Oasis - Animation Short Film 2019 - GOBELINS 

can we all just take a moment to appreciate the scenery as well as character design.....and don't forget the absolutely stunning art style

So the special plant as it's gotten older has gotten weaker and the oasis has shrunk to only the small area around it. The revived plant was corrupted by sand and was eating up the oasis as the sand does, but then eating a piece of sand-repelling plant fixed it, and it turned out to be a baby of the special plant and being young and strong was able to revive the whole area that the parent plant once covered.

Without mistakes, risk taking and failure, there cannot be growth. Great little short.

Ok so the story as I understand it is that the older generation is trying to maintain prosperity, but the way they did that is no longer effective. The new generation is trying to do something different because the old way isn’t working. The old generation doesn’t like this and scolds the younger generation that this is the way. When the new generation puts their plan into action, at first it seems to go horribly wrong in the eyes of the old generation, when in reality it is simply destroying what was built before to build something better. The older generation is to busy trying to save what cannot be saved instead of moving forward. The plan of the new generation only starts working when they realize they must also destroy the old plan. That’s why he fed the Groot monster thing the plants that keep out the dust. The plants that keep our the dust are part of the old oasis, the old flower, the old plan. To get something better he gives it up. Edit: It has been a year and I want to tell you all right now that this wasn’t a good theory. Upon review, I can’t see it doesn’t make sense at points and it’s not as profound as the wall of text suggests. My point is, please actually read it and come to your own conclusions. Do the thinking! You’ll enjoy it.

What's cool is that there's a story like this, that actually happened! Not with all the magic and such but, this one guy started planting trees and turned a desert into a rainforest

This had me off my seat from beginning to end, incredible.

To me, I feel like this is a reference to desertification (when deserts grow unchecked due to sparse vegetation). The woman is clearly trying to preserve the forest and initially frowned upon the boy's use of the magic water. Sometimes, when it comes to environmental policies, people are hesitant to instigate anything new because they fear its repercussions, and in this the consequences take the form of the monstrous plant. Ultimately, the raging plant gave way to growth, symbolizing how at times it is necessary to endure some hardships and set-backs in order to move environmental policies forward (or anything for that matter).

The animation is amazing!! I love how in the end things got way better than in the beginning by letting the kid participate and joining forces

It’s important to preserve the past. But we must always make a better future 🥰

i’m not sure if i’m reading too much into this, but i thought it was showing the struggles of a single mother. despite the impending doom of vastness around them the mother tries her best to keep her son away from the dangers and the desert and tries to put on a brave face so he doesn’t worry. she plants the seeds symbolizing the establishment of responsibility and hardwork allowing her son to watch so that when the time comes he has learned enough to be successful on his own and persevere. the lessons she taught him eventually leading to their prosperity.

Wow!! He made a mistake, learned a valuable lesson, then created something wonderful..

I don't get how he defeated the plant monster but still awesome animation!!

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the story and the moral the kid accomplished greatness because he knew his mother was sad about what he did and it was all his fault and if the mother blamed all of him than he wouldn't have able to did what he did (morale of the story never trust anyone so quickly take your time to understand someone and trust them)- the plant

So basically, they could have never obtained progress by keeping to the old methods, the boy thought of a new solution and even though it had to dispose of the old magic plant which was already in such a bad state, the kid managed to plant a much stronger magic plant that extended the island much further. So the moral here is to not always stick with the same traditional methods, and that growth requires taking risks

What a brave little boy save the day and went from OASIS to a PEACEFUL LOVING FOREST.

We all live in an oasis....... an oasis of...fear,stupidity,pessimism, And we have no courage to change it due to the fear of future....just like that's mother..and try get satisfied but always encountered by thought of getting out of it The story tells us.....a generation is here to brake the rule and take up the challenge and brink perfection in life

This film has some of my personal favorite colors and designs on the channel-- these characters are cute and feisty! *spoiler* I theorize that this desert used to be full of life like we see in the end, but it was dwindling and dying slowly. The girl's plant was tired and used up, but the boy's plant was new and full of potential.

So to move foward to a better future sometimes we must stop the old ways first.
