This was a tough year for gardening. The bitter cold, the the intense heat and then an early freeze in November. My tomatoes had recovered from the heat so well and then that freeze came along. 😢 Love your zinnias! Bermuda grass is so difficult to control or get rid of in my yard too. 😡 Hope all is well with you. I hadn’t seen your videos pop up lately. I’m moving all of my potted plants inside today to get ready for this next hurdle of unseasonably very low temps in our zone. It’s really been a challenge and I’m hoping 2023 is better!
Hi! 2022 was definitely a challenging gardening year. It got hot super-early then that November cold snap derailed the recovery...My fall romas were just about to start ripening when we got a freeze, and I was out of town so I couldn't even try and save them. I haven't created a video in a little while; life has gotten a more busy. But in the new year I'll be back to creating as I prepare for early spring. Thank you for watching and all the best to you in 2023!
I'm just a bit north of Dallas (Carrollton). This incredibly hot, summer drought was a bust for production. I kept everything green but that's about all the plants could manage. Now, with the rain and more reasonable temps, the jalapeños, green peppers, southern peas, christmas lima beans, etc are producing. But my tomatoes were a total bust this year. I guess I got too optimistic by planting beefsteak seeds. The plants were green and grew high but there were zero worthwhile tomatoes. With climate change, I may try cherry tomatoes next year or I may give up on growing tomatoes. Fingers crossed that we have a few more weeks of growth before our first freeze.
Your summer garden sounds a lot like mine. The summer was brutal! I'm so happy to finally be getting green beans, and my peppers are producing like crazy as well. I've had the best results with cherry tomatoes as far as indeterminates go; it seems like they can handle the heat better. For determinates, my romas did well, but my Amish paste didn't produce at all...the plants grew big and beautiful but didn't give me a single tomato.
Hi, Thanks for watching abd checking in! I'll be publishing my first garden tour of the season in a few days, and many more videos during the growing season. Life has been hectic, but good, so I stepped back for a little while.
I had a few mice in my backyard one winter; we used the black plastic mouse traps to get rid of them. I haven't had any since. We spray rodent spray around the outside fence every month or so as a deterrent.
