Kenobi ep 6 double length version with cut scenes, de-aging, cut music, and double length kenobi vader fight disney+ release early 2023, all stuff Kathleen Kennedy initially removed…
Hrm! Hadn't thought of him like that before, nice take. Very Macbeth: "I am in blood stepped in so far that should I wade no more, returning were as tedious as go o’er"
It sort of sounds like when he says "you didn't kill Anakin Skywalker" there's a bit of Palps in there. Maybe I'm mishearing, but would be a very nice yet subtle touch if so. Palatine was directly responsible for his turn.
I love how this fight single-handedly disproves the fan notion that "lightsaber styles don't mean anything" in duels. Obi-Wan switching to Form IV took Vader completely off-guard and won him the fight.
duelling is way more than just the lightsabres. they're using the force and all of their powers the entire time. no movie or series has ever really depicted this very well.
When he says "I am not your failure Obi wan" the light on his face his blue. It's like Anakin is accepting Obi Wan's apology and telling him that it's not his fault. And then it becomes red again when Vader returns. Brilliant creative choice there.
Also notice how different his face looks in those lights? When the blue is there, he has a more human look and less scarring, when red, he looks so much more monstrous. I don’t know if it’s just a lighting effect or if they used make up or cgi to change the face to reflect the personality half’s but it’s good.
the important part is to note that they are not two different people. vader and anakin are well and truly the same man which is what obi wan realizes properly now. you can say vader "returns" but he was always there. what i like about the show is that it dispels the notion that there are two personas in anakin's mind, and that somehow poor little anakin is locked away in vader's helmet somewhere.
It was implied. He's just standing there, after Obi-Wan has fallen into the pit, for several seconds. Not a word said. But that standing there looking down was him saying, "Now *I* have the high ground, Master."
@@virgilhodgesjr1524sure, but then few minutes later Kenobi just full on hurls all of the high ground nearby at Vader’s face. “THIS IS HOW YOU USE THE HIGH GROUND, BOY”
Yeah, because that point of view wasn't Obi-Wan's but Anakin/Vader's point of view. In a way, Anakin/Vader showed respect to Obi-Wan by wanting to make him free of the guilt so he could be at full strength when he defeats him, while Obi-Wan shows respect to Anakin/Vader by respecting his choice, stopping victimizing himself and instead respect that Anakin/Vader is a product of his own, that explains the phrase "then my friend is truly dead".
This scene that changes the dynamic of the story and presents Obi-Wan as a willing participant in Vader's subjugation, makes less sense than the "certain point of view" line.
I love how once Vader's suit is broken he almost immediately goes from a cold intimidating villain to a sympathetic broken man who's barely alive. Hit's harder knowing he's only in his early 30s at this point.
That makes me remember something: The switches controlling Vader's suit are located OUTSIDE on his chest. A* on design choice, Palps. Edit: I read all the replies, and I have no doubt that Palpatine designed the suit specifically to hinder Vader, in case of possible rebellion. I'm just pointing out that he made it so blatantly obvious, placing them fully exposed to, oh I don't know, blaster fire or lightsabers.
It reminds me of Bane in Dark Knight Rises when Batman breaks his mask in the last fight, which is funny cause Nolan’s version of Bane was inspired by Darth to begin with. Funny, rhymes like poetry.
@@darkspeinwarrior It was intentional. Palpatine FEARED Vader. That's why the control panel was on the outside of the suit. It's also why the suit was intentionally made weak to Force Lightning. The suit was designed so that Palp could dispose of Vader if he needed to, and in such a way that Anakin knew that fact, so he wouldn't turn against his Master and try to do what every Sith apprentice since the formation of the Rule of Two has done in the end. Succeed him.
The part of Anakin still alive saying "I am not your failure, Obi-Wan.", then Darth Vader coming in with the "You didn't kill Anakin Skywalker, I did." just hits so hard. He really just saw his best friend completely die
Also the lighting shift, up till that point Vader's face was lit blue from Obi-Wan's saber, but when he says he killed Anakin it went red from his own saber. It's the little details like that that makes this scene
They needed it. One of the biggest failings of Revenge of the Sith was that it left inconsistencies, such as Ben calling him Anakin on Mustafar and then Vader on the Death Star.
