From someone that makes videos this is well put together. I figured it was done by a professional when I saw the Lav. Nice framing shots & your wife did great narrating it. We are going in May.
I think this is one the best video I have watched ever. Your wife did such a great job at narrating this video , it reminded so much of when sir David Frederick Attenborough did it for Planet earth.. Thank you for sharing this!!! We will be visiting this resort in a few weeks. Much love from the USA
Thank you so much for your kind words. My partner Diana has been a radio presenter for 30 years and I have been a freelance video cameraman for the same time. We really enjoyed our time in Mexico and we are so glad you enjoyed watching our little video. We did a similar one on Kings Island in Egypt a few years earlier. If you see it we hope you liked it too. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WuJ2LD_xuGs.html&
You will have a fabulous time, David. We also went on a snorkling trip to see dolphins and turtles on the reef, brilliant. I didn't take my camera as it's not waterproof. This turned out to be the right decision! I would love to see more of Mexico.Thank you for your comment.
This is a great review of this property. My wife and I will be returning in April 2019. We have ventured out and tried other resorts in Mexico, but are drawn back to OMR. Great stay and the staff are beyond!
Jeffrey White - Yes we loved it here too! I think because it was adult only helps. Not because I have anything against kids but it is much more relaxing without their stress. We've had our parenting days, now it's time to chill. 😃
Very nice video We have been to this resort several times and love it I think you were in the same room we were in with the deer in that area The view looks exactly like my pictures
Very professional and informative. We’re going there in a week’s time. A last minute change of destination as our cruise on the Grand Princess was cancelled by Princess as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak. We’re really looking forward to experiencing Mexico. Thank you for whetting our appetite!
Hi and thank you for your kind words. It was a labour of love! That would be a great job travelling round reviewing hotels for free board. Where do I sign? ☀️️😎
Excellent review. We just returned from here yesterday and miss it already. It is a wonderful resort. The one thing you under-emphasized in your review though was how incredible the staff was. I've never been to a resort before with such amazing staff. Would love to go back again. I love how you captured the wildlife that was so plentiful.
Thank you Chris. Yes I was a little depressed last year coming home to the depths of winter after having two glorious weeks of all inclusive food and drink. By the way how are the beaches looking with the seaweed? I had an earlier comment that asked about it, so I would be interested to know. And yes all the staff were very friendly. Would love to go back there again one day. Thanks again for your comment. Much appreciated. 👍
Tim Hollingworth The sea weed was still too plentiful for me to consider getting in the water but others were braver than I. The beach itself was clear. They do an excellent job of keeping it clear but the water still had some in it so no swimming for me. I liked that the beach area by the boardwalk was so clean that you had the advantage of sunning in the sand but were only steps away from the pool for a refreshing dip in cleaner water. To me the sea weed was a non issue and the lagoon provided an opportunity for a non-pool swim.
Hi Chris thanks for the update. Yes that lagoon area was lovely and crystal clear. We also enjoyed the senote swimming but not tried an underground one. Pity about the seaweed. But that is nature. Thanks for your reply.
Ahhh, brings back memories of our 20th anniversary stay in October of 2016. Great job!! I just clicked the red button above and 👍. I will look for more of your videos. I will be backpacking and v-logging the Appalachian Trail in February, but we might spend a week here in January before I go. Kamper 2020
Thanks for your kind words. You may be interested in one of our earlier trips to Egypt. I apologise for the auto gain sound as I was using an £80 camera off eBay. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WuJ2LD_xuGs.html
Such a wonderful guide, an amazing review, thorough & enjoyable. Your wife's voice is very soothing too!! Good trait for a TV Presenter! I am looking at getting to this hotel the minute it's safe to do so ! We all need some luxury in our lives right now! Well done. Keep up the reviews!
I love your incredible videos! It is actually motivating. We were in recent weeks in Tulum, and it was actually staggering, I just completed some drone video of my traveling there!
