said that as long as they're alive, stabler will not get in the Hall. They hold grudges against him and I'm sure they feel the same about the raiders organization. I hope Timmy gets in tonight. Also need to get Branch in there as well along with a long line of other Raiders that are well deserving.
sk8bordmylesP I know Stabler has done some stupid shit off the field, but it's supposed to be about playing the game not a popularity or character contest. Otherwise, there are many of the 1990's "Cocaine Cowboys" from Dallas that should be barred and removed as well. It is stupid and petty to keep many of the 1970's Raiders out of the HOF.
I remember the Raiders when they played in Los Angeles in the 1980's and 1990's when I lived in California and I never forgotten how amazing it was to be a fan of the silver and black A.K.A. the Raiders because they were my favorite team for the longest time since the 1980's
Ive been a Raiders fan since 1974 and with me it's not just being a fan of a team its more like a marriage, Ive been with the Silver and Black thru great and horrific times but I couldn't imagine being with another team. RN4LF 🏴☠️☠🏴☠️☠🏈🏆🏆🏆
I'm a Bills fan but always rooted for Oakland whenever Buffalo was done for the year...which was just about every year in the 70s. Always hated Miami and Pittsburgh and they were the Raiders toughest opponents in the AFC in the 70s. So that left me rooting for the Raiders quite often in big games. Loved it when they beat Miami in the Sea of Hands game and stomped Pittsburgh in the 76 AFC Championship
rustinpeace1992 Chucky has a way of exploiting every once of talent. Carr,Coop,Crabtree, Mack,to name a few not counting the draft picks,it's on ,JUST WIN BABY!
I love watching these videos. The game was way harder to play and dirtier back then. Facemasks, Horse-Collar, Roughing the Passer, clipping... Those were hardly called! LET EM PLAY NFL: No Fun League
Goodell actually was the last commissioner that really made it the No Fun League. It actually started with Tagliabue or whatever the fuck his name was. He was busy fighting Al Davis and slowly making the league more corporate.
Kim Martin Yeah I couldn't stand the NFL and gave up on football from 2006-2012 (even though I still watched Raider games during that span). It's more like a soap opera now. Honestly you just get shit like people not like Cam Newton and how it's Peyton's "Last Rodeo". Whatever the hell that means.
+Sitizen Kane Speaking as an English raiders fan; I'd have to say that as much as I love Stabler's team, the Plunkett era was how I define the Raiders. It seems that after the Jamarcus Russell debacle we've found a gem in Derek Carr.
# . The game was way harder to play and dirtier back then the players today are bigger and have shorter careers. a lot of the rough play you saw in these vids results in really bad lifelong debilitation. Stabler had bad CTE from all the hits he took.
The Raiders had everything. The crazy personalites, the crazy finishes, the blown calls, 3 Superbowls in 7 years, a rabid fan base, the slogans(Commitment to Excellent, Pride and Poise, the best MNF record for 20 years) and now it's all gone except the memories. I'm so glad I lived thru it all as a child(Raider fan since 67', six years old living in San Francisco).
Most in Los Angeles Raider Defense doing a doomsday black. A Washington Redskins was defeated in 38 - 9. A Marcus Allen in MVP A famus player in Running Back.
Hector Alvarado Greatest SB game ever remember it like it was yesterday sitting on a ship in Norfolk Va 448 people cheering for. the Redskins and me and one other guy praying for a Raider victory the ship was.real quiet 10 minutes into the game can nlt wait for their return to glory
I HATED the Raiders! But they were awesome in my youth! I am now 52' and from the east bay, I loved the Vikings as a kid, always broke my heart! Oakland was the place in the 70's! Raiders and the A's......classic memories!
I'm a Bills fan but I agree. Gruden hadn't coached in 10 years and didn't even take Tampa to the playoffs once in his last 6 years on the job. Maybe the most overrated head coach in NFL history. And letting Mack walk was a COLOSSAL mistake. Gruden will be fired after about 3 years and they'll be stuck paying him $10 million a year for 7 more years while they also pay the guy who's actually coaching the team
Plunkett is very underrated in the history of the league as far as Great QB's go. I mean 2 SB wins, that's a small group with who can share that feat w him.
Raiders 1st Wild Card Playoffs To Win A SuperBowl! ⚪️☠️⚫️ no other team was like the Raiders who made it happen ! Til this day we are still Number 1 🔥💯
I felt that I went back in time when I watch this video, if there is one unique an inspiring organization in football that has to be the Raiders. I moved to Los Angeles in 1981 and the talk of the town that year in college football was Marcus Allen who played for USC and won the Heisman trophy then I heard that there was a football team that was planning to move to Los Angeles from Oakland named the Oakland Raiders and then when I heard that the Raiders selected Marcus Allen in the draft in 1982, it was a blessing for football and I felt attracted immediately when I saw those men in silver and black coming out of the tunnel at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum and in less than two years the Raiders won a Super Bowl trophy for the city of Los Angeles for the first time. I automatically became a Raider fan until this day regardless of the bad times that they are going through right now. I loved those NFL films narrated by John Facenda and filmed by Ed Sabol. The way the Raiders played in those three Super Bowl victories would have caused for the entire Raiders team to be ejected from the game nowadays with the new rules that the NFL have in place now in 2018. I discovered a website where all the jerseys from all the old Raiders' legends were available with the exception of Mike Haynes #22 and Super Bowl champion with Raiders in Super Bowl XVIII in 1984. Sadly the website was shut down I guess by a court order. I regret not buying all those jerseys when I saw them for the first time.
glad you enjoyed the video and it brought back some great memories. On the subject of the entire team being ejected, check out his vid of the 1983 AFC championship. The entire team would have been ejected by the end of the first quarter in this game......lol. Raiders vs. Seattle 1983 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dnRDg_Js9fQ.html
Does anyone know the music that starts at 11:456 and 12:59. It is NFL Films music, obviously. However, after going over about every NFL Films song on RU-vid, I have not been able to find it. Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated.
so true. When AL moved the Raiders to Los Angeles, that was the beginning of the end. In the 70's, every NFL team and fans hated the Raiders, and their motto was "Us against the World" which made them play hard for each other and they did magical things as a team. Once they went to Hollywood, they became the "Raider Nation" or America's team and lost the "Us against the World" vibe that made them so successful. Been 30 years of crap since then except for a year of Bo Jackson and 3 years from 2000-02.