It was a masterclass in acting by Hayden, you see the last of Anakin Skywalker (the literal embodiment of the humanity of Vader) get snuffed out and the psychopathic, taunting grin of pure evil, as Vader asserts himself completely. Just heartbreaking.
There's levels to it. Vader egging obi wan as weak ties into that obi wan was too weak of a master to steer him in the right direction and prevent all of this. It also denotes that obi wan is too weak mentally to kill Anakin (and hes right) despite obi besting Vader in 2 out of their 3 duels. In a way, Vader is begging obi wan to "man up" and kill him for all of his deeds as he feels obi is the only person who can, yet obi wan proverbially always takes the "high ground" and spares him.
1:26 those kind of hand gestures re-gripping adding so much detail with so little movement is only something Hayden cares enough to do and I love him for it
I like how they had him go into that defensive stance showing that Vader knew it was gonna be a tough fight, plus those little gestures show he’s nervous about it too
No. I think it was more deeper than that. He was trying to tell Obi-Wan that he Anakin- himself- was already gone before they fought on Mustafar. He was basically saying he was already down the dark path before. Remember Obi-Wan didn't know he killed the Tuskens that killed his mother.
Personally I took it as a Vader telling that to himself, to re-iterate to himself that HE killed Padame, HE betrayed the Jedi, HE destroyed the good in his life and created the hell he lives in. I took it as Vader accepting what he did as a way to fully accept the Dark Side and his living hell; otherwise, if it was Obi Wan who failed him them Vader's current living hell would be almost impossible to bear. I gather this from the comics.
When he says "you didn't kill Anakin Skywalker, I did" I hear the tonality and vocal rhythm of Palps and it makes me think back to when Obi Wan said "You've allowed this dark lord to twist your mind until now, until now you've become the very thing you swore to destroy"
I love the double meaning of this line. It could be interpreted as Vader being arrogant and not wanting to be known as just Obi Wan's failure BUT it can also be interpreted as Anakin relieving Obi Wan of the guilt he feels about failing him.
This is minor but I love the way Vader fights in this. It's distinctly Ep II/III Anakin's style, with the grand movements and immense power behind every strike, but it's so much more restrained. All of Anakin's wasted movements and aggression are gone, and all that's left is (unlimited) power
It's not "restrained". The suit causes him limitations. He isn't as capable as he once was and compensates for that. You misunderstand the character if you believe he developed unlimited power once he became Darth Vader in the suit.
@@DEAXTHGIVESNOPXACE only in the flashbacks around the attack of the clones period here it was someone else. I think he was in the suit from time to time but just mainly when Vader was walking around.
I legit do the same lol. All the haters that somehow find fault in this show are the problem with the world. We got absolute trash upon trash with the modern sequels and then we get this and people can’t just enjoy it.
@@tommypeters9596 not that there is a problem with the world, the problem is that they keep making bad movies and tv shows. if you like this show, good for you. but just because people like it doesn't mean they have brain damage or something. (except me, I like force awakens lol)
Masterpiece… there is a cut every secound, its way to dark, there are just stones, it looks like a minecraft flat world and pls tell me why should obi wan let Darth vader live after he saw what Monster he become? Obi wans bigges goal is it to protect Luke an lea and who is the biggest danger for them? Right darth vader and sidius
the HC voice when his mask is broken is what spoke to me. "I am what remains." Changing from Anakin to DV is honestly on par or almost better than what happens in Ep3
Can we just take a moment to appreciate obi-wan? He suffered just as much as Anakin. Lost his master, his love, his brother and best friend, his republic, had to exile himself and yet he was NEVER tempted by the dark side
@@zaer-ezart at least he doesnt have to breathe with a damn mask his whole life, trapped in a suit thats holding his true potential, got brainwashed and gaslighted his whole life, only doing what other people wanted and never chose for himself.
not really as obi wan always had a strong connection to the force, he rediscovered it and he was a conduit for its bidding once again, he was litterally guided by the force.
