Hey guys welcome back to the channel! In today video I convert my obd0 Honda Civic b16a to obd1. Ive finally got all the parts since the mail has been a little crazy.
Thanks for this video! I have a P30 ecu just waiting for me to convert to OBD1, might throw a Hondata s300 in there too. I love the idea of being able to hook my ecu up to a computer and see everything that's going on. Really helps to see how to do it. You need to get yourself a heater out there in the shop looks damn cold. Sending you some warm vibes from SoCal!
Thank you sir! It’s been in the single digits here all week in north eastern PA 🥶🥶 deff going to invest in a wood stove before next winter. Glad I could give some insight on how this looks when done, I’ve been wanting to do this for a while and get some footage out, Just gotta get some road footage now 👍
Great video bro, glad to see it running now get out there and enjoy it. And I know the feeling of just not having enough time to get busy in the garage but priorities you know
@@Tycrx89 those aluminum foil baffles in there couldn’t take it, I have the same exhaust it’s better than what was on it originally but I’m making the switch to something nicer soon now that my hatch is back in pieces
I should of of known better going in with 100 dollar eBay special, you get what you pay for but deff onto something more solid. Prob will end up keeping the piping and just look into something reputable for a muffler.
My uncle did a obd0 to obd1 jumper harness on his DA9 B20vtec instead which is fine kinda like the obd2 to obd1 conversion on a EM1 or later DC models but he might do a rywire on his 1990 DA so it can run big injectors
Great content great video im stuck on the same place right know my car wont star the damm injectors wont open they only part i dont get is the extra 4 wire
Good question, Sorry if I did not explain the ecu that has been provided for me has eliminated the use of the O2 sensor it’s running a base map which has all the air fuel ratio sorted out so I do not have to use it
Hello sir so im doing a b16 swap on my 91 ef si hatch im using a obd1 distributor i have the 2 plugs from ebay so i dont have to touch the resistor box correct me if im wrong.im using all my obd0 harness. When it comes to the ecu i have a Pr3-j50 ecu with a spoon base map would that work? So my question is do i have to use a jump harness at all with the obd1 distributor? Or i can you plug and play ecu and distributor with existing harness
Since you’re trying to convert to obd1, youre going to need a jumper harness at the ecu and distributor. Do not eliminate the resistor box if you’re keeping the obd0 intake manifold and injectors. Otherwise it won’t work. You eliminate the resistor box when you’re using obd1 injectors. The ecu that you mentioned, I believe is obd0 so no you would not be able to use it with the obd1 conversion harness. My suggestion is by a chipped obd1 ecu off of eBay with a base map tune for a b16a just make sure you hook up the O2 sensor and knock sensor.
As far as converting it from obd0-obd1 no. I did have to replace it in general tho cause mine went bad. The 94-95 B16 del sol uses the same one. You cannot use the one from 99-00 b series.
I would highly recommend converting to obd1 and running and newer updated ecu’s . The p75 would work just fine. I have no regrets converting from obd0-obd1. You could even run a chipped and tuned obd1 ecu doesn’t exactly have to be the p75.
You’ll get improvements in all areas, nothing major powerband wise but your gas mileage will be more consistent. I had an idle issue and throttle issue and going obd1 completely changed it. Not to mention you’re opening the door to major tuning possibilities
@@Tycrx89 that’s the answer I’m looking for. Also have a slight idle issue and plugs running rich after installing sk2 manifold and sk2tb so definitely going obd1, then maybe chip a b20 map in it
I purchased this OBd1 ecu for my conversion from a company in California called chippingsolutions. Look them up they have products on eBay. This ecu would work for the B16 if you’re going to run an obd1 system In your ef, otherwise no.
If your using a chip ECU you can use a LS ECU from a obd1 Da or DC or P06 ECU From a nonvtec EH and concert it into Vtec and add a chip basemap basically your car will become a p28 or GSR ECU
Hi sir..... great vid.... but may I ask..... I'm changing my b16A obd0 to 0bd1..... and I don't understand the part where u need to put 2 extra wire from injector and 2 extra wire to distributor...... may I know where did u connect the wire from Ecu..... thank you sir
In America, the base model civic and CRX, known as the Dx or STD models, came with what’s called a DPFI (Dual Point Fuel Injection) setup on their engines. Specifically, it was the non sport model which only came with 2 injectors. On the si models, they came with the MPFI setup which ran 4 Injectors, 1 for each cylinder. I believe the chassis that you’re putting the engine into does not need to be converted because I do already believe it came with a MPFI setup from factory so you shouldn’t have a problem or need to run any extra wires. What I was speaking of was only intended for people who own a base mode Civic or crx that came with the DPFI setup which is what I meant by running the extra wires for the 2 other injectors and crank signals for them.
@@Tycrx89 my last one was totaled years ago . Rear ended and pushed into another car …. Ate some steering wheel. I drove it home afterwards. I never see them for sale and stock.
@@Tycrx89 so you did hook up the knock sensor and the two O2 sensor... Did you use the stock b16a stock headers ... Thanks for the reply I'm getting the items I need to do a b16a swap on my card si.
@@antoniosegura5329 correct once I ran the oem ecu I did hook up the the wires for the O2 sensor and the knock sensor and have had no issues at all. I’m running stock 90-93 integra headers. Unfort when I first got my b16a swap I sold my oem headers not realizing actually how crucial they are if you’re remaining obd0. Now that I’m running obd1 I have had zero issues I highly recommend going this route if you don’t have the stock components for the b16a obd0