This is the greatest Raider team to date; they completely shut Washington down, and scored almost at will. Can you imagine if Derek Carr had these weapons at his disposal?
as a life long Raider fan, the only complaint i would have for any of their Super Bowl appearances is that win or lose they were all blow outs. i would have liked to see a competitive game.
+geeterman98 not me......domination was always an AL Davis Raider theme for the team and backing that up in the biggest games in Raider history was great to see. Especially with the magical plays by Fred Biletnikoff, Kenny King and Marcus Allen.....
i know, but all 3 wins were decided before half time and sadly so were the 2 loses. the Viking Super Bowl was never even competitive from the get go. i watched the whole game just because the Raiders have sucked for the last 12 years so it was nice to see them dominate.
Yes, kids, once upon a time the Raiders not only were relevant but the most consistent winners for over a decade. And, they won three championships in eight seasons. That's back when I was little. A long, LONG time ago...
either did helmet to helmet contact, chop blocking and a forearm to the head and neck area. They were illegal but not called very often by the refs. The 70's Raiders got away with all of that including punching to the throat of a receiver at the line of scrimmage.
And who could have ever imagined that super bowl XVIII, thirty seven year ago that would be the last super bowl won by a Raiders team ? Quite depressing really.
that is bizarre to think about but after 1983 the game was changing, AL Davis was clearly past his prime in evaluating players along with the distraction of trying to getting his own stadium built. He made a nice comeback in the early 2000's but that ended strangely, losing in the Super Bowl to the coach he fired the year before.
@@johnmongani5223 Rightly revered by fans and players alike, he was flawed and correctly stated did not do the Raiders much good after a while. I have heard some say the rot started when he traded the best running back Marcus Allen away and the teams fortunes slid into the crapper. He was involved on to many levels and his draft choices in the main were terrible. In some ways the organisation are still paying today. Even the new owner gruden and mayock have drafted badly and let go some great assets. When an 87 year old QB is winning his 7th ring, the Raiders stand no chance at all.
@@quotemenot7520 oh yeah Gruden is way overrated. Giving that guy 100 million was not smart by Mark Davis but he has no clue and no business being an NFL owner. Yep trading Marcus came back to bite AL. Marcus had big games vs. the Raiders.
@@johnmongani5223 So true John on both counts, far too many mistakes and bad decisions which has hurt the club so badly, and still continues to do so. I still cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel.
The Raiders would’ve had 7 Super Bowl’s 1976: OAK 32 - MIN 14 1980: OAK 27 - PHI 10 1983: WSH 9 - LA 38 1990: LA vs NYG 1993: DAL vs LA 2001: STL vs OAK 2016: OAK vs ATL
1981 Marcus Allen #32 usc rulres the raiders with us #10 Bobby Chandler #53 rod Martin usc and Todd marinavitch #13, canyonlocalfilmscom coach Madden said to the snake don't mind that the horeses are blind just load up the Wagons
Even though I'm a Steelers fan, I utterly detested the Redskins that year for their arrogance and the game's result spoke VOLUMES for their response. Idiot Riggins ran his mouth for an entire week before he got held to only 60+ yds rushing, then afterward he refised to talk to the media, which he got fined for. Owner Jack Kent Cooke whined about it and Rozelle fined him as well for detrimental conduct. He detested Cooke for the remainder of his term. His successor Tagliabie detested him as well. What a team of pigs.
WOW, Raider fan's still talk about loss to my beloved Patriots. Never seem to mention the next year when they blame that Super Bowl loss blaming the opposing coach saying he knew there plays? Been a long time since I graduated high school in 1983. Oh yea that's the last time the (any city) Raiders won it all. Stop putting the blame on other's. And you fan's born after 1983 never seen them win. How does that feel? Ask a CUBS fan the last time they won it all was 1906!!
you know Brady fumbled. Refs made up the tuck rule on the spot to avoid a riot....lol. And besides the Bucs knowing all of the Raider plays because their coach designed them all the year before, the Raiders center had a nervous breakdown the night before the game and never showed up to play. Was in Tijuana drinking beer. Raiders have been in the playoffs 9 times since 1983.
Drinking in Mexico is not a nervous breakdown!! Don't you change the plays from the coach you fired? Must of been a good coach to win the Superbowl against the but-head that let you go. And the only year Patriot's missed playoff's is when Brady missed whole season and Matt Castle went 11-5 that is 16 out of 17 years and 7 Super Bowls with 5 wins. And the perfect season if not for the Jersey Giants. Patriots have the by far Best Quarterback, Coach and Owner the NFL will ever see, period!! Remember the AFC always goes through NEW ENGLAND with it's 5 STATES of die hard fan's. I will enjoy watching the Pat's gamble with the Radier's in sin city. Maybe I wont get beat up cheering for my team in a safe place not in THE BLACK HOLE!!! I like pink better.
Lawrence Murphy well Lawrence i remember when your pats want wort a dam like in the 60s 70s oh and the 80s.Raiders are coming back and Brady will be gone soon then you will be cheering for the same old pats. Lol
