Of Places North 2021: An Introduction is the first in a series of videos that explores the isolated regions of Newfoundland and Labrador. These places are mainly accessible by boat. Solitude, spectacular scenery and emotional experiences make cruising coastal regions of this province memorable. I visit places in Notre Dame Bay, Northern Peninsula, and Southern Labrador.

Man oh man! This film starts off landscapes that make your jaw drop, and then each segment just gets better and better, and then gets better again. Wow. What a province we have, there is just no other place like it. Thanks for these videos, they are impeccable.

When I was there in 1963 I spent as much time as I could on the South Bay and Burin, Marasheen, Red Island and St. Kyren's. Everything my father told me about from his youth in 1920 and 30's was still the same in the outports. I was fortunate to be able to bring some things they needed from the PX on the Navy base where I was stationed. Cap'n Rick, Port of Lewes, Delaware. My mentor was Sterling Hayden

As a Newfoundlander that left my home in the late 90´s after the codfish moratorium your films take me home. The mixture of story telling, still shots and aerial photography are done with great sensitivity.

Ed, we are hoping/planning to head this way in 2022 from Lake Ontario. At this point the plan is to go along the north shore of the St Lawrence to Red Bay or thereabouts before crossing to the island.

What a captivating video! -- Confirming my wish to sail these waters before i die. Do you ever need crew? My efforts to find a sailboat charter in Newfoundland have so far come to naught, alas. Any ideas would be much appreciated! Gratefully, Walter

Ed, was that a French Graveyard in St. Juliens?

Actually, whAT I COULD SEE OF THE NAMES - IT was mainly Irish. The Irish and English looked after the French fishing premises in the winter and generally lived year round. There maybe French there too though!!
