This is a typical day in our lives living in our self built off grid cabin. These are the daily chores we have to do to thrive off the grid. #offgrid #cabin #homesteading
Probably the best Ryan's ru-vid.comUgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY2_1 Plans on building a shed is hardly ever found. And Ryan takes the mystery out of different types of foundation options, etc. He even shows how to build a shed with different designs. Very comprehensive, covering different roofing materials, siding, etc.
Looks awesome Kyle you definitely need to build A roof over your front porch . You’ll track less snow and mud into the house. It will be a nice place to sit in spring summer and fall. Overall you’re doing a fantastic job!
If he encloses the front porch (or at least the part around the door) it will also act as a dead air space for the door and make heating the house easier. But, I live on the prairie. Blocking the wind is maybe not as important in the woods.
I agree he has mentioned it in past videos. It is such a quick & fairly easy project that they would reap the benefits right away. If Kyle had all the materials it would be a 3 day project being he needs camera set up time. Especially the way he gets after it!
You live the same life my wife and I live and at 60 years old i would not want to live any other way, we are in NW Montana and living large. Keep after it, it's the best way to live. I watch your progress all the time !
Everyone seems to have a better idea on how you should live, but I think you are doing great. Keep up the good work. You are not afraid to work, that's for sure. Good to see you guys keeping on.
Time to build a small generator room with vented exhaust. It will keep the elements off, and deaden the sound. You can store your gas and funnel in there as well
I am so jealous! It is so good to watch you live the quiet, lazy life of off grid. lol Did you ever get a chance to relax in front of the stove that you were feeding? I would love to live the life you have but realize at 80 it would be a little "tough" on me. Unless I could hire somebody to do all the work. I really appreciate how you take care of things, especially the chickens. It is so fun to watch the "girls". It is surprising how social they are. So many personalities. And then there is Skeeter!! The perpetual 3 yr old. I just love him. It is obvious that he loves his family. It is a wonderful thing to be loved by a dog, very special.
Been here since beginning. Amazing to see you guys inside the build. So much hard work. And y’all made the right choice keeping the channel name. Will keep exploding. Happy for you two. D😎🇺🇸
RU-vid will be sending you that 100,000 subscriber plaque soon. We enjoy all of Cierra and your downloads and always look forward to the next adventure. Congrats and stay warm.
I love the way you guys live you are young and you using what's out there and you making it work I love the way you take care of your chickens feed the birds take care of your dog you take care of your girlfriend you are a good young man I wish we had more like you out there in this world especially USA
Me and two other families own a cabin in Southwest Washington by Mount St Helens. We do several hunting trips /winter trips. We hate the snow and the pine needles from our boots getting in the cabin so we cut out a portion of our Deck right in front of the door with a steel grate open to the ground it works awesome just kick your boots one or two times per foot most things fall right through the deck. Just thought you might want to know! You can get all kinds of stuff from a gravel pit ask him if they have some old screens either that or go to a metal recycling yard you can find some steel grate there still great it's better than steel screen. Stronger.
Big congratulations to you Kyle. 100k subs is a grind. Some are lucky and do it overnight ... others put in the determined, hard work. You earned them like a champ. Here's to your next 100. Jay.
The forest has not served as a source of inspiration for them for a long time. They got lost in the labyrinths of the city. Drowned in work to spend money on entertainment and useless things. Started a race for a better life. And that's when the joy was gone.
Hi! Well even with a snow storm there are essential things to do like the wood for heat seeing the temperature is going that low. The chickens are doing are producing a lot off eggs .They seem to be doing very well this winter. Interesting way to take a shower. Love the video and looking forward to the next.(Judy NB)🌲🇨🇦❄️
I love your video's Kyle! I love seeing life in Northern Minnesota! I was thinking, while watching you start up your Predictor, that you could easily build a small shed over your Generator outside hookup, this spring or summer. It wouldn't take much to build one and it would be alot easier for you. Skeeter is the best, and smart too! Nice of you to play with him so that he can get some exercise too.
