That's what I was gonna say all they just said after did the mission fail only means it didn't break up... So the cameras didn't break they went on about cameras and sensors allow for accurate photo taking, we can still survey the immediate area we even took a pic did I mention the cameras work? So it's a success and only for millions and millions

Things to learn from this mission: 1. Build the next lander shorter and wider (i.e., a lower center of gravity). 2. Improve the software so it can spot and avoid rocks, holes, and depressions. 3. Gain better control of the lander's velocity so it can touch down at the engineers' desired speed.

@@jeffbaker5837 I get what you're saying. But as a great example. We have gone from biplane which needed a lot of human Imput to computerized unmanned aircrafts. Computerization of these unmanned crafts were as a result of computing all the manual data to have a computer system do the job. If you're not getting where I'm going with this.. if man landed on the moon and it was done more than once why is it hard to computerize all the data collected 60yrs ago and have it computerized for a successful landing. The excuses they are giving isn't helping the situation either. If crew can forget to turn off/on switches and the mission is flagged off with a green light then clearly we are not ready to land and it proves maybe we have never made it that far either.

The instrument that calculated speed and altitude malfunctioned. They had NASA perform an extra orbit to give them time to come up with a convoluted solution that gave them a rough estimation. They knew it would miscalculate. The descent engine cut off prematurely so they dropped faster than they should have. They were also moving 2 meters a second laterally. Subsequent high res images of the spacecraft show that when they landed, one of the legs was broken completely off so that's why it is in its side. To me, the legs appear a bit dainty and for the next mission perhaps should be made more robust. The malfunction of the altitude and speed probably won't recur as no doubt that portion of hardware and software will be scrutinized. At least they can communicate to and receive comms from it. They can still get images and some of the many instrument packages onboard can still perform their experiments.

Is it possible to forcibly eject the mounted small rover and move it to a position where it can observe its surroundings ? The "switch off" ? Very hard to believe, A 5g moon rover component must cost the same as 5g of gold, right ? Such a luxury should not be allowed on a commercial aircraft ( It would be more reasonable to make it mandatory for workers to wear laser resistant sunglasses ).

Mission is successful in that the lander is positioned on moon. There could be many reasons for being toppled. In my opinion, it is like a days old baby who can only lie flat and look upwards only. Yet what is surprising to me is that I see videos telling about new data on moon revealed by lander. I wonder if it has a mind which can go out from body and wander on moon !

God I hate the annoying trend of using TTS narration, especially when there are obvious grammar errors and repetition of information. I know a lot of people have short term memory problems and have to have info repeated a number of times before it hopefully sinks in. Some basic editing, like reading aloud the script before sending it to the TTS program would highlight these issue and have the opportunity to correct before making the video public.
