Ode to Minions (a ballad dedicated to squished Goombas) 

I grew up with brawl in the family and when I found this song's original release I sang it for our schools 5th grade talent show (with some changed lyrics with help from my mom, school didn't like the word genocide and killed after all). After that I went on to do musicals and even got a few solos in choir, all thanks to me enjoying this song enough to want to pursue singing more as a kid. Seeing this get a remaster makes my heart so happy and as I'm finishing up at college, it means the world to see this. Thank you Matthew, your work has truly impacted my life for the better.

This is that Ratatouille moment when the critic takes a bite from the ratatouille and is brought back to his younger days, I remember listening to the original when it came out 12 years ago, always started my day with BitF before high school.

It’s been 14 years and I still know all the lyrics. I was 13 back then and now I’m 27, but BitF will always hold a special place in my heart, love this new version!

Some differences I noticed from the original The Lakitu frozen by Mario is replaced with a Zinger who gets blown up by Diddy Kong (A Lakitu does appear in the background of this scene as a potential nod to the original) New scenes with King Dedede and Cactaur replace the “Good night, sweet Kraken.” and “He used bombs wisely, but at what cost?!” scenes respectively. Red was replaced with Leaf (and a classic My Neighbor Totoro reference!) The dwarf Bulborbs were replaced with the more lore-accurate Bulborb larva The Sir Kibble was replaced with an Octotrooper The Redead uses its Tears of the Kingdom design instead of Ocarina of Time, and the pot in its office is made more obvious that it’s a Yoshi’s Island reference with Roger the Potted Ghost appearing inside of it. Imps from Final Fantasy were replaced with Slimes A wider variety of enemies from different franchises appear in Bowser’s crowd instead of just Mario enemies.

I still know this song by heart over a decade later. I really appreciate the extra stank that went into this version's "GRAB AN EXTRA SCREWWWW" lmao

Our first BitMusical is a remaster of an old classic?! Wait it has updated lyrics so is it a remake? An enhanced port...? Either way, it's a masterpiece! I fully expected these to all be completely new songs so this was a welcome surprise. With the Switch likely to be retired soon I hope an updated History of Nintendo is in the works! And with how much you love Christmas I'm excited to play some new and updated festive songs in the car later this year. I can't wait for all the new songs you make and any familiar ones that may be mixed in!

I loved Brawl in the Family when I was a kid in middle school, and there's one bit in this that feels kind of funny and personal to me in retrospect. Because in the original version it was the male Pokemon trainer who slayed the Snorlax, and when I saw the original I was a boy. Now years later I've transitioned into a woman, and the trainer who killed Snorlax in this version was the female trainer. So when Bowser sings "You've slain them just for being in your way", it feels even more like Bowser is actually talking to me, haha. ...Kinda weird I'm getting gender euphoria from a video game villain accusing me of murder, but that's just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes! XD

I always imagined that the chorus of this song were other Nintendo villains honoring their minions with Bowser.

I've had this song, and the Ice World one, stuck in my head for YEARS... I read a ton of Brawl in the Family in the past, and hearing an updated and extended version of this song genuinely sparks joy in my heart. Can't wait to see the other songs you've got cooking.

If you think about it, Kirby killing waddle-dees is really unfair. It's been explicitly stated by the game's creators that they aren't out to get Kirby, they're just hanging out / doing tasks and just happen to get in the way. The fact that they damage him is (usually) not their fault. Most of them are just having a good time, enjoying life. Kirby, the destroyer of worlds and "protector of the innocent", so called, really is just killing innocent creatures because they're in his way. At least Mario etc. have the reason that the minions are working for the enemies, but Kirby is just a menace. ...Though that won't stop me from loving him, he's such a cute li'l guy I mean look at him!

Now hear me out... A version of this song, sung by somewhere between 2 and 7 Waluigis.

I like the updated visuals! Definitely an improvement. I feel like I prefer the original audio version though. The emotions felt so much more raw in the original "Curse you spiny blue shell!" "Grab an extra screw!" (echo). The ending note of this version was really really good. I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to voice work. Maybe I just don't know how it works. Maybe I'm just nostalgic. Have an amazing day!

Listen. I did NOT ask to feel this way today. About a ReDead. The freakiest version of ReDead ever. That still haunts my darkest nightmares to this day. That I will slaughter from no distance actually being safe enough, just so it can't even THINK about opening its mouth all the way. ... ... ...getting stressed out over doing taxes. ... ... ... ... ... ...we're not so different after all. Damn... This gave me a massive wave of nostalgia. BitF was one of the few web comics I went out of my way to stay up-to-date with back in the day. The original Ode to Minions lived rent free in my head all this time, and now this rendition will slide in right next to it. Thanks for all the memories, Matt!
