Great vid, keep them up! I will say though the Freo insufficient intent call is 100% correct. What he's meant to do in that situation is use his hands to take possession of the ball and then take a controlled disposal towards a teammate instead. A wayward kick without using hands is always insufficient intent because gaining ground without control of the ball has less intention at keeping the ball in play than a controlled disposal (towards a teammate).
5:49 I reckon at the end of the season you should award a point of the year. Maybe you could make a little certificate and get it to the player somehow.
Not sure how much this will interest you but Serong kicking the ball off the deck towards the boundary to clear the pack should be a free kick against. The rule comes from the spirit "the players shall endeavour to keep the ball in play" and the law is (not verbatim) "if a player is deemed to have not shown sufficient intent to keep the ball in play a free kick should be paid against them".

My biggest oddity for this round has to be the Crows coach putting in Berry as a tactical sub when we are like 60 points ahead, immediately within the first minute of the 3rd quarter he impacts the game in a major way idk why he isn’t just given full games or a chance unless we have already lost or already won
For Harley Reid’s specky attempt, a different angle shows the defender take his eyes off the ball to stop Harley’s run and jump. That’s why Reid thought it was his free kick he was blocked and I’m a Geelong supporter so not biased

A lot of umpire slander this week, I definitely think most of these calls were the correct calls except for maybe the McLean one (do note that I go for swans). In my opinion the boundary one is completely acceptable as the entire ball has to be out and the boundary umpire looked to be in a great position.
4:22 There was no free paid because the Collingwood player threw the ball to the wrong Fremantle player when it was Freo's. However, in the 4th quarter, Collingwood threw it to another Collingwood player when it wasn't collingwoods ball.
As someone that umpires sport. The first minute of the game there is a lot of adrenaline and you are still getting your eye in for distances and calls. Sometimes you are just trying to keep an eye on the play ahead and in the second that takes you a kick has happened and you aren’t sure if it was or wasn’t far enough and you just have to trust your gut.
Deliberately passing the ball to a team mate away from the ump when the he is calling for it should be a free kick. And it is a free kick in the rule book. 4:36 the umpire was calling for the ball to go to Fyfe, not for himself, you can't whinge and say theres no consistency when they're two different plays. One of them the umpire was calling for the ball, one of the the umpire was asking for the ball to be given to a Freo player.

Watched the Wb syd game and pies freo, man the frees really ruined it for me. Ried is doing some great stuff and is fun to watch but Daicos is a few steps ahead for sure.
As a swannies fan it’s never nice going out with a win on the back of two horrible calls that almost certainly snuffed out an opponent’s comeback and cemented the win. Disgraceful umpiring across the round. Don’t get me wrong, doggies can suck a battered savv, but they deserved a fair crack and that wasn’t it.
Pies fan here, I was ok with the umpiring in our game. They made a few mistakes both ways, great game imo. One thing I thought was interesting this week was everyone moaning that Harley Reid didn't get a free for being blocked in that marking attempt 7:48 I think there needs to be a statement from the AFL about these situations because if its ok to knee a player in the head and concuss them in a marking contest, then surly its ok for that player do stop that from happening by doing exactly what Sullivan did to protect himself. - McGovern is the worst flop in the AFL, yes needs to be fined, he's an absolute embarrassment to the game.
It is a free kick because it's been paid before. The rule is give the ball to the umpire, not a teammate. They've paid it on the boundry before so lack of awareness from Collingwood and fully deserving of a free kick
Definitely Daicos! Not returning directly to umpire is wasting time?!!! What - a few milliseconds?!!!? Want to stop time wasting how about doing away with stoppages altogether - make it illegal to hold the ball against the man!!! Too drastic? How drastic was out on the full when introduced?, 50 mtr penalties?!!!etc….
You were a bit off this week, not up to your usual standard. The last one was for a 50m penalty for not standing the mark. The two giving the ball back - the first one (a free kick) was because it should have been given to the umpire, not another player. The Freo one was to a player (albeit the wrong one). This is not a free kick. The Bulldogs spoil was line-ball, but I've seen those given many, many times.
The free for time wasting has to hold. There's too many grey areas in the game already without giving the decision to umpire judgement. Correct decision. Don't know whether you saw Butter's goal in his first ten seconds.
Umpiring has gone to the dogs in the last two years. It was never great but I feel that the standard and consistency of umpiring has tanked in recent years.
