Here's an idea that might be a more secure connection for some of the pieces, like underneath where the backpack will be: plastic buckles. Other than that, holy heck this looks great.
I just realized I didn't get my patterns put together for this video- is there any interest in getting the body patterns available for download? Edit: it's gonna happen, I am on the road this week, sorry for the delay!
@@swivelboiiguess6422 Well Odin Is Making A Gundam Body Unit Which Is Called A "Project". He Isn't Making A Government Funded Weapon, If He Was Then You Could Call It An "Operation" So Ironically He Is Correct (Edit: I Wonder How He Would Make The Weapons, Especially The Beam Saber)
Waterslide decals are awesome. Also, adding a little vinegar to the water will help the decals stick and also allow it to conform to irregular surfaces.
Hey, remember that one time Odin promised to continue working on a long-requested project only to bail like 99% of all the other diy channels on RU-vid? Me neither. I can't wait to see it all come together!
A little tip to eliminate static charge is to tape a bare copper wire to the part and have it touch the floor. It's annoying to work around but it works. It's a little tip I picked up when painting model cars. All the air moving across the plastic builds up a charge so metallic will actually stand up rather than lay down like they're supposed to.
Absolutely perfect. I was just bugging the crew over at Hero's Workshop to make their own Gundam suit, as they love both cosplay and Gundam builds. What Odin makes is always awesome!
In the helmet video; I looked at the helmet, then looked at Odin's head and thought: "you sure that you got the scale right Odin?" Then I assumed it was for a child. Me Wrong x2
This is probably one of your most insane builds right behind Soul Edge and the Gravity Gun, but it’s beautiful. It looks like a model kit that was supersized. I can’t wait to see the rest of the build
You are awesome you inspired me to want to be a prop designer for movies and video games thanks to you I made a prop using your pointers and it turned out great
Welp, on the last Gundam video I mentioned that I was getting the Gunpla itch. Flash forward a bit, and today I was sitting down with a Gundam marker to do some panel lining on a new kit when I noticed this upload. Huzzah!
now i know why your name is Odin, you are a god! i am attempting to make this cosplay so these videos will help immensly, thank you and keep the amazing builds coming.
Thank you very much for posting this because this will help me greatly in building my own Gundam statue that if I take the armor off certain body parts I can use like how you're using it for cosplay. I just got to figure out how to do it for the astray red frame sadly without the aid of computer assistance
The fact you're making it exactly after a RG model is impressive on it's own. You should make a mannequin so when Joe isn't wearing it you can display it and still pose it somewhat like the RG gundam.
This build has been super fun to watch! I do have a suggestion though: Just like with gunpla panel lining, you may want to try out Tamiya's Panel Line Accent paints. They run a lot thinner than their acrylic series of paint and should be better for those thin lines. They even have brown and grey for your reds and whites, respectively!
If I were gonna make a gundam for cosplay, I'd probably attach the skirts on... Like, hinges of nylon web, so that you can actually move in the skirt without putting stress directly on the velcro or the foam. Could easily be retrofit into this build by just sewing nylon webbing and velcro into the equivalent of traditional door hinges, and sandwiching them into the correct position. Just thinking out loud, though.
Since you're making the Weaponry for this you can modify one of the bladebuilders lightsabers for the beam saber and you should also make the destiny Gundams folding sword and a suggestion for doing the energy blade that supposed to sit on it do an LED strip that sitting inside a clear flexible plastic tubing that is sitting on a coiling system kind of like how the retractable dog leashes are down in the base of the handle so when you open the blade up the energy blade comes out with it and then when you pull the trigger it's active
Yes! Now all we need is the arms, legs and bad a** blaster gun! Then we're all set!!! ❤️❤️❤️ Still think it'd be cool to see you make Princess Zelda's sword from Twilight Princess, but this is still cool in the meantime! Edit: I just noticed that you included the caution labels on the panels! Too cool!
This is an awesome build! I can't wait to see the finished product! I have a suggestion for your next build. The original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Megazord, made completely out of foam, completely wearable for a Con.
Taking your "metal ruler taped to the foam idea" and converting it to knife cutting - Tape one ruler to the bottom of the desired bevel, another ruler to the top, and slide your knife blade along both rulers to cut the bevel.
That is some solid work, my friend! Getting the details right from a Real Grade isn't easy, but you nailed it. Very impressive. Can't wait to see the whole thing come together. 😁
