I love this theme. Your ideas for each page and the final looks are absolutely stunning. 💚🐍💚 Snakes are one of my (many) favourite animals. I even have a snake tattooed on my foot and around my ankle, ending in a celtic knot. It's around 13 years old and I still love it so much.
I like snakes aesthetically, but I’m not a fan of them in person 😂 In my freshman year of college, my bio lab instructor brought in his pet snakes and lizards for our taxonomy section and the snake lovers were very excited to hold them. I decided it would be a good chance to try and get over my fear of snakes, so I held one. Then it bit me. So still not a fan 😅
OOOO, NAILED IT!! I love LOVE how this turned out! Coincidentally, I came across a baby garter snake on my walk today and, as it was headed out into the road, I gently picked it up and put it in the grass. I hope it doesn't get smooshed. I love it.
This is such a beautiful theme, Elizabeth!! One snake creation story that you didn't mention is that of the Rainbow Serpent, from Aboriginal Australian Dreamtime stories! Not too far from me here in Aotearoa New Zealand! And I actually looked it up because I realised that I've never personally met a snake (city slicker so not surprising) nor heard of anyone running into one here, so fun fact: Aotearoa New Zealand doesn't have any land snakes, only sea snakes. Perks of living on an island country I guess haha.
So I live in Australia and we are also an island country with some of the deadliest snakes in the world. The snakes are also protected. So it is not uncommon to see and have deadly snakes visit your yard, when you live near the bush as I do. That being said it is rare to hear of any deaths caused by snakes. More likely to hear of someone’s dog being taken to the vet for Anti-venom.
Whoo..... Never knew snakes could be anything else than scary. But u made them look beautiful. The snake community shud literally thank you for making them look so pretty. And the cover page was truly worth the time. Lots of love from India......... Stay blessed
in norse mythology from what I remember the snakes were the ones who made rivers and canyons as well as mountains and ravines because they traveled all over the world through the different waterways
Such a beautiful theme, as always. Absolutely love the gold on top of the black acrylographs, it pops so nicely! I also love the idea of splitting your habit trackers into as many days as you'd actually want to do them, that makes a lot more sense! I may try that in the future ❤
I came here for a journal spread follow-along and got the process into some fine art. What a fun cross-section of creativity and functionality -- this pushes both and is such fun to follow. I wish I'd had something like this back in art school a decade ago, haha. Very nice work!
The cute yet slightly creepy thing is really working for me somehow - and works perfectly for October too. Love it! On top of that this is just perfect inspiration while I’m waiting for my very first archer & olive journal, expected to arrive any day now ✨
It has always been a delight to watch your monthly bujo themes. This is the best bujo theme for October that I have come across on the internet so far. ❤❤The color palette, the design theme, the month vibes (inktober)....everything is so cohesive... !! 😍😍
I think I'm going to do Monarch butterflies, since they'll be migrating. When I was a kid, we had a gopher snake named Slimy. I'd wrap him around my neck and he'd just hang out and chill.
Love it! I love snakes. I have a healthy respect for the damage they can do, but even cute fluffy animals can hurt you. My biology teacher had a boa that lived in a big habitat in her classroom. I got done with my work early every day bc it meant I would be able to hold the snake. I love them, especially constrictors, bc they are less likely to bite and they are used to using their body to touch living (at least for a minute) creatures.
I'm in love with this theme ! It's one of my favorites ever (even if the greek mythology and the moth are still my fav) I'm quite amazed by your ideas and the outcome ! I love snakes and I also love the way you mixed them with flowers and a really vintage vibe ! I'd love to see in a video, one day, your process to plan a spread : how you find your ideas and references if you use some, how you prep your spreads, what are your artistic influences , etc. I'd love to hear you about all of that =) If you're interested in the symbol of snakes and indigneous population of Latin America, Jeremy Narby wrote a book about snakes (and many others aspects of their cultural & religious practises) called the cosmic serpent. It's a book where you can feel that the author has some beliefs about spirituality, so you may want to be a little cautious sometimes with his interpretations, but he is an anthropologist and it's quite well documented ^^
@@PlantBasedBride I'm glad ! This book was a fav of mine when I was really into New Age beliefs. I'm not anymore, but I still enjoy that book =) I'd love to see that video =) I'm sure it'll be fascinating to discover your creative process as well as your art inspiration
An anthropologist who actually believes the people they're studying is a sign of a really good anthropologist. It means they genuinely respect the knowledge of the people they're studying.
For December 2021 pictures of a partridge and maybe the history of all the items of the twelve days of Christmas. The items chosen have always intrigued me.
