Oddworld: The Grin Of The Greeters 

I’m beginning to think you may be a fan of Oddworld.

Imagine if the Glukkons had the Vykers turn down the voltage on the these things weapons and re-filled them with products. The Greeter could then chase around potential buyers and “incentivize” them to make purchases with a nice, friendly *zap* . ... Maybe they tried that already and the greeters continued to actively zap Mudokons to death as they had no Moolah.

The Greeters are like something I would expect to see in the Fallout universe.

If the Joker made the Daleks rather than Davros, you get Oddworld's Greeters.

The Greeters are like The Joker, but with a wheel and motion sensors.

You could also make the argument that in universe they gave them slig voices to make sligs slightly more feared,because every time they hear the voice of the sligs they're going to automatically assume it's a greeter due to how nerve racking they are.

The Greeters are, personally, one of my favorite Oddworld enemies, but, to be fair, I think I say that about pretty much any Oddworld enemy so I guess that statement is redundant. But, nevertheless, I do think they're one of the most creepiest, best and original enemies in Oddworld and it would definitely be great to see them make a comeback in Oddworld: Soulstorm.

Their smiles have creeped me out since I was a kid.

Kinda dislike their mechanics in Soulstorm. Just one big, red, sometimes buggy death field in front of them, instead of the old motion sensor beam.

The first time I saw the Greeters, they felt a bit random. Seeing all the Sligs and generally alien stuff, a trash can on wheels felt out of place, now it makes a bit more sense

That Glukkon voice replacement is an amazing idea, I hope something like this gets added to Soulstorm!

I've always wanted one of these rolling back and forth in front of my bedroom as a kid. The buff they gave to these guys in Soulstorm made me want them even more now

Building battledroids as standard infantry is not only financially efficient but also combat efficient. The battles during the clone wars that were fought conventionally were done so where numbers were more important than anything else.

And here, the noble Slig's mating call, "Move it! You're anime!" is heard through Comet Depot, to signify dominance over the Cogs, the Lemons, and varoius other organisms of the ecosystem that it lives in.

I can think of a reason why greeters have to have slig voices. To command slogs. Slogs would be trained from voice like dogs I presume and Slig voices command them.

Its like in the original battlefront 2, moreso with certain mods, it's you're playing republic vs cis, you come across a Droideka and you need to think about how you're gonna take it down. They're a threat, you need to have thermal detonators to take down their shields or be able to manouver from cover to cover to evade

They're supposed to look like a soda or can of the product they sell. This was stated a while back but I can't find it now

I remembered seeing this for the first time when I was young and thinking, "Wha- the fu?" 😅 I'm happy that they brought them back for SoulStorm, but it kinda sucks that they're completely invulnerable now. 😕

I’m pretty sure the smile was left in not because of minimal effort, but to help mudokons identify them. It probably isn’t going to help the whole “killing-slaves” problem if the mudokons can’t differentiate the greeters from the surrounding area. The areas shown where greeters were placed are all metallic and rusty, which must make them blend in. So a big bright smile like what the greeters have would help mudokons doing their job stay away from their demise

I would like to point out that these guys would not work in Munch's, they work because they're in a 2D environment, porting them into 3D would turn their focus area into a big red circle on the floor that, while erratic, is likely to be MUCH more avoidable excepting on very very specific/narrow halls/paths