Thanks Nick, would love to see your drone footage of Tulum. We had a fabulous time there exactly 12 months ago. Happy memories. Please put a link here if you upload to RU-vid. Thanks
Yes the excursions were extra. And I would highly recommend them. There was one we went on that didn't get filmed as we were on a boat trip to see dolphins and snorkel with turtles. I think Diana liked that the most. Enjoy your holiday.
Thanks Tim! Quick question about the beach itself. It looks roped off mostly is there an area where guests can just walk straight into the ocean? And do you remember if there was beverage service on the beach?
There was no beverage station actually on the beach when we were there. And the beach was not roped off. You could walk for ages on the beach when turning right from the resort. Turning left was mostly the same but we only went as far as the fast flowing inlet. This portion may have been part of some other hotel but it was a good long walk along the beach. Hope that helps. You will enjoy the beach experience as we did.
I appreciate your review because I will be visiting in July! The only thing that bothered me slightly was the use of ‘peasant’ as it by in large regards indigenous Mexican peoples in that category in a negative & derogatory term, as I am an Indigenous woman from Canada. Nonetheless, thank you for your review & your insights 🙂
Hi we were there for 2 lovely weeks. Went out on 31 Jan and returned 14 Feb. January is the coldest and driest month at 23°C and it's around 30°C in Feb.September being the wettest. The first week we had white beaches and blue sea to swim in. I don't know about the rest of the year as it would be very hot and more chance of rain. It all depends on what you like. I do recommend this adult only hotel. We had an all inclusive great time. Enjoy 😊
Tim Hollingworth hello again Tim. I’ve been reading some reviews of this resort that you can’t flush toilet paper down the toilet in the rooms. Is this true?
Yes I believe that was the case, we were encouraged not to, same as in many other countries. It's a bit weird but we soon got used to it and didn't bother us. Hope you have a lovely time there, we certainly did.
I’ve been there before. I’m also going in July. It was the best resort I’ve ever been to! When I went I didn’t need too much spray. Just the norm, sitting out on a hot night! I also flushed my tp, and I never had a problem. But that’s just my experience!
dear Tim and mrs, your video is great, shows everything about the hotel, i dont have a honeymoon destination yet, ocean maya royale is definetly an option, im just concerned about the beach, the video shows a very mixed water i dont see any turquoise beach at the hotel, would you be so kind sharing your experience with the beach? is it because of the seaweed?
Hi Cecilia that's a very good question. Our first week there from 31st January 2018 we had perfect beaches. The second week it just arrived. We had no Idea about the seaweed, but it didn't spoil our holiday one bit. It is just part of nature that happens or not. Here is a website that has more info about the sargassum. everythingplayadelcarmen.com/the-summer-of-seaweed/ There are also beach cams that show what the live beaches look like. This one shows the whole year speeded up. If you notice the beach was clear in January 2018 - www.lookr.com/lookout/1205065370-Xetna#action-play-year You could contact the hotel and ask if there is an issue. Last year we travelled down the coast on a trip to Tulum and there was no seaweed. But looking at these live webcams there does appear to be wide spread seaweed across most beaches but it seems that the sargassum is in very small lines, not as bad as we experienced last year. But it can change for better or worse as the year goes along. Here is another link to webcams that have a beach view around the Mexican area. webcamsdemexico.com/ I do hope you have a lovely time out there, we did and we would love to go back one day. Do let us know how your holiday was in Mexico. Good luck from Tim & Diana x
Oh no! That was such a great experience. Probably someone had a fall or needed rescuing from the top. Health & Safety issue? I'll have to look it up. Thanks for the information, I bet you were very disappointed, I would be! 😳
Thank you Bruce, we would love to do this and travel the world staying in lovely hotels for free! I am a freelance cameraman, started in 1987 and Diana is an ex presenter on many UK radio stations for the past 35 years, now a Hypnotherapist. I feel we are a perfect team for this kind of work as we both love what we do. Thank you for your kind comment, much appreciated.
