They’d find legitimate underground artists (which travis was) and promote them, and after they would usually get rather large from just the XXL exposure. Now you have to have had a “mainstream” song to even get considered for XXL, but in its glory days you didnt need to be a large artist to get recruited, you just had to be persistent and have talent, and anyone in the Houston area will tell you no one was more committed to getting exposure than travis.