Of all the Star Wars scenes that emotionally took me out, this scene is it. Obi-Wan and Anakin's relationship throughout the saga is heartbreaking because you are seeing a brotherhood collapsing. It's even more chilling that Vader/Anakin says that _he_ "killed Anakin Skywalker", thus destroying his own self worth, all while his Vader mask reveals his face through a broken crevice; a broken man who had a destiny lost. It's a truly tragic scene.
Hearing Anakin/Vader struggle to breathe after obi wan cut his helmet is just heartbreaking. This whole scene is heartbreaking. So glad Ewan and Hayden came back and gave us this moment
Great scene. Obi Wan could have finished him but when the mask broke, he just saw his friend and Jedi Brother as a broken man. He really took pity on him.
Yeah I get the feels too, but he’s a terrible person. I don’t care about this whole “I killed anakin” thing. No you’re anakin and you killed the younglings.
When you think about it logically. No matter what you do or decisions you make. You will always be you. He was always anakin and always will be. Regardless of when he was a sith and when he was a jedi. The name vader was just another way to be controlled by his sith master.
@@orionred2489 Yes but the point is that Vader truly wants to believe that he has destroyed Anakin. The fact that Anakin was never truly gone is a constant source of Vader’s pain and strength.
Anakin actually wasn’t fighting like that because he was angry. He was scared. Obi-Wan literally trained him, he is the only thing that really does scare him.
@@andromedadrexy694 Yeah, Yoda could still destroy Vader. His suit is so heavy he can’t spin too much or go too fast. Yoda uses really fast moves and acrobatics.
@@tayc9542lol let’s be honest bud Yoda and Sidious are better duelists… there’s no way they are losing to ObiWan TWICE but if Vader won on Mustafar then yes he’d be #1
Not only someone he knew since they were a child, but someone they considered their brother. In many ways watching him die would have been less painful.
This scene was very entertaining and emotionaI.The the only problem I have with it is why did Obi-Wan allow Vader to live? If he could have beaten Vader this whole time, why did he choose to wait another 10 years to make a barely trained Luke to face him? He accepted that Anakin was gone so why allow that monster to continue to slaughter innocents when he could have ended it here. Obviously Vader has to live for canonical reasons but story wise it makes no sense.
@@46sn29 well, people try to apply plain logics to this decisions. Why would he? The same reason people not always do what is right, at least in the greater picture. Even though Anakin died, Obi-Wan still couldn't bring himself to kill Vader. My guess is that it would end in another PTSD. So while he realized that Anakin might be gone, he saw the man behind the mask. He couldn't do it looking him in the eye, the same way he couldn't do it in Episode III, even after Anakin slaughtered younglings. About Luke, well. Obi-Wan believed from what I remember that Luke might be the chosen one instead. So, in the end, his decisions might seem illogical, but they worked out in the end.
@@46sn29 in both situations they were atacking Obi-Wan at the moment of their deaths. And yes, Vader was pretty much done, his armor was starting to malfunctioning and it was only a matter of time until he couldn't fight and Obi Wan noticed
Every single bit of this, every movement, every word is loaded to the brim with pain on both sides. It's devastating. Brothers, master and apprentice bonded by experience, friendship, and love, using the same moves theyve saved eachother with, to kill eachother. It's beautifully heart wrenching. The way they made Vader vulnerable, the way they brought the realism of is suit in, the voices entwined, the red and blue lighting, everything about this fight was double edged.
"You didn't kill Anakin Skywalker, I did." This line gives us a resolution to the (now)fact that Obi-Wan never lied to Luke about his father's death; stating: "He betrayed and murdered your father." Darth even took credit.
Obi-Wan always spoke in a turnabout way in Episode IV. But the thing about it, was that he was, in point of fact, never lying, but also, never answering. By doing both, he never told the truth, because from a certain point of view, he would be lying if he did tell the truth. The irony here as well, is that he also admitted that while Darth Vader had 'murdered' Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan made clear that Anakin never died either leading to Luke redeeming his father.
