People use OCD as freely as using anxiety. It's caused problems for people that truly have these disorders to the point that the medications they need are no longer available to them because if over prescription. They've never tried therapy or anything first. They've never been diagnosed by a professionals.

I think there is a big difference between someone saying they are experiencing or experienced anxiety vs. Claiming to have a anxiety disorder. People can self recognize the feeling of anxiety just like any other feeling. Also, while some might not actually have an anxiety disorder I think it's worse to invalidate someone when we don't know their internal life or personal life. Maybe the are doing it for attention but also have an anxiety disorder. I'd rather be safe and not invalidate them than sorry. It can be frustrating and invalidating if someone doesn't have it and is using it for attention but if they are, they obviously are struggling with something. For me, I've had bad GAD my entire life and my friends would never know. I'm very social and have no social anxiety.

My husband has OCD. I regularly followed you guys then coincidentally I click on the "intrusive thoughts " video and realized that is exactly my husband! No diagnosis yet but there's no way he doesn't have it. It encapsulates our relationships with how we fight. He constantly asks for reassurance and obsessed over various things. Thanks SO MUCH! My husband watches these with me

not related to the other person talking about shrooms but delta 8 is federally legal (check your state's laws) it is helping me with OCD currently. i am starting to be able to leave the house again sometimes. if he has adhd what works for me is to watch videos with fast psced content, i watch Saberspark because he writes videos in a format i understand. seriously that one youtuber saved my life. intrusive thoughts can sometimes get blocked just to the slightest point where you can fight them if you are absorbing other information.

My experience with ocd started with my brother, we used to share a bedroom in the 70s when we were kids, every night he would shut thr door then move handle up and down for a set number of times, when he walked to school he would feel the need to genuflect then makeout he was doing his shoelaces. My mother got so concerned she took him to a psychologist but it never helped. He still has osd, to the piont where he can't drive on motorways because if he does he has to count the white lines in the road. From what i can gather its all to do with the fear of something bad will happen if you don't do the ocd, so in doing these illogical thing prevents bad things happening to yourself and your loved ones.

I've had OCD since I was a kid. I'll have to agree with Lele on this one, I also find it a bit irritating when people just use the oh "I'm so OCD about this" because it minimizes the actual disorder. I do realize that a lot of people do use that sentence, it's just really frustrating for me to hear it when in my head I'm telling myself like You have no idea how bad this disorder can get. Sending light and love 😀😀😀😀

I’m 25 and I started showing signs of OCD when I was 14. However, my very first memory of acting OCD is when I was 7/8 and the man serving my food coughed and I told my mother who insisted that he refund our money as it’s a “health hazard” OCD has made certain points of my life extremely uncomfortable and difficult but I’m looking forward to finally starting counselling. OCD is not a joke and if you’re struggling please seek help, you’re not alone and OCD doesn’t define who you are or who you are destined to be. ❤️

I currently have been without medication for several months because I thought foolishly that I could do life without it. I cannot. I am 48 and my ocd is at an all time high. I did muster up the courage to make a Drs appointment whidh is a huge accomplishment for me because my anxiety with intrusive thoughts has made it so hard to even make phone calls and make everyday decisions. This disorder is debilitating and in has effected all every aspect of my life. But I do haave hope and with setting goals and making small steps forward, I believe I can overcome it. I will always struggle because life is a strugglle but I dont have to let it define me. I really enjoyed listening to this girl speak. She really said some things that hit home. Thank you pretty lady!

During awful OCD days I cannot stop checking locked doors at night and checking on my daughter every 15 minutes. If I dont go check I get this overwhelming sensation deep in my chest and I am convinced my daughter will die or I will lose her forever if I dont keep checking until the sun comes up. It usually last many night in a row. I love cooking from scratch but it takes me twices as long to make a simple meal I have to chop dice slice and mince everything exactly the same or I have a panic attak I cannot have anyone help me. Meltdowns happen and I end up extremely embarrassed.

I am so sorry. My daughter suffered terribly with severe OCD. She was diagnosed at 15 and received intensive Exposure Response Therapy. It was and has been a game-changer. At 24, she now runs her own successful business. I never thought she could live on her own, let alone accomplish that. The OCD is still a factor, but she has the tools to be in control and deal with it. No medication either.

I don't have OCD, but lately my therapist has suggested that it could be part of my diagnosis. I have severe ADHD with a looot of impulsivity, I suffer because I cannot initate tasks and it has given me a ton of anxiety. In parallel I have this urge to clean sometimes and I cannot stop until I feel that it is finally ok and I don't know if I actually have cleaning rituals related to OCD or if it's normal. Noone that I know lives the way I do, like having everything clean. My life is a mess, I'm very disorganized and I'm constantly cleaning and organizing and I cannot not do it. I don't know if that is normal, I don't have other OCD traits, maybe that I cannot stand certain textures

I didn't get my diagnose until I was an adult, but when I was young I was late for school every morning (even those years when I literally lived next door to the school) because I had to control that everything was shut off and locked many times before I could leave the apartment. It was pure torture and also felt embarrassing. I have made some improvements through the years, so nowadays it's a little bit better. I still have my OCD thoughts and rituals, but I've learned to cope with some of them at least.

From my understanding based on the articles that have read, ocd is so different from person to person that has it. The way that her symptoms are expressed by having ocd, does not mean that some else that has this disorder will experience it the same way.

