Hey buddy! Great demo! Have 2 SEMs. Pro + patch panel with polyend poly. + an OBERHEIM OBX-8.Need to use them… Prince’s fanatic here was thinking about building up a 4 voices( will need to fin 2 more SEM’s then…) or just keeping the pro , selling the patch panel and I will buy an emax keyboard + a mirage Ensoniq sampler. What do you think?!

Just got the Brainworx emulation of this synth for a crazy good deal, excited to play with it after seeing this vid - i hope it sounds close, i hear brainworx does great analog emulation.

I just tested this against my Arturia SEM V2 and it sounds surprisingly similar. Really cool :)

I remember these...I wanted one but could not afford one. Then the re-issue circa 2011 and you guessed it... could not afford it... Now i can afford one, but you guessed it... no longer made... grrrrr

AsteroidKillerMusic So Im loving the SEM but not using it that much. I had placed an order for a Two Voice Pro but my order was cancelled and Tom said he was ceasing production of all products. The store I ordered it from had an SEM Pro in stock and offered me a deal so I picked it up

Hello,I’m going to buy one,it was told me about working by midi that Sem Pro works if you actually patch a lead from the MIDI section to the CV inputs.This is how it was designed by Tom Oberheim,is that true?

if anyone could please help me, my SEM Pro came today and i’ve never had a synth with patch points and i kind of went crazy and used every output to go to different inputs with no logic behind it.. i know it was dumb... anyway i know the oscillators are more out of tune now for sure, but did i possibly damage anything else about the sound ?

Hey there i wanted to ask a bit of a technical question about the module if you please. When you turn the filter cutoff completly hard left does the filter completly close, it sounded as if it did'nt ??.

My only logical conclusions from watching demos of Oberheims are that they are either noisy AF or people leave their microphones on.

Nope, it’s noisy because it’s recorded thru a noisy mixers headphone socket straigth into the mic input on the camera ❤️

@@AsteroidKiller LOL ....probably a better idea, cause all I see on RU-vid is people randomly twisting knobs and making silly sounds. I was looking to see what music is made from it. One suggested listening to Silver Apples Of The Moon. I did, it sounded crap. Just a lot of weird noises. Its mind boggling to think they make expensive gadgets just to make weird noises.

Is it possible to get 6 of these guys and use my prophet 6 as a controller and have a 6 voice polyphonic SEM ? Will I have to use an additional piece to round robin the voices ?

pid cin I’m quite sure you need some midi inteface of some kind to split the signal to the different SEM modules.

AsteroidKillerMusic do you know if there are any drawbacks ? For example if I have such a device that splits the midi and rotates all the voices , how would it work in terms of expression and pitch controllers ?

@@synthdude7664 A 6 voice SEM chain would be off the hook. Check out the Endorphin.es Shuttle control or other euro Midi>CV modules then feed your prophet into that, patch up and have a blast!

pid cin it can be done I built a 4 voice but it requires some eurorack modules, a mixer etc... but its a lot of work making a patch though since you need to dial all 4 to the same settings.