@@DarthVader-1701 Not a retcon, I don't think you know the meaning of the word. This directly plays into what Obi-Wan told Luke in Return of the Jedi. Vader despises Anakin, we know this. No changes are made here.
A small detail but I love that Vader is using both hands while gripping his lightsaber throughout the fight when for most opponents he only uses one. It just shows how serious he took Obi-Wan.
It also shits on the dickriders saying Vader is the strongest character ever and is simply unbeatable. This proves that obi wan was always the more powerful man.
The chemistry between Hayden and Ewan is still off the charts, even after all these years. I hope we get more of them on screen together. Clone Wars series, flashbacks, anything.
Obi Wan saying “goodbye darth” instead of “goodbye anakin” really hit home for obi wan you can tell his long fight to bring anakin back to the light was truly over
It’s also the exact thing he called Vader in a new hope. “You can’t win Darth. If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine” A really cool little bit of detail they’ve added in there!
As bad as the series was, the obiwan Darth Vader scenes were good. It made a good connection for the Darth Vader betrayed and murdered your father line from a new hope.
I mean it would have made sense if he put him out of misery at that point. I know Jedi aren't supposed to kill in cold blood, but surely a utalitarian argument can be made in this case wherein the self defence and defence of others can be used. considering the chaos he wreaked across the galaxy and the countless others he killed after and the fact that he was certain this would be the case given his choice of words to Darth Vader this makes sense. Hell, he should have killed him at Mustafar out of sheer human compassion (never mind the Jedi code, anyone else with an ounce of humanity would have opted for a clean mercy kill over what at that point seemed like a wholly miserable way to die.). Really, I feel like this was just a convoluted way to get back to where they left things in episode 3.
@@user-hk7hz9cn7v that’s not true man.. Mostly Vader was present, but if it was all of Vader’s rage and hatred then he would’ve continued to try and take out Kenobi. No talking. No conversation whatsoever. This was a guy begging for his friend back but also accepting that he has ruined that relationship all at once.
@@toididthat he couldn’t have taken out Obi-Wan at that point and he knows it. That’s why he didn’t chase after him, he knows that Obi-Wan doesn’t want to kill him, but is willing to and he doesn’t stand a chance in his injured state, not to mention he probably couldn’t breath with his damaged suit.
@@Boss2164 No, he simply knew that the way of the jedi was past and he had a duty to anakins offspring. That doesn't mean kenobi gave into the dark side. Perhaps during his fight with maul, but he was younger, here however, no.
He learned from Qui-Gon, who wasn’t quite the greatest adherent to the rules that the Council had ever seen. A Padawan with Obi-Wan’s skill utilizing such aggression - such as Anakin - may gradually be in danger of falling to the Dark Side, but for Obi-Wan, this fight completes his training in a way.
The fight between these 2 is what always gets me. It's different from any other saber fights due to the deep nature of their relationships. Each swing is very much with emotional aggression, you die or i die type. Love it.
I love the idea of Obi-Wan saying "I'm sorry Anakin, for everything", as if he understands why Anakin fell to the dark side and realises that he could have done things diffrently. Made me sooo teary-eyed.
he understands that while Anakin does hold alot of the responsibility for falling to the darkside he's not ENTIRELY to blame. Vader is literally the byproduct of the Clone wars and Darth Sidious but also THE JEDI THEMSELVES. he is the living proof that the Jedi way (of the old republic) DOES NOT WORK.
Hayden was born to play Anakin, i can't -, his voice, his face, his expression, the emotions, he stayed so true to his character... Him and Ewan returning was a blessing
@@lousyacrobat I think he had good skills but bad dialogues, also he said that it's Lucas who directed him how to act, everything, his personality, so I wouldn't put the blame on Hayden (he was great in the III for example) but it's just my opinion ☺️
Yes,I agree...Both actors were off the scale, the tears in Ewan’s eyes were Very Real, and I would say actors ,or Really Good actors draw on a Real painful moment in their lives to get that effect, which is often used in method acting, for an actor to Recall mentally a Real incident in their lives,Not that Ewan is a method actor, but he is extremely skilled at what he does..