Hi Kyle, I just wanted to say that I also enjoy videos like this, just you showing us your lives. Even if you are chilling, cooking, barbeque, feeding the chickens, chopping wood, and turning snow to water. It's very nice to watch. I'm watching this video and most of your other videos more than once. Love this channel. God bless!
Are you able to drive out when there's that much snow on the ground or do you have to anticipate being snowed in for long periods of time? Like making sure you have certain essentials stockpiled. Also how do you manage storing gas to run the inverter to charge the batteries when need be ?
Love how you stack wood in your arms and still can throw the ball for the Skeeter Man. LOL! I have started doing the wood like you do with that one upright piece. Take care stay warm you three. Greetings from the GFT.
Snow - have not had much of that this winter, but yesterday on the 22nd, we had thunder, hail, sleet, rain, freezing rain, and a snow flurry! All hard surfaces were covered in about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ice this AM. Managed to get the sidewalks cleared down to bare pavement, but the driveway is sketchy, and especially in front of the overhead door. Salt is barely effective, will have to put down more tomorrow and chip away with the ice chopper again. I can walk on it, but my wife cannot, due to mobility issues/safety. Just wondering why you don't shovel off your steps and porch area in front of the door? I enjoy watching you two young folks livin' the dream!
Skeeter is the most patient dog. Mine would have been shouting at me for ignoring her or worse gone off in a huff because I was doing something else other than throwing her ball. Thanks for another great video, at least you didn’t get in trouble for swearing in this one Kyle. Best wishes from Northumberland.
Io non sopporto chi fa certe cose ai cani e poi mette le casette per gli uccellini e accudisce le galline ... Credo che lasciare il cane all'esterno sotto una nevicata sia da disumani. Il resto del filmato si rovina ...
@@giorgiodagnino4435, they don’t leave Skeeter out all the time. If you watch other video you can see how much the love him. You can also tell that Skeeter loves being outside by the way he runs and plays with that ball of his. Skeeter even has boots he wears outside. And I bet he was happy to go see those chickens because he loves them. He is a very well taken care of dog.
The forest has not served as a source of inspiration for them for a long time. They got lost in the labyrinths of the city. Drowned in work to spend money on entertainment and useless things. Started a race for a better life. And that's when the joy was gone.
We just love your channel. Skeeter is such an amazing dog. He is loved for sure. He LOVES his ball no doubt. We got bets the chickens may be coming inside for a few nights. :)
Oh my gosh. I am so jealous of your gas can lol. I know that’s probably kind of strange, but my husband and I have been looking for one of those for ages! All these plastic ones are terrible and leak every time we have to fill our generator. It’s really nice seeing people our age doing something similar as us. Keep it up! You guys are awesome!
Just found your channel but I look forward to going back and watching the build. This is something I want to do so badly!! I do not have this skill set but feel like if you want it bad enough you will figure it out!! Great job!! You two are an inspiration!!
You are exactly right! It is not rocket science to live this way just he’s work. If you want it you can absolutely make it a reality. I am nobody special. I’m self taught and learned most things the hard way. You can do it.
Great video. Simple and just day by day life. Cold life that is. Luv the fact even when working you still have time for you number one fan, SKEETER. Luv that dog.
Great video, first time. Beautiful Springer spaniel !! he looks exactly like my Springer "Augie"!! Had him for 14 years & it broke my heart when he passed ! Chas.,SC
. 🙋🏻♂️🤔 Just an idea Kyle 🤔 next time in town grab some old pallets , build a fire pit. With a big big pot. With a fire burning all the time. 💪🏻😮🤷🏻♂️Just an idea ❤️❤️✌️
John 15:9-10 King James Version 9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. 10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
It may be time to think about building a shed for the generator. (And maybe a generator that produces enough power to charge both systems simultaneously.) Since you already have propane, have you ever thought about a dual fuel generator?
