Oakland Raider Ken Stabler highlites 1972-76 

How I miss those days. Just my opinion - Ken Stabler had a "la magie" in his play that made him the most dangerous QB to have ever played in the NFL. If there was any chance of finding a way to win, he could do it - some of the most incredible wins I've ever seen. Truly, the most deserving of the HOF. He will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

To this day, a left-handed QB draws my attention because it immediately reminds me of Ken Stabler. He was an incredible player.

My favorite "Raider Years." Snake was the perfect QB for this group. Madden was coach. A really great "team," playing great ball.

All any of us have to say is. "The Snake" and we automatically grin. Yeah he was that cool.

These highlights really take me back to when I watched these games live with my father when I was a kid. The Raiders were our team and he's passed on, but it's almost 50 years since these games were played and for me it's still, "Just win, baby!"

RIP Snake. You were the best.

Snake was the greatest! Love these old calls. Curt Gowdy was one of the best in the business. I'm glad I got to see Ken Stabler and the Raiders in a Pre-Season game in the Summer of 1976 against the then St.Louis Cardinals in Tempe, Arizona. They were fantastic. You always knew when Stabler was in the game, they were never out of it.

At the 2:21 mark, two of the greatest players in NFL and Oakland Raider history.....Number 16, the immortal George Blanda, and the greatest QB in Raider history, Kenny "The Snake" Stabler.

Great video of a great QB. I loved that team! And to see 3 touchdowns thrown to my cousin Mike Siani was the icing on the cake!

I've never been a Raiders fan, but I always give credit where credit is due, and to this day I'm baffled as to why neither Ken Stabler nor Jim Plunkett are in the hall of fame. Did both quarterbacks have a few bad seasons? Of course. But so did Joe Namath. So did Fran Tarkenton. So did Bart Starr. So did Johnny Unitas.

I like how just about all of these feature George Blanda extra points.

Stabler was one of a kind and I think the greatest leader of all time at the QB position and the most clutch QB of all time also ...but there is a true freshman left hander at LSU named Max Johnson (Son of Brad Johnson) who reminds me a lot of Stabler.

I have watched pro football and basball and kept up with it since about 1970 I was 8 younger fans don't remember the antenna days have been blessed to c some really great players and teams in my life been huge die hard raider fan since 1969 I was 7 when I got a raider uniform for Christmas number 22 I started little league football next season played thru little league and high school had it rough being raider fan in a small town in South East Tennessee they were great every year from 72-77 I can honestly say if I had to choose a QB to win a big game to this day it would be ken Stabler u knew in those days u had a good chance to win every time they played a incredible time in pro football the only way I can really describe the snake is he was what Greg Maddux was to pitching u knew the raiders had a great chance to win with him at QB rip snake one of the greatest of all time it is a shame u are not in the hall of fame

Awesome! Nobody was cooler or threw nicer footballs than Kenny Stabler. Master of come from behind wins. Did you see this, HOF? Shame on the election panel for not having one of the best ever QBs enshrined.

This vid is awesome. Brought back so many childhood memories of the great Ken Stabler and the Raiders. My lifelong fandom of this team was cemented during the Stabler era!

I was at a bar a few years back and heard a Ken Stabler story. The guy I was drinking with went up to Snake and said, "I don't like the Raiders, but Kenny you are a Bad Dude..." Snake laughed and hugged him and bought him a drink.....,

Snake was an excellent athlete; was offered a contract by the New York Yankees, and a star at Alabama. Given that, it was unbelievable that he was sent to the minor league Spokane Shockers to play in the Continental Football League. That illustrates, 1) the talent on the Raiders, and 2) the huge difference between the NFL and college 50 years ago.

The 70's Raiders team had a great secondary. The Assasin Jack Tatum, George Atkinson, Dr. Death, Willie Brown

Growing up a Steelers fan, I really disliked Stabler. Looking back at his career, he was a great football player.

Like Staubach and Montana, Stabler should've started 2 years earlier than He did. I can only imagine the Thrills Stabler would've provided for us had he started 2 years earlier.

When I was a kid I always thought Stabler and the Raiders were cool as hell... but Go Cowboys!!!

When the nfl still played football -!: quarterbacks were actually football players. I think the 70’s were the greatest decade for the nfl. I love how the guys just hand/toss the ball back to the red most of the plays. No extravagant celebrations like they never scored before. I love watching these old highlights more than I enjoy watching the live crap the nfl puts out now. Every tackle you have to wait for a second to see if the defense tackled too hard

After growing-up on the Raiders from 1967 - '84 watching NFL today is 'rough'- too many penalties called, the Defenses have been "De-masculinized" and Nobody can Touch the QB- this ain't Real Raider football!!!!!

Absolutely nothing about The Great Snake....but damn I just realized how weird Blanda kicks the ball!!

Is it just me? Damn do I miss 70's NFL Football. Their was still respect for the game. Coach Madden wearing a Tie, & zero ridiculous TD celebrations like today's Football. I was in HS in the 70's. I too was Left Handed, & I studies all the physical moves of Stabler, & it helped me personally during the Football Season. I started out as the 3rd String QB. In my HS, I experienced for the first time in my Life, Racisms!!! It was pathetic!! It was the Mexican V. Blacks. Our Team was half-'n-half. We're playing our cross town arch enemies, & the Blacks on the OL were letting the Defense just go by, & I was getting the shit beat out of me. They were also laughing @ us all. @ Half Time, I screamed @ everyone & said: "Fucken Stop it NOW! We're wearing the same Helmets!!! They're laughing @ us all. We lost, & I went home in tears. Life went on, & I became a Criminal Defense Attorney in Tucson. To this day, when I run into any of our former players, they all say to me that it's their greatest regret in Life for giving up & throwing the game against the FUCKEN Sunnyside Blue Devils. To this day, I still take it so personal. When I've gone up against a Prosecutor who just happen to go to SS HS, it still burns me, even though I kick their Asses in Trial. Why? Because I still remember that game, & how much I still hate Sunnyside. It was the Projects against the Middle class Mexicans who had both parents @ Home, & the majority of us @ Pueblo were from the Projects, in a single parent home. That's why, & fucken Sunnyside never let us for get that....

What many, if not most NFL fans tend to forget, is that Peyton Manning played and Tom Brady currently plays in an exceedingly weak era in NFL history because there have been no great teams in the AFC at all other than the Patriots during the Brady era. Brady has had no great teams to challenge him! The Indianapolis Colts under Manning were not a great team! They were a very good team that lost way too many postseason games! The NFC has had no great teams at all during the Brady era to challenge the Patriots which explains the Patriots' absurd record of 8 Super Bowl appearances under Brady.

Stabler's was a great regular season quarterback, but when it came down to winning the conference championships, he did not live up to the moment...his 1-4 record does not compare to Bradshaw's 4-2, Griese 3-0, Staubach 4-2 , and even Tarkenton 3-1...bottom line it's about winning