I absolutely love the contrast between graphic and dainty. I think your style resembles traditional tattoo styles, and I'm always impressed how you can pull off so many different styles and still all your art is recognisable to me as yours, if you know what I mean
I love snakes ! I have 2 snake tattoos - I got the first one age 21, because I had read that every 7 years every cell in your body has renewed, so by age 21 I had renewed 3 times, like a snake shedding a skin. This months theme is constellation/moon theme because it always feels like the vibe for October
Love it! So beautiful! Snakes are usually also associated with goddess and the underworld. They are seen as full of rainbows is several indigenous cultures.
Love, love, LOVE this theme. I have a lovely pet snake, a lavender morph corn snake named Leviathan, and am always pleased to see someone showing some serpent love! :)
This theme is not usually used for october i think but the other complementary decor and stylization makes it tasteful. And the bgm!! Ugh i love it! Both the theme and bgm, surprisingly, fit together. 💖💕
I happen to adore snakes; I think they’re beautiful. As a child I wanted one as a pet, but my father is terrified of them so it wasn’t happening. He grew up in Texas, home of many extremely poisonous snakes, so fearing snakes was simply smart. The artwork in this video is simply beautiful!
Madame White Snake or Legend of Madame White Snake is a interesting book and drama and movie. So many versions available now and my favorite version is the 1992 drama version. Classic!!!
These snakes are beautiful 🐍 I'd like to see a Harry Potter theme with the 4 houses (or is that too nerdy?) and a dragon theme with different types of dragons (maybe water dragons)
Love everything about this video!~ The spread is gorgeous, the music and your voice soothed me, and the snake mythology facts were a nice touch! I love both! Always love your videos but this one made me feel warm :)
This theme is so stunning - I love the idea of drawing snakes but expressed in an elegant and beautiful way - they're such fascinating creatures and thank you for exploring all the mythology around them, so interesting!
Wow, this is so stunning! I’m in awe with how simple and calming yet intricate and detailed this theme is! And the color theme is so beautiful ! That coral compliments the black so well✨😍🐍
This is my first video of yours and it was lovely to watch. I'm new to bullet journaling videos in general but I think I'll be coming back to this channel for sure.
I love it! My daughter went to college and left her 3 ball pythons in my bedroom - her duplex doesn’t allow any pets. They have become my favorite pets.
Aesthetically snakes are so pretty and cool but I still get uncomfortable looking at them. This theme was so gorgeous and now I feel like drawing a bunch of cute snakes. Love the set-up 😍💚
I really "hate" the theme of this spread because I suffer of ophidiophobia, so I watched the cover page for five days to find the courage to watch the video. I have to say that your spread it's so good that even the snake is almost nice, almost! keep going, I really love your art, you're so good! 💚
Gorgeous as always Elizabeth! I love the idea of using snakes for October because like you said, it's slightly creepy and spooky without hitting you over the head with it. Awesome job as always!
Wow. This is so intricate but BEAUTIFUL. Thank you for sharing! I hadn't thought to buy stamps and use them the way you do but, I am inspired to do so now!
You are so awesome!! Always impressing me by your skills and your kindness and respect to everything. I'm going to start my BUJO from 12th!! I'm so excited and I am really a lot thankfull to you to making me encourage for starting one. Well as you asked in the video, in Indian mythology, Sheshnaag(a snake with 6 heads) who is always with Lord Vishnu. In Ramayana, Ram's brother Lakshmana is an incarnation of Sheshnaag and Ram Vishnu's. Snakes are also worshipped as God on some occasions. And a lot more but snake(especially Naag) has a lot singnificance in Indian Mythology. Love you so much💕
Such a simple and beautiful theme! A theme that I would love to see would be anime, but not many people like doing that kind of theme and it doesn't really fit with your previous themes so maybe a Lofi theme?
This is one of my favorite set of spreads you've done, Elizabeth! I love the realism and cartoon aspects mashed together. The element of wonder and whimsy with slightly spoopy vibes. Eggcellent work!
Great video the snake theme is a great idea and that coverpage...just wow that lettering is genius in my opinion. Also great facts about snakes and wonderful page designs
I expected snakes to feel disgusting, wet, slimy but they're actually not. The first time I carried one, it felt good. Well it was heavy because it was a python. We were 10 men carrying it but it did feel calm. ofc it felt leathery but the snake was so cold. I'm from the Bicol Region of Philippines and in our mythology we have this god named "Bakunawa" who is a sea-serpent. I forgot most of the story but Bakunawa ate other deities who were stars or heavenly bodies. That's why when there are eclipses, we remember how the serpent god Bakunawa ate the stars.
Not mythology, but in Finland people used to have something called "elättikäärme", a snake they kept around in their house and fed with milk so it would keep the rodents away and personally I think that's super cute
Ooh I love this spread! Personally love the spooky season and all things autumn but how it is flying by so quickly. I wish septembers and October’s were longer
Oh my gosh I’m obsessed with this theme! Definitely going to do something with snakes for my October. And I definitely agree with you on the hand and snake imagery. Something so satisfying about it. I can always count on you for inspiration for my bullet journal 😍
