After a state dinner in Argentina, President Obama and his wife watched a tango performance. Originally published at - www.voanews.com/media/video/32...
calonstanni I just don't like jokes based on ignorance. That's how the uneducated form their opinions on subject-matter they don't have a clue on. Of course FOX will spin things out of whack, most people who don't live their lives based on television know this. But calling something so beautiful as Tango "communist music" is not only utterly RETARDED it's ludicrous and borderline moronic. Fool.
Living in South America, seen Mr Obama only on the TV News but remember him dancing JLo`s Get Right at Ellen De Generes Show and been asked to dance tango by Mora Godoy, Argentina's First Tango Professional Dancer and yeah, he was always comfortable. Remarkable Barack Obama.
Tango was actually a bullfighting thing or a dance between two men in a dual over a woman. The dips were added for romance dancing. Sometimes the men challenged each other over who could keep a straight face. I don’t know how much time they had for lessons, but he was so cute. If he was the bull, the lady won with stunning footwork! The music kept on and my caption would be “Ok Shelly, she won, are we done here? “ LoL…toreadors Chicago is more African-jazzy feel. It’s more common to “shake it so”, like Captan Picard on a silly. So the scene in “Scent of a Woman” and “True Lies” used this song just to make that point. Eventually, it was mainstreamed , but I prefer Salsa. There’s never room in clubs for that kind of thing. Think, Morticia and Gomez bc we’re American-Gothic folks. It’s a thing. My Grandma was born in Wichita. We’re from Bass Reeves country.
I actually feel for him, he looked terrified. I don't know how to Tango, but he looked like he did pretty good to me. And yes, "Rome is burning" but he can't stay on the visit (representing America) and refuse their customs. He chose to stay, so he absolutely had to indulge. I still give him an F as our President, but a solid A+ for trying the dance.
+ 2DebbieDoo I am an Egyptian and you may consider my comment is irrelevant , but I think Obama did a great job, he is making a gigantic reforms in your foreign policy and economy. I wish he could have succeeded in limiting gun use in USA because it is so sad when in a civilized country like yours , it is common to have sad crimes
Amr Sakr I hear you and I respect your opinion. However, I vehemently disagree. Gun laws only affect those who follow the law. Therefore, criminals would not alter their crimes, they would just become more creative in executing them. The laws leave the innocent unable to protect themselves. Precisely why the writers of our Constitution left no "wiggle room" in the 2nd Amendment. As far as a "gigantic reform..." I look around the world and wonder how the policies of the left can be seen as positive. Although, I don't believe in nation building or inflicting democracy on those who don't wish it, once the enemy starts crossing borders, destroying civilizations and centuries of historical artifacts, I would hope someone would have the strength to annihilate them. With a military, like we used to have before Pres. Obama decimated it, this should take a matter of months, not 13 years. Lastly, the economy? Record numbers on welfare and out of the work force. On average, less than 1% growth. We can do better, and we have in the past. With a new leader, hopefully we will again in the future. Certainly not with someone promising a lot of freebies with other peoples earnings.
+2DebbieDoo "Gun laws only affect those who follow the law." Lol, so what caused a person with illegal possession of a firearm to be booked and jailed? Me thinks it might be something.. maybe the law he broke and was charged with breaking. I mean, jeez, you could take that line and apply it to anything. Banking, private property, whatever. You know some people follow the law not because they believe in it but because of the punishment in breaking the law involves. So knowing that, some laws make X thing illegal, in varying degrees of penalty. That dissuades some people. It provides a disincentive for people to engage in the illegal. Yeah, you're right that criminals will find ways around sometimes. The really entrepreneurial criminals, the smart ones, they'll find ways around it. The not so smart ones, or AKA the common criminal? Arrested - or, even better, dissuaded from even trying due to the potential penalties. You're basically arguing to not put up any disincentive.... so you're making it even easier for criminals to get around. How is this better? If we take your reasoning to heart, why pass any law? Oh bother, crooked bankers will always find a way around! The shady landlord will always worm out of the pesky laws. The nefarious doctor will always cut corners. PS: 2nd Amendment guarantees right to bear arms.. for militias. The fact that the document doesn't actually provide any detailed and specific way for interpretation actually lends itself to wiggle room. That's kinda the point of a Republic - the ability to change and amend. We can argue about intent, purpose, whatever, but the SCOTUS already settled this in the individual's favor. The fact that they even HAD to tells you there was wiggle room, obviously. The fact that Jefferson and Hamilton had completely different visions for the role of government in the Republic tells us the Founding Fathers are not some collective group of like-minded gentlemen. They were brought together by necessity, and provided a frame of relation with each other under suspicion of not only Britain - but themselves. edit: typo found.
Give him a break. He politely declined but was in a situation where the Argentinian president set this up. To refuse would have been an insult. It's called being diplomatic. International politics. And tango is sacred in Argentina.
+susan keogh Ye give him a break. I despise the man, he's an awful president but he was in Argentina on a State visit, representing America. Whether he refused or accepted, someone will find a criticism.
+Intuitivelogic www.cbsnews.com/news/obamas-top-10-accomplishments-according-to-obama/Great President! especially taking into account he hasn't had any shoes thrown at him during any visits outside this country.
I am thinking... what Kery spoke with the comrades of the FARC on Cuba? Oh, I know, he said "Please, stop to kill childrens, workers and soldiers". (it's a joke, leftist) www.periodismosinfronteras.org/protesta-frente-a-embajada-americana-por-encuentro-kerry-farc.html
As somebody familiar with Argentine Tango (and privy to online spanish chatter after this incident), Apparently, Mora Godoy wanted this but Obama said no before the dinner. You can see him turning to Macri suggesting he do it instead, and at the end you can see him wrestle her off as the photographer steps into frame. A very droll video, and shows that she has some nerve...🤣. Viva Argentina!
on behalf of America I apologize you had the displeasure of having our president in your country. and to the pore women forced to dance I hear crying in the shower with the water running for a day helps alot.
Priorities, Mr. President. Are you in cruise control until you leave office? It looks like you could give two flying you know what's as the world is imploding on itself? You know what go ahead and dance, "let them eat cake" right? We are a nation of free thinkers and butt kickers so we will just take it from here. I am sick of being the laughing stock of the world. January cannot get here fast enough.
+Jake Washburn Please tell me of all the places you've travelled and had people tell you that Obama is a disgrace? Because most other places that I go people love Obama.
