In this video I show my many attempts of trying to perform the cloning work that the OBDSTAR DC706 claims to say it can do. After many struggles, nothing worked and not even any help from the tools support team. At the time of posting video, I still haven't gotten a resolution.

there has been an update that might possibly be a fix for doing it but they force you to purchase an additional adapter and then connect to the circuit board which is no different than the other tools at that point

Sorry to hear about the issues you’re having with this tool. I’m curious what “security” their servers are doing and why? Just sucks they aren’t responsive but maybe they’ll see that they’re not looking too good if they watch these videos.

Even though the "security service mode" completed , reading or writing flash may need a higher voltage? I notice your reading attempts were with battery voltage below 13v...11.9v may not get it done .... Have you tried with a small & stable battery charger (2 amp - nothing major). The sweet spot on some ecu have been 12.8 to 13.5 for me. good luck !!

I did notice the supply voltage, but then again I have read other modules with this very same set up and voltage, I might give it a shot raising the voltage for this particular ecu as you mentioned.

It makes you wonder if its a software version in the ECU thats not compatible just yet. The 706 has the potential to be a very good tool but this scenario happens too often. Have you got a scope to view the CAN lines. Get in touch with Global Commerse. He might be able to help. He says he has direct contact with their support. Worth a try.

I did no scope it as there was no need to, the fact that the autel could communicate with it perfectly fine shows that it is in the toolings inability to perform the reads. I commented on his community post he made about the 706 being able to read sim2k-250 and I told him it does not work, he asked if it was purchased from him, and since it wasn't it he doesn't offer any support unless one pays for a fee. I myself did make contact with obdstar directly and have informed them of the issue and they replied few times stating they are working on a fix.

​@@DTEAuto @DTEAuto I just wondered if the CAN waveform was different/distorted on the 706 as opposed to the Autel. If OBDSTAR have got back to you saying they're working on a fix then they obviously know there is an issue. If I see one of these ECUs on eBay cheap enough I'll buy it to test with. Good luck if you get chance again with your ECU or you get another in 👍

@@timmehlittleloud2251 I actually noticed that yesterday, along with an update for a MB ecu I was trying to do with autel that it failed and bricked 2 donors. So I attempted the MB bosch ecu and it worked great, I then tried the sim2k again, but it wouldn't even connect to the ecu to try and read eeprom /flash. I will attempt today again and see what happens and also be on the lookout for the bosch ecu clone video. Thanks for the heads up too btw.

@@DTEAuto Don't you just love it 😜 I've got a Merc auto box module here that won't read with the IM608. Only 4 wires. Unless it's because I've not separated it from the valve block. My power supply can handle it though. Who knows 🤷

Hello. I want to know. I f i read a ecu with DC706 and make immo off or adblue off with another soft . It is possible to rewrite it in the ecu with the DC706?

if the 706 would actually read the flash and eeprom than yes you could do that, but it currently is unable to read the sim2k-250

Did they ever get it sorted? A friend was having all kinds of trouble cloning his BMW MSD81 with this machine, gave up and bought a FC200, which I thought might have been a mistake but I haven't talked to him since.

no they didn't, not at least this way that they proclaim to be possible. Meaning not bench mode through the connector only. There was an update that shows it reading via boot mode which involves opening up ecu and soldering, just like all the others that are able to do it, oh and you also have to purchase additional adapters to connect to the circuit board. And odd on the bmw dme issue, I was able to do a couple msd80 and 81 with it no issues.

HI I DO OPEN ECU AND BOOTING MODE WITH MP001 AND 80 OHMS RESISTOR AND 14.5 VOLTS SUPPLY FLASH AND EEPROM READ OK

The p004 has two resistors, and I see you had both on you think that could interfere by having both on just curious thanks.

Thanks ,I did see that there is another version of ECM that has can on different locations on the (GN4G:NU 2.0l GDI HEV )on pin 76 can high and 77 can low. Maybe they missed it.but who knows thanks again.

yes, as they were cloned by my friend with Kess and customer has been driving with no issues
