Just seeing the cutscenes, it would be amazing to see this whole thing as an animated series or even just a long movie.

I think they should make it a mix of movies, shows, and books if they really want to fully realize the potential pf something likebthis

If you look at the translation Big Head does when burns the doll of Mulluk, it actually seems like this was part of a curse to cause this to happen.

Pilot Slig is a lot more intelligent and emotionally mature than most of his kind. I hope we get to see more of him as Mulluck's Right-Hand man. And let's not forget, he practically extorted a Glukkon when it came to worker's benefits. Absolute MadLad.

I guess that slig is closer of mullok than the others. Although, he heared and probably witness about what his collegues have been through when Abe take control of them (mind control in some sort). At this moment, he got some remorse and pity about it and become more friendly, knowing that death is not as funny as it seems.

Looks like the Pilot needs a name all his own, and I have the perfect one for him: "Saul".

It looks more like he made a movie and converted it into a video game

I've never played the game, I have no idea what the background info is, and so I am not part of any fandom of this game but I found a RU-vid reel of this, and went to watch this video and yeah, I want a movie. This entire video was high quality, well made, and had fantastic characters outside of the antagonist's impractical body shape. I would go to the theaters to watch whatever this game is. Tl;Dr I have zero context or bias for the game and agree that based off the cutscenes this would have made a great film.

@@CeramicQuillthe antagonists body shape is because they are descendants of squid like creatures and just have two long arms which appear to be feet in these cutscenes

It’s such an interesting plot line. You don’t see a lot of storylines like this in current popular media cause they seem too busy too be preaching rather then telling an engaging story

For an alien he acts really damn human. I love it

The whole world of oddworld is anti-capitalist. The characters are all representing a member of the pyramid of the capitalism : The gluckons are the highest class. They are the one who represents the big bosses, the one who maintain their buisness and the one who profit the most. The slugs are the middle classe. They are representing the authority and the oppression tool used by the upper classes. The species of abe (I don't remember their name) are the lowest class. They are the gears of the factory, the one who are stuck in these polluted prison to make all of the dirty work for nothing but sweat and pain.

Their saving grace is the decay caused by corruption and paranoia. An empire filled to the brim like that is only a fit bad hits from collapsing. Abe and his friends are the ones tasked with toppling the empire

Right off the bat, when he says, "I dont know how to help you." I love that line and the entire scene from a writing perspective. Hate it from a sensitive viewer's perspective lol but still. It hits so hard and carries so much more meaning than just the fact of mortality. Its the internalized notion that he is supposed to be the hero, and the hero is supposed to be super strong, and brave, and exceptional and theyre supposed to save everyone. But thats not what heroism is. Its like you've said: tragic. And so begins the lesson in which he'll learn that.

Exactly! I'm totally in love with these cutscenes!!! Please take a moment to appreciate minute 1:07:09 if you haven't already. It's that subtle muscle movement of Aslik's facial expression hinting at pride, satisfaction and trust! It's my favourite detail in this movie... The characters look so alive and expressive!

I remember them being likened to featherless birds.

But from the little 3D I have studied, this is still remarkable.The scene at 1:08:00 alone, showing the suspension railway, is breathtaking for a game employing cartoonish, if gruesome, environments. This very old frachise started as a stylised platformer and still doesn't have the ambition to recreate 3D realism, but I think the generation gap was well translated with this 3D work. I cannot imagine what more they could have done with the limitations imposed by the style. What is it that you identify as early ps4 and what did you expect from a ps5 game, if I may ask?

@@degenesis21 First of all I have to say that i am by no means adducated in gaming rendering (i do make Architectural renderings but its not fair to comare ot to those) so you outrank me hahaha. No what i meant was taking in to account that is a next gen game console and to have flat facing fire like in 7:55 is kind of autrageous. I feel al lot of outdated ways of moddeling have been used is some place. Or the lack of bumpmap in the wood and the visible blocky inside of the hand. this place 37:40 when abe touches the wood. It looks like early lest gen or even late ps3. I feel like we have seen much better 3D in last gen consoles (let alone pc). Maybe the game had to be finished asap for launch with the new consoles.

At first i thought it was a Chronicler, due to the "supress rumours" line, but looking at the original storyboards for Soulstorm, it shows that there are actual Wolvarks instead of Sligs, in that scene where the burning train is entering the factory.

If i recall, in the original Oddysee Abe found out that, contrary to what he believed, the Mudokans brought their fates onto themselves due to being arrogant, unchanging, and eventually falling so far behind the Glukkons that they willingly subjected themselves into their slavery to survive. But because Abe is a bit mentally stilted, it's difficult for him to fully comprehend this. Ironically, the Mudokans were directly responsible for turning the Glukkons into what they are now. "Why would they? and "How could they" refer to the knowledge of the Mudokans giving themselves up to become slaves. Because they couldn't produce enough to survive, they needed employment into the Glukkons' thriving factories for food. Abe himself back in New N Tasty lived a life benefiting from this ancient deal as he once loved the Rupture Farm snacks and was proud of being part of their creation until he found out the ugly truth behind it all, and the sheer amount of shame he feels during this reveal is seeing the even bigger picture of everything. The ancient Mudokans were similarly cruel as the Glukkons, just in a different era, and Abe needs to make sure that this history doesn't keep on repeating itself.