My wife and I Are big star wars fans and when Obi wan slashed his helmet our jaws dropped and I practically fell to the floor. The scene put us both in tears.
this scene really captures all the intensity and emotion of the rivalry, including the deadly power of rage and the terrible sadness of broken friendships turned to rivalries
especially the choice of the word “remains” he’s not half of what he could’ve been had he not been destroyed by obi wan physically. he is only a cracked shell held together by the suit
God it fucks me up SO BAD to see both faces and hear both voices at once. I find it hard to see Vader as Anakin, like ever, but this series has really cemented the two together, and also separated them in a way that I never couldn’t have imagined.
Can we all admit this was beautifully done. The emotions from the lightsabers when obi wan is tryna talk to anakin and thru out you see its turning more red then the blue flicks we was seeing . Then the hatred from anakin accepting that this is he's path to be Darth Vader and you see hes eyes change . I wish we actually got this in the newer ones .
When Obi Wan apologizes and cries, that killed me. A hopeful little kid who later became a close friend and brother in arms turned into a vengeful heartless monster. This fight is excellent, a perfect balance between the fast fights of the prequels and the emotion of the OT.
i love how hayden INSISTED BEING IN THE SUIT. People use to call him a bad actor, but those people never acted a day in their life. Hayden researched from the clone wars animated series to keep up with anakin. Thats a damn good actor and artist in my opinion.
Don't have to be an actor to recognize a bad one. That's a daft way to look at giving an opinion on someone's craft. But yeah, this was legendary. We'll be able to enjoy it for the next few years for sure.
Sorry, how again is dressing in a suit, and watching previous material equal to being a good actor? I think he’s decent, but you will find most fans of all said material, incapable of “good acting”, regardless of suit or not.
@@twd949 Being able to project emotion and character through the suit, through the _helmet_ is what proves it. Karl Urban was praised for Dredd on this account, why shouldn't Hayden get his due? You're holding his past as a young and barely fledged actor with mediocre scripting against him. Lucas is amazing at many things, but writing tender romance simply ain't one of them.
Hayden Christensen nailed it. His delivery of "I did" is the best line of the series imo. With only a quarter of his face showing and a hand full of lines he was able to help knock the scene out of the park.
I think your comment was designed for deaf people and you still failed to deliver a complete punchline. Something to think about before you continue to litter the internet with another text wall of obvious nonsense.
I love the line, under the blue light of Anakin saying "I am not your failure Obi-Wan." it is the last word Darth Vader allows himself, his old self that is, to say to his old master.
Pure? I don't think that's so. It's the same ol' Anakin from the beginning... a brief moment of nobil good will, turned, ruined by pride. Anakin was the Phantom Menace from the beginning. He was always becoming the evil machine, tyrant/pawn. The development of Vader was a slow, lifetime process that fell together all at once into death.
@@SilvaEagle1998 There were multiple menaces. There were subtextual layers. Too much to describe here, unless you and others would like to hear. In short, the end credits sum it up, closing with little Anakin... breathing as little Vader. It's all a phantom mask. A foreshadow. Symbolism. Vader has the ultimate mask. Vader is a puppet master, and seems like the ultimate puppet; a robot-marionette. Palpatine can palpate the process of the prophecy and seems like the ultimate puppet master, and is the ultimate puppet of the force, which must have balance. There are menaces everywhere. Maul is the obvious foil, Binks can actually be said to be it, Sidious is insidiously so, but the whole story is about Vader and the Skywalker royal family. It's the story about Vader's becoming, repentance, and redemption. It's Greco Roman mythology, Christianity, Shakespeare, et al. Gotta hand it to Lucas. A masterful story teller.
When Vader is against anyone else, he’s this powerful Sith Lord no one can beat. When he’s against Obi wan we see him as a young man still trying to prove himself. His fighting style against Obi wan shows that. Pure aggression, no thinking.
