Born in the late 19th century, Brennen was an immensely popular character actor in the late 1930s and early 40s in particular. He was a master of his craft who was awarded three Academy Awards for best-supporting actor for his roles in 1936s Get It, 1938s Kentucky, and 1940s The Westerner.
Seeing as how Brannon was once considered to be a legend of the silver screen, it really begs the question - how is it possible for an actor to win three Academy Awards in a period of five years and then end up being all but forgotten about?
