Had he gone through the correct whistleblower channels, we would never have known about this. He would have been quietly dealt with. He did the right thing.
Snowden wasn’t a whistleblower… to be a whistleblower you have to go through the proper channels… he just sent everything to Wikileaks after he fled America. When you do that you forfeit whistleblower protections and are committing acts of espionage…
@@GrinerB u really think the government of the country you are attempting to expose would suddenly be all peachy and protect you when you have the amount of dirt Snowden had?

He's saying he made whistle-blowing legal, but that what Snowden did was somehow different. I don't know what his version of "whistle-blowing" is, but I'm not sure it fully involves telling us the truth. Cause he's evidently pissed at Snowden for doing it. And, he's saying there should be a fair and rational debate about the law, but how can a debate be fair, if all of the facts are not available. Knowledge is power, and big brother's mad because Snowden empowered us a little.
"Like every American citizen he can come here, before the court, with a lawyer and make his case." Did Abdulrahman al-Awlaki get that opportunity Mr. President?
Was that the U.S. Citizen that Obama had killed on foreign soil? He had no business doing that Muslim or no Muslim..Why wasn't Obama impeached for that?
It's funny listening to how Obama says he should have dealt with it. Meanwhile snowden explained how the legal channels simply wouldn't allow for anything to be revealed.
Make his case? It has been proven multiple times that he would not receive a fair trial...he has said that himself multiple times. The jury would only be allowed to determine weather or not he did or didn't do it. The jury would be forbidden from speculating on WHY he did it. That doesn't sound fair to me, if they could speculate on why he did it, then that would put the government on trial, and they would never let that happen. But Ed has said himself he would be more than happy to face trial if it was fair and just.
Obama please go live at your luxury mansion you have recently purchased and lead an extravagant life style. Edward Snowden did a lot for this country, you simply don't want to accept it. So
Snowden is a hero. He did what he did as an act of transparency involved in the freedoms of the public. Any treatment of his acts as a crime to me seems like an overstep.
Yea right Obama...there would have been no debate without Snowden....why did not we have the debate when they were being put in place than or when you came into office?
whatever he does there's always going to be criticism. if he sides with Snowden people were going to flip their shit. if he says a middle of the road answer, people are going to call him two-faced. Snowden definitely shouldn't come back b/c they're going to throw the book at him like they did to Manning.
A lawful procedure would have swept the NSA's programs under the rug. If Obama was calling for reform earlier, obviously that meant he KNEW some of the particulars of these programs. I have no doubt these programs were sponsored under the Obama administration. A " thorough review of the surveillance operation" would have been a formality at best. No public debate would have ever made it to the surface.
Fantastic public speaking deflective strategy. He was definitely a lawyer. But in reality lol he knows the real obama is selling his soul with this speech. Deep down in his heart he knows what snowden did was brave and honorable. This speech shows you obama has a boss.
"if in fact he believes what he did was right...He can come here. Up here before the court, with a lawyer. And make his case." The espionage act: Hold my beer.
I can understand some way Trump didn't pardon Snowden, but Assange, even after Project Veritas released his call with the state department...come on. He was the first victim of free speech
In 2007 this two bit Senator from Illinois was campaigning and telling the US public how the NSA programs went against who we are as a people ... now in his final term in office he is just now getting around to re-assessing these programs ... The US public should show this pin head exactly where the majority stands by demanding Snowden's return home to relieve Eric Holder of his position.
why should the NSA get to debate about the NSA's actions before deciding whether or not to release info about their unlawful actions against us...??? Makes no sense
