Of all the bosses to have this theme, Father sticks with me the most. Between his insta-kill gimmick and his increasingly unhinged voice acting as the fight goes on, this theme makes an already intense encounter even more so.
This theme was for the bosses with a slightly more serious undertone. There tends to be something more critical on the line, like someone's well-being or even their life.
I too had that impression when listening to this in each boss. Either someone was going to die, or their mental state has or was about to be broken for good, with a few it was kind of both.
I agree if you play ace attorney insvetigation 2 this ost is kinda like confrontation - presto 2011, the first time you hear it you dont like it but the more you hear it the more you realize its a really good soundtrack
I find Decisive and Critical 1 (especially Critical Clash 1) to be quite under-rated. Even whenever official arrangements come out, none of the first variants of boss battles ever get remixed. And people only ever talk about Decisive or Critical 2. To be fair, they're all very good and the second variants are catchier, but Critical 2 alone has been arranged in all three arrangement albums. Give Critical 1 some love, please...
This plays for the following bosses: Dark Entity Glacis Sand Lion Mother Father Grieving Golem Giff Thurston Duorduor Veronica Vados the Architect Deputy Cubaryi Ritsu Mishuyo
Always felt like this theme should have been reserved for the more serious bosses who had more build-up and severity. Critical clash 2 is like the "hell yeah, boss fight time," whereas this theme is "oh dear, this just got serious." I'd have switched Vados, Duorduor, and Giff to CC2 and put Pirro, Rai Mei, and Felvarg with CC1.
@@kristophergarrett4653 I agree with that except for Vados and Felvarg personally. With Felvarg, the battle isn’t as serious as Temenos quickly determines that it was just a tool used by the culprit. With Vados, he’s not only the one who killed Jorg but has also killed two more people and is clearly part of a much larger plot, so I think the more intense CC1 fits there.
@medmax5941 I found Felvarg had a very haunting aura to its arrival. A large monster lurking in a dark church after just murdering the pontiff, giving the sense of dread that this is a killer beast. Vados is a panicking goon who only retaliates as a last resort despite already getting caught. Not too dissimilar to Bandelam, who fights again despite the conclusion of the tournament.
I'm gonna have to do a whole new run in Octopath 2, just to hear all the godly battle themes. And to actually beat _you-know-who_ this time around lmao
That goddamn thing....how is it not easily beat with the other secret jobs?! Drove me nuts! If it's what I think it is, I'm determined to kill it this time!
Looking back at this video again make me wish that they dont actually went too heavy with the lighting because it make the color of the sprites a bit too blue-ish
