Sorry you haven't been feeling well. On the mend, I hope. Don't feel bad about not liking a popular deck like Dark Wood (I'm with you on that one!). The variety of decks and fact that we don't have to jump on the bandwagon and all have our own unique taste is one of the things I like about tarot. Thanks for sharing these 😀

I really hope you end up feeling better! I think it’s interesting how you talk about the Dark Wood Tarot. Like, when having the review on when I was next door with my brother and mom, my mom was so confused. 😂 Like, she was the one that jumped on getting this deck because she’s a fan of the artist’s work. (My mom turns 50 next year.) I like the artwork, so I ended up picking it up early October to use for the season, and my younger brother (22) didn’t care for it. Though I guess my mom, like, is into that kind of stuff anyway. While there are still little bits of what was my emo phase left, I’m not really into the aesthetic anymore, and my brother is like a baby goth and likes some punk, which is different. The darker kind of decks that we’re drawn to is like The Lubanko Tarot or the Blood Moon Tarot, which has become a favorite of mine. I backed The Corrupted Tarot on Kickstarter and look forward to when that comes. So far, I’ve liked the Dark Wood Tarot, not as much as my mom, but I think it pairs nicely with the Compendium of Witches Oracle, which I’ve been liking a lot since I got it as a gift for my birthday last month.

Hope you're starting to feel better, Dawn! I feel the same way about the Dark Mansion Tarot as you did about the Les Vampires Oracle - I wasn't sure I would click with the wobbly-headed-doll style of art, but I found it so much fun to read, sort of cheeky but no-nonsense. I was almost sad to put it away, and can't wait to play with it again next October!

I've got the original Barbara Walker tarot and quite honestly I think the size is the same as the tin version. It's always been a small deck.

Don't know if anyone mentioned it, but the Witches Oracle & Barbara Walker Tarot combo was mentioned in Candy Soul and Soil's "Deck Collection Witchy Decks" video. You might have seen it there.

I totally get what you mean by just not connecting with a deck. For me it was The Oriens Tarot. I absolutely adore the artwork and the deck itself is just gorgeous! But for some reason things just really feel off whenever I try and read with it. Which is surprising considering I work quite well with my other animal-only decks. I cleansed it a couple of times, done a bunch of stuff to get to know it and bond with it, but it never really worked out. I've finally made peace with it and accepted that it's really just not going to work out and it's neither deck's fault nor mine. I will be gifting it to my best friend instead since she really loved the pictures I've sent of it. : )

Hahaha! 😂😂😂 Barbara Walker is most definitely not a nice deck! It kicks arse and brings out a tantrum. Can’t ignore or get rid of it. I bought her guide book. Amazing scholarship!

Great video, Dawn! It was funny you mentioned the BE as a quick ass deck. Mine scares me sh...less 😂 If I may ask, how did you manage to edge the Zombie ? I wanted to use my black Sharpie but the stock is a but too permeable and the ink bleeds to the front side... 😕

Why do people use markers instead of paint for boarding decks. So cool! I tried to get in to Bratz dolls, but agree.I did like using them for designing clothes I actually love the veown and green. Its different Love the Dark Wood Tarot!

Usually we use marker because it dries pretty instantly whereas paint or stamps takes longer to dry. 🙂 Thank you for watching. ❤️

Forgive if this is a silly question - I know folks are all different - but is edging a deck mostly for aesthetic reasons or is there a energetic reason to edge one ? Does it hold energy better ? I’m new to the idea of modifying decks and have been wondering. Thanks!

hi! just wanted to chime in with my opinion : ) i used to be really scared of edging decks and was even flabbergasted by the idea at first. but i started edging my decks when i noticed a disconnect between the backs/borders/art of the cards and the edges, like it was suddenly cut off. for example really dark decks with white edges. so yes some are for aesthetic reasons, to somewhat make the deck feel "whole". tho there are also ones that i edged because i felt like it adds to the whole energy of the deck. i have one edged in rainbow colors and it helped a lot with amplifying the joyful energy of that deck. hope this helps a little! : )

I find that one the surface level, it's really just for aesthetics, but underneath that, it helps me bond and connect to the deck. It makes it feel like my own once I edge it. I hope that helps. 🙂 Thank you for watching. ❤️

I've thought about getting the vampire Oracle and combining it with the Oracle of shadows and light (I have) and taking out the cards that I don't like. I dislike any messages I get from the guidebook that are meant for teenagers in school tho 😐 wish there was a guidebook for adults

I feel the same way about the messages for teens in the oracle of Shadow and Light. I actually got the original (Australian) version and I love it so much more. Someone in Greece sold it to me on ebay. I'm sure you could find another copy!

The vampire one was pretty good, I enjoyed the write-ups in it. I don't have the other one but I did watch lots of videos on it and I feel the vampire one is a bit more grown-up.

The full size Barbara Walker isn’t worth it as it’s practically the same size as the Tin version.

@@DawnMichelleTarot connaisseurs will probably hate on me for not mentioning that the ‘original version’ has ‘superior’ colors. But that difference is so minimal to me that it doesn’t justify the exorbitant price difference between the tin ‘reprint’ and the ‘original’