I know some persons who have been diagnosticed from TDAH having OCD, and sometimes the difficulty to attend is because the distraction from the intrusive thought of the OCD, not for having TDAH. Courage to all people who suffer OCD and other mental’s condition; I’m fighting with OCD, and is so difficult. Remenber that treatment with scientific evidence for OCD is EPR, ACT, cognitive restructuring and a strong psico-education from the disorder. We will get out of this

Actually, researchers have been able to pinpoint the specific brain areas and processes linked to the repetitive behaviors common to OCD sufferers. Brain scans of OCD sufferers were compared with people who do not have OCD. There were marked differences. OCD is a medical problem, not some deep dark issue of behavior or past traumas.

Ya people need to let go of validation on social media and just from anyone in life. Everyone is so different, what works for one person doesn’t for the next. Going to talk with someone is so healing and therapeutic, I recommend all people to go. I’ve chased that whole entertainment business and it’s all so overrated and no one should sell their soup for Rich and fame. We are all important and all enough, we all need to take back our power and control and know our worth and value. At the end of the day as long as you did the best you know you could that’s all that matters.

@joep841

I hope more people learn the fact that OCD is much more severe than the stereotypical 'cleaning and organizing.' It's a constant, lifelong bombardment of obsessive thoughts leading to detrimental compulsions over and over again. As soon as you get past one thing, it evolves to another. In example for me, I went from the obsession of going to die of a deadly disease, with obvious compulsions being handwashing, etc. After overcoming that one, it manifested into my failed relationship. Someone with severe OCD is constantly having intrusive thoughs of their current obsession, and the compulsions can be especially dangerous when relationships are involved because it leads to things such as eating disorders and extreme depression. Severe OCD is a living hell, and I hope more people can raise awareness to the disease.

Here's a "good" one: When I'm driving and I see something in the distance, since I can't physically touch it I have to "touch" it by moving my head so something in my car blocks the view of the object. If I don't check myself it's almost a near-constant thing, usually on longer drives. Oh and then sometimes I have to block the object from both directions, so someone watching me would see my head rocking slightly back and forth.. lol *sigh* Then before I get out I touch probably 1-2 dozen various little things: (never the floor on purpose or I'm washing my hands) in the console, speedometer, oil sticker, clock, rear-view mirror and the back holding it to the windshield if I'm feeling froggy, bottom of the cupholders, bottom of door handle, side cupholder, vents, change the volume from (example) 10 to 9 to 11 to 10, flick the window buttons so each window opens slightly before closing, open the door, lock it twice, touch side of seat on the way out, head rest and braces, seat belt, close the door, touch the window, then rear-view.. OMG STOP IT ALREADY That's every time I drive, and in almost the same order every time.

I was diagnosed with OCD a couple of years ago (pure OCD) because I don't have any outward signs (I have thoughts that I was ashamed of having) I felt when I was diagnosed that I couldn't tell anyone as most people assume if you have OCD you are obsessively tidy and have an absolutely sterile house. I don't! I wish there was more understanding about it, especially pure OCD. I have been to therapists many times for depression and anxiety, but was too ashamed to say the "bad thoughts" I had. I wished I had said something earlier as I wouldn't have had to live for years blaming myself for something I can't control. When I eventually told a psychologist about my "bad thoughts" he told me you can't control your thoughts. For example someone says "don't think of a polar bear. " You immediately think of a polar bear.

@A do you? Or are you one of the psycho’s minions that likes to frame people because ganging up on rape & abuse victims for a decade makes you feel like a “man”

It’s not her fault BUT BUT BUT, a poor kid in a dangerous neighborhood, in a mother country even, doesn’t have the luxury of having OCD. Maybe it manifests in other ways but that’s just the truth. For example, I have had to go to the hospital 2x for injuries while running/escaping roaches. I love with a can of Raid in every room of my home so that it’s within reach… But even I know that if I grew up on a dirt floor with a rolled mat to sleep on, in a shack with poor sanitation, I would probably be used to roaches or at least bugs… idk. It’s just a thing and I don’t like her “victim” mentality. Don’t do that “poor me” voice and eyebrow pulled together thing. She is free to vent and so as she pleases, but I have a hard time when someone cannot express themselves without buying for sympathy. Especially if it’s not say, cancer or the like. Just me. I know.

what a deeply unkind point of view. i grew up poor, and deal with debilitating ocd (which living in a roach infested house made *worse*). multiple members of my family grew up well below the poverty line in a 3rd world country and still dealt with mental illness. going through hard times doesnt preclude you from mental illness, it just makes it harder. anybody can be mentally ill, and everybody who is mentally ill deserves support. and for the love of god, stop calling ocd a "luxury". it's a disease that absolutely destroys people and doesnt stop until they're a shell of themselves. trust me. i know.

There are definitely poor people who have OCD and struggle with mental health. You’re proudly projecting your fantasies onto the world, and it’s shameful and ridiculous. Perhaps seek help instead of living in that fantasy world.

Grandma was born and raised and lived in El Salvador, not rich and very poor, struggled with severe ocd. What you say is just beyond ignorant. I am not rich either and grew up poor also struggle with ocd.

You know I badly want to disrespect you. But I don't because I choose to be kind, so I hope you'll do the same even if you really hate someone, be considerate. Mental health is not a joke
