Off-Road Motorcycle Tires TUBE vs TUBELESS: WHICH IS BETTER?

Off-road motorcycle tires can be divided into two categories: tube and tubeless. Each type has its own set of advantages and disadvantages, and choosing the right one depends on your specific needs and preferences.
Tube tires have been around for the longest time and are the conventional type of off-road motorcycle tires. They require an inner tube to hold air, which is placed inside the tire and attached to the rim. Tube tires are generally cheaper than tubeless tires, easier to repair, and more resistant to punctures because the tube provides an extra layer of protection. However, they are also more prone to pinch flats, which occur when the tube is pinched between the tire and rim during a hard impact. Furthermore, the inner tube can become damaged or punctured, causing air to leak out and leaving you stranded.
Tubeless tires, on the other hand, do not require an inner tube and are designed to seal themselves if punctured. They have a special coating on the inside of the tire that seals any punctures instantly, preventing air from leaking out. This means that even if you get a small puncture, you can continue to ride without having to stop and fix it. Tubeless tires are also less prone to pinch flats because they do not have an inner tube, and they offer better traction and handling because they can be run at lower pressures. However, they are generally more expensive than tube tires, and repairing a puncture can be more challenging if the sealant does not work.
In summary, tube tires are cost-effective and provide better protection against punctures but are more prone to pinch flats and require an inner tube. Tubeless tires are more expensive but offer better traction and handling, are less prone to pinch flats and punctures, and do not require an inner tube. Ultimately, the choice between tube and tubeless tires comes down to personal preference and the type of riding you will be doing.

You dont get pinch flats if you run the recommended pressure. What happens with a tubeless system when you get a gash in your tire? I'm guessing a plug won't fix that.

That’s true, but if you follow the recommended pressure you will lost the joy of riding, try one time, when you enter on your next off-road path reduce the pressure a little and ride, you will discover a new world of emotions😁🤩👍. About plug in the tire I’ve quite ready a video where I made a hole on the tire in the middle of no where and I come back safe at home with the plug, but I know how to apply it properly 😉

@WheelsAndRoads101 for me if you want an ADV motorcycle the best one for off road is Yamaha Tenere and KTM 890 but the rally version. But if you want just enjoy off road desert a 450 doesn’t matter the brand. Let me know what do you choose!

One question, how can you ride with low pressure with a tubeless, is possible???
@Karibo969
@Karibo969 Год назад
It depend from the bike you are using, with an enduro as KTM EXC with tubeless rim and tubeless tire you can ride also 15PSI or less with an ADV not less than 20PSI because due the weight of the bike you can damage the rim

TL senza dubbio su moto da 150 fino a 250 kg nel cross forse è meglio il classico o almeno io lo preferisco Ciao Marco , saluti allo Chef Luca (AT nera)

I have some doubt about puncture in tubeless system 🤔

Right but consider that a puncture in tubeless tires can be repaired in five minutes without dismounting the wheel!

@Karibo969 a simple puncture yes but what happens if you get a tear or gash? If you're on the trail, you're effed.

You should. They're a gimmick. Everyone seems to gloss over gashes or tears, which on a tube can be fixed with a patch or replacement tube.

@GrizzlyDaddams! If you happen to fall and damage the clutch cover, don't worry too much. It's something that can happen. In the case of a tubeless tire, if you're on a trip, you can use tire patches and a tube, along with two tire levers, to fix it. I once managed to fix a tire using a can of RB and a tube, in extreme cases you need to be creative

Having an AT1100 with tubes, I don't care! I'm not going hard core off road, just gravel tracks and green lanes! When it comes to a flat, I'll leave that for the breakdown cover! A flat is a flat! Only advise I can give, always carry spare innertubes so the repair can be done there and then!

I agree with you on one hand but tubeless tire can be repaired in five minutes and without dismount the wheel

@@Karibo969 true! The repair kits aren't expensive either! I'm not hard core adventuring,just the odd gravel track and green lane! In 32 years I've had 1 rear puncture, I'll take my chances😅👍

When I repair my tubed tires, by taking them off and replacing the $20 inner tube, they remain fixed. I didn't just sweat my balls off on the side of the road in order to temporarily patch my tires so that they'll make it to a shop, where I'll have the privilege of spending $250.

You are somewhat right, but think about what you do if you have a puncture in your car. You repair it, and that’s it. It’s not temporary. If it’s well done and costs 2 USD, it can last. I have a repaired tire on my Africa Twin, and it works perfectly, and I even made the hole with a drill for demonstration.