Obi-Wan literally the one opponent he could never truly defeat and when he did he either faced him when he was at his weakest or getting older but even in their final showdown (A New Hope) Obi-Wan still manages to best him cause Vader didn't feel the satisfaction of seeing his body and cause he simply disappeared out of nowhere after death
Bullshit, Vader fought as well as he could but at this point Obi Wan's powers as a Jedi Master were still higher than Vader's. Though for some reason in this bullshit series, Obi Wan conveniently forgot to be a master for all episodes except the last two. I hate this Disney nonsensical idea that a Jedi Master like Obi Wan or Luke Skywalker can conveniently forget to be Jedis and lose all their powers. It just doesn't make sense.
He’s probably referring to learning how to use his new body. He had to change his fight style and force wielding due to the constraints of his mechanical body
I don't quite think that's the thought process behind that line. I understood it as Anakin saying he wasn't just "ObiWan's failed apprentice" he succeeded in his eyes despite what Obi-Wan thinks of him.
Same. Its how i saw his line to ahsoka "then you will die" It was both of them saying it, anakin is telling her to "run or vader will kill you" and vader was sayin "im gunna destroy you"
They way he says “you didn’t kill Anakin Skywalker. I did” still sends a chill down my spine. One of the most emotional, powerful scenes in the whole franchise
Its cause Vader became his coping mechanism. That was actually Anakin coming back temporarily to tell Obi Wan that. That he accepted what he did and how he lost his family was his fault and no one elses. But then switches back to Vader before becoming emotional with Obi Wan and goes back to full rage and evil. His friends got close over the years to get him to kick out Vader, but only Luke his actual family was the one that could do it. His family's death was the reason he made Vader after all.
They are literally copying Rebels. This show is just a copy paste festival from Disney trying to drain every penny from Star Wars they can with feminist racial justice crap. And you are eating it up.
Bruh, those last 2 minutes of dialogue was felt to the core. Say whatcha want about Hayden, but he delivered it. “Anakin is gone. I am what remains.” *chills*
"You didn't kill Anakin Skywalker. I did." The look in his eyes, the light in the scene fading from blue to red, the look in his eyes saying it. This is easily in my top 5 Star Wars moments, and makes up for all the problems I had with the show.
I think Hayden already redeemed himself on Episode 3 , he really tackled the agony and pain from Anakin and lead to a amazing performance, and even just finale scene and the training flashback, he nailed it again
No matter how much time passes or what writing they’re given, good or bad, Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen will always have that special kind of chemistry that makes me emotional when they come together.
They had chemistry in The Clone Wars show. In the prequel trilogy alone with no supporting materials, their relationship is just servicable at best and at worst it was obi wan constantly trying to console a whiny adult
Man what a scene... i could go on for days about how good the lightsaber and force combat is, but really, the scene after... Obi-Wan and Darth speaking and everything that goes with it... incredible. The myriad of emotions and the way the light plays across their faces as they talk is incredible and inspired. Especially when you see the realization that Obi-Wan has when he realizes he cant get thro to Anakin, just amazing. You can see how much he is crushed by the guilt of what happened between them and how Anakin, either as a last gift or from a place of pride, tries to alleviate that guilt by saying Darth Vader is the reason this all happened and all that now remains. Obi-Wan's face... you can see him seeing the depth of that realization and that theres truly nothing he can do to help his brother. Its an incredible scene and im so glad we have it.
You can decipher it by the lighting of the lightsaber. When Obi-Wan sliced Darth Vader’s helmet, it was red and blue; indicating who Obi-Wan sees (Anakin) but it was Vader. When Obi-Wan began to apologize to Anakin (bc that’s who he sees), the lighting is more blue than red, signifying that the person responding to Obi-Wan was indeed Anakin. After that, the man in the suit is more red than blue, revealing who he became, who killed Anakin…Darth Vader. Then when Obi-Wan leaves, We see a moment where there was no red nor blue; this I think means that at that instance there was a moment that whatever was left of Anakin has faded, which finally transitions to engulfing red as Obi-WAN leaves him after being said that Anakin is truly dead and addresses him as Darth Vader. And thus he became fully Darth Vader. P.S this is my take from this scene, idk if it’s accurate 🤷♀️ or digging too much
Absolutely love how Hayden and Ewan haven't lost their fight choreography probably the best lightsaber combat I've seen in the Disney live action scene in a while.