New subscriber , nice video. Thanks. I can tell your a very hard worker , but please shovel your front porch , I worry bout creating hazardous condition. Slipping on ice …. Keep bringing awesome videos. Thanks. Craig. Pa.
Good job! Awesome videos. We went through the same storm here in Northern Minnesota. Haven’t had over 24 hour of snow fall for quite a few years. Spring is just around the corner.
Great video Kyle Skeeter is the best pup Waits on you to throw his ball Chickens look so good Didn't think about chickens likening snow Cierra always makes me hungry when she cooks All of you are living a great life Take care in the cold weather See you all in next video
hey man, as a heads up to a fellow bird owner... look into deep bedding for chickens. its amazing for the winter, keeps them warm, great compost in the spring, and you don't have to clean it at all until spring/ warmer months.
you are getting close to 100k subscribers, Kyle1 Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. I've been watching your videos since very early in your journey. Just keep on doing what you are doing; your sincerity rings true!
Thanks for the video Kyle! I’m just east of you right now in my summer cabin on an island in Lake Vermilion. You do A great job showing what’s it’s like here but I’ll be going back home to California next week. I love the winter solitude here! Thanks
I could not handle all of that work just to take a shower. Why not use a propane water heater? And what do you do during the rest of the year when there isn’t snow? I can’t imagine downspouts doing rain collection being enough. Beautiful place and my hats off to you for all of your hard work and living off grid!
Congratulations, Kyle, on 100k subscribers. I'm so excited for you, Ceirra and Skeeter. Your content is very good, and I can't get enough of it. Every video you put out is interesting and entertaining. 👏👏👏👏🙏
Yes build a roof over front porch . U both need to get another portable charger. Cut lots for next winter stock up big time .warmer weather next mid week let's go blue Jay's!! Play ball .Richmond hill ontario Canada 🇨🇦. Cold as well again with wind chill - 19 !! Thanks again guys
It is so peaceful and beautiful to see you collecting the wood for your fire. You are a lovely couple. Thank you for sharing your lives. It is inspirational
Relaxing? I'm not sure if sub zero temperatures, forging a path in 2' of snow, melting snow for water on the stove, gathering and chopping dead wood for firewood, and collecting eggs and putting out bedding for the chickens qualifies as "relaxing"... lol 😆 Love what you're doing ❤️
Hi you guys.. I live in the neighboring state to the south. We just had a ice storm, now on Thursday their projecting more snow. Not sure about you two but I'm kinda getting tired of it. Can't wait having fires in the firepit this summer. I thoroughly enjoy both of you two's channels..
Kyle is your solar 12 or 24 volt ?? And what type of solar generator is that. It sounds like it would be great for our place in middle Tn. Thanks for another great video.
Skeeter is so adorable, he loves to play & i laugh @ all his bunny hops. I enjoy watching & admire how determined both of you are to achieve your goals. It has inspired me to look @ different options to want for items, ex. We now utilize rain water in buckets for our gardens. As a kid I hated my father camp life as it was no running anything & now i realize there are so many more options for running electricity, water into the camp. Thank you for sharing your journey, its awesome to see from start to finish all all new projects.
Hello Kyle! I'm also in northern Minnesota with the snow and cold! I'm not off-grid like you but wish I was sometimes. I waste most of my daytime shoveling snow away from our house and off the driveway and walkways on our lot. If I go off-grid maybe I can just focus on the necessary things like you. Of course we still have the responsibility of getting to our job. You know, the work we do for someone else. You have a much simpler lifestyle. A lot less to worry about and more enjoyment with the work you put into it. Live on and take care of yourself and Cierra. Skeeter keeps busy with his own projects. lol!
Awesome video your wife on the couch all in a blanket warm I would not even get out of it LOL but I know you got to eat so I would get up to cook and get everything done and then I would get right back in there . Hugs for everyone stay warm and safe. ❤️ 💞❤️❤️
