Star Wars Obi-Wan (2001) for the original Xbox, isn't backwards compatible or available digitally anywhere. Which sends one of our producers on a desperate quest to find a working Xbox and play the game, while TBH does his best to keep things on track. Nostalgia is fun, but also scary, it turns out.

I'm not sure if it's considered "hard to find" but Jade Empire (also on the original Xbox iirc) feels like a more obscure gem that really scratched that KOTOR itch for me as a kid.

This is why we need more game preservation, and I mean GOOD preservation, not half-assed subscription services like Nintendo Switch Online and it's overpriced expansion pass. And on the shelves, isn't that the same Xbox Morgan Webb dropped out a window to see if it would survive?

Something ridiculous like 80% of films made during the first 100 years after the invention of the film camera are gone. They just don't exist anymore. It's heartbreaking to realize that exact same fate is already happening to video games.

I liked the Obi-Wan game because it was unique. I preferred the Episode 3 game, but I felt the Jedi Outcast and it’s sequels were better overall

I recently brought my OG console back to life..& tonight have just completed Obi-Wan for the original Xbox for the first time in 20 years after staring at that nostalgic case for decades. Not without its flaws, but I’ve been waiting to replay this one..Perfecting use of the slo mo feature with a lightsaber is off the charts fun, bringing back memories & also creates new ones..& the game pairs well with a little Phantom Menace between levels if you’re a fan of that era, like me. Great time to playing this game, again..Great time to be an Obi-Wan fan..& ordering a replacement laser eye was one of the greatest purchases I’ve ever made..next to Obi-Wan for Xbox that is😏 5..out of 5 ..just for the patience of the journey to play again.

I still have my copy of the game. I used to play with the slow motion cheats all the time. It was a blast to do the Free for All mode against all the other Jedi.

The versus mode was the best part of the game, it was the only way you could play as the obscure Jedi that didn't get airtime during the trilogy.

I think Roms could be a part of preservation, but I’d like to see some official preservations like digital only downloads or more backwards compatibility. I know I have a lot of original Xbox and PS2 games that are not sold in stores anymore or can’t play on the Series X. It would be nice to be able to be able to play those games without pulling out my PS2 or OG Xbox.

I wouldn't mind seeing a new interpretation of Nightmare Creatures. That, Dino Crisis, Clock Tower, and Turok share a special place in my heart nostalgia wise. At least Resident Evil is still going on.

Literally never seen anyone else mention Nightmare Creatures. I bought the, likely inferior, n64 version when my local rental store was going out on a whim and while I never got super far it was fun enough.

What really sucks is the og xbox is notorious for bad disc drives. so even if you have an original copy of obi-wan and an original xbox ( I have both but my xbox crapped out on me at the beginning of the year, 3rd one that's done that btw) you're only gonna get a couple of years before it stops working. Microsoft knew this problem existed yet refused to make the 360 fully backwards compatible to make up for it. Every single system I've ever owned still works (excluding a few cables and accessories that needing swapping out here and there) but the og xbox is not part of that club, which is a shame because it's such a fun system.

They may feel clunky by today's standard's, but 'Obi-Wan' and the Episode 1 game really were ahead of their time. They were pioneering the hack n' slash / Force power combat we've all come to know and love.

I loved this game once I picked it up almost 15 years ago. The level that killed the experience for me was the one where you had to protect the queen from droids but her having only one hit point, it was frustrating like hell. Was finally able to do it after like 50 tries. Lol.

I feel this way about Armed & Dangerous that was also on Xbox. It is available as backwards compatible, but since I'm the only one who ever remembers it I feel like Zipper did, in the feels about it.

The soundtrack and humor still hit hard and warrants a play for me. The game has so much personality. Sadly another IP gathering dust inside the Konami Vault. That Impact Theme is Godlike 🤖

@@ericseitzler81 I was gonna mention Path of Neo along with the Obi Wan game. Both games I know now aren’t all that great but just cool things to go back to. Path of Neo was an acid trip lol, it’s fun just to see all the batshit crazy ideas they went with in that game. Much like this one, lots of cool mechanic ideas but maybe not fleshed out all that great. Jedi Knight got it all right though

@Xplay I still have the original game sitting on my shelf in pristine condition. Also wanted to let you know that after all these years this game is fully playable on the Xbox emulator. So I play this on my PC time from time. But I wish Aspyr would remaster this for Nintendo Switch & Playstation like they have done with the other SW games.