In the case of storyboarding and storytelling, it holds up. But in execution, they both feel terribly out of practice XD. The're slow, their spins look clumsy and a lot of the decisions(Aka pummeling Vader with rocks only to have them do absolutely nothing) feels like they were done for empty spectacle. They both acted their asses off and did amazing on the story beats but the actual fight felt lackluster, especially compared to the OT and Sequel trilogy. Still leagues better then the new trilogy due to the emotional weight though.
Easily one of the most menacing Vader lines. “You didn’t kill Anakin Skywalker, I did.” It definitely shows how consuming and powerful the dark side is.
@@TheGek03 Definitely in full agreement! The fact that obi wan could have killed him twice is crazy. And no one will ever know how truly great obi wan was. The man who defeated Anakin and Vader.
I don't think Obi Wan wanted any recognition for his amazing feats. He just wanted Luke and Leia to be safe. And in his final moment he saw them seconds away from safety.
He defeated him not on skills or the use of the force ( disney sucks and it's all filler ) but since anakin was always a power house with the emotional strengh of a teenager he would always colapse in front of his best friend/ brother
I think the most heart wrenching thing for me is the line from Kenobi “I’m sorry Anakin, for all of it.” Because Obi Wan isn’t just apologizing for Mustafar, for Padme, and his suffering inside the suit. He’s apologizing for, as he says, EVERYTHING. Every little thing, every wrong done to Anakin by the republic, the council, and obi wan himself that lead up to this moment. Obi wan knows exactly what lead to Anakin’s fall to the dark side, he’s had plenty of time to think about it.. and he’s apologizing for it all, but Anakin is gone. Vader is what remains.
@@TomAS-wm5mn that's one of the things I like most about this and I feel like it reinforces the poignancy of Vaders redemption in Return of the Jedi. Vader knew, and freely acknowledged he and he alone bore the blame for the horrors he inflicted. He was not forced into it, he chose it. Out of desperation and fear perhaps, but none the less: He CHOSE it. His evil came from within, as did his eventual turning away from it when he chose to save his sons life at the cost of his own.
Such a shame to think Anakin could’ve turned the tides for good to finally win once and for all instead he basically single-handedly destroy most of the light the Jedi the temple scene is beyond sad.
@@ShadowFhoenix in a way in my own opinion anakin falling was a way to remove the complacency and purify the rot that was slowly creeping into the "light" side of the force, something that was VERY evident if someone like Sideous could hide in plain sight even though there were thousands of jedi and a whole council of the best of them, and it all being a somewhat deserved downfall that has been the pattern of every ripple and wave of the tides of the Force, this was echoed in the KOTOR era, then again in the TOR era, so it is in the High Republic, the agents of the light and dark side clash, the light side triumphs then starts to grow complacent whereas the dark side would stab when the light is most corpulent and corrupt, the agents of light get steamrolled, and the brightest of the light survives to emergently vanquish the remaining dark, as someone who prescribes to the idea that the "Force" is neither good nor evil, but a force that ultimately wants balance yet moves through chaos, and feeds on both sides of the spectrum.
"Goodbye Darth", Obi wan knew that what Yoda said was true , he was hoping that there was still good in him when padme said that , but Yoda said 'The boy , you trained, gone he is....' , he felt those words piercing his heart at that moment "My friend is truly dead"

“Anakin is gone. I am all what remains.” There is literally everyting in this sentence. The way he says, with that voice... The old good days, the past, the pain, the anger and the dissapointment. Christensen and McGregor did such an amazing job here for sure. This scene at the end, when Kenobi cries and apologizes was just out of this world. This 9 minutes worth more than the whole new trilogy (with Rey). Damn boi... Thanks for this.
This also shows that both Christensen and McGregor are both good actors and that the awkarness from the movie was not from the actors skills. Ewan had a lot more movies to show this, while the Christensen had more limited roles, mostly because of the prequels
