We are always amazed at the variety of plants in your garden. We have zucchini, tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers growing in our container garden. Have not picked anything yet, but it’s getting close! Our Double Delight and Peace roses are pushing out fall blooms. Looking forward to a bit lower temps! Ok, a lot lower. 😊

Hi Angela your garden always looks so much like a beautiful meadow. It’s half way through spring here whilst september was nice and warm in the 2O Celicus range . I planted tomatoes capsicum zucchini cucumbers watermelon lettuce radishes basil rocket sunflowers zinnia marigolds gladioli petunias .After an initial burst of growth due to the sun shine and new compost and worm castings

Oops touched over the send arrow before I finished my message. October has brought very cool weather and lots of rain. Hopefully they will establish well as we also have very hot summers. I used your idea of unground worm bin in a garden bed that was dry crumbling and not responding to traditional t ammendments a a few months have passed and the soil texture and structure have so much improved.

How often are you watering right now? My Armenian cucumbers are still growing strong and my neighbors are tiring of them. Tomatoes, peppers, basil and squash are all producing. Planted some parsley, beets, radishes, kale and Swiss chard. Getting ready to plant broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower. Love this time of year!

What a summer. Almost felt like throwing in the trowel. 😟 The cooler temps seem to be working their magic. Even though my fall vegetable starts were battered by leaf minor, I planted what could be salvaged (mostly bare stems with a hint of one tiny leaf) and covered them with sheer curtains to help keep off the moths. We shall see. Thank you for the videos of your abundant garden and the much needed motivation to keep going.

Thanks for this tour and the video. I grew up with Roselle Hibiscus. In Trinidad, we call it sorrel and make juice with it. Mine are just starting to bud again and I was worried about it but I will be patient with it now. I'm zone 9b, Murrieta California

I am in Glendale AZ zone 9b. We had NO rain at all. Many plants died. Was able to save a few. Planting seeds hoping it isn't too late already. Love your garden. Working on growing Wild Palo Verde trees that volunteered so maybe I'll have good shade from those trees next summer!

Are your trellis and arch from local shop or big box stores? I recalled you mentioned the name of the local shop in previous video but didn’t catch it. I live in phx area, want to find a local shop to install arched trellis.

You have such a beautiful garden! I’ve just purchased lettuces and kale, lemongrass and garlic chives and will be planting them in large barrels. I’m hoping I’m not planting them too early. Enjoy your weekend - thanks for the update!

Just planted lettuces and onions. Garlic goes in tomorrow. I have some sweet potato slips to plant but they are not quite ready yet. I am on zone 9B Southern California. Do you think it will be too late to plant the sweet potatoes? I have never done them before. We were 45° this morning. We should get a light frost early next month.

I'd wait until spring to plant the sweet potatoes. They grow best in the heat.

I'm in zone 9a. We have a saying here about planting sweet potatoes around Valentine's Day. "Love in the air; potatoes in the ground." or "Hearts in the air; potatoes in the ground." It's a good way to remember when to plant them.😊

Where did you get the root beer hyssop from? What is your favorite local & online place to buy plants & seeds from? What about where you buy your compost and soil / soil amendments from?

I got the hyssop from Renee's Seeds: sh2543.ositracker.com/159509/9151/url_29327 I like Botanical Interests and Renee's Garden Seeds. You can also get Arizona-adapted varieties at Native Seeds Search. I get all my soil, compost, and amendments from Arizona Worm Farm.

It was great to learn that you keep the ends of your beds free for herbs and flours. Do you select these places because of sun exposure or convenience? It looks like the east end of the bed from the shadows, but hard to tell, really.
@GrowingInTheGarden
@GrowingInTheGarden 9 месяцев назад
Connivence and beauty. Each bed has different sun exposure, so I have to vary what I plant.

Your plants look so healthy. Do you typically use compost for "fertilizing," or do you also add fertilizer products?
@GrowingInTheGarden
@GrowingInTheGarden 9 месяцев назад
Usually compost, worm castings and vermicomposting bins in each bed.

Thank You for your input. I have another question. Do cucumber seedlings like Styrofoam containers? Or would bell peoper plants be better for Styrofoam container? You are awesome with the informative videos. I wished I had the land room to have a real garden with raised beds, room for greenhouse. But instead, we live in RV Park, I use the picnic table for all the plants. ⚘️😁❤️
