I noticed a new papaya today right at the foot of a mature Poinciana which stands tall but has lost all minor branches. The tree wouldn't have stood a chance in the shade of that tree but will probably succeed after the disturbance. Many neighbors have benefitted for acres all around with the Cherry tomatoes spread out everywhere.
