Some of you will get out alive Don't move at all because I promised you all your scars Will be worth all your loss You've taken the fall To save your skin We've stymied them all These precious nailed sins They sting 'cause we are We are strong The freedom comes when this anthem is sung The fates come undone 'Cause we have switched the lights on We've exposed their friends-in-arms Now we stand as one at the end If we are the last few, Who will be the first one to lead us? If we are the last few Will I feel alive? Once chance to prove there's some things that can lead us To new life, new life That alone I can lead us New life, new life New life, new life If we are the last few, Now we're alone and can need it If we are the last few New life, new life New life, new life
I have no idea why so many fans don't like this album! I mean what the actual fuck! It's certainly a grower.. but what kind of fan are you if you cant accept the change of style/sound of a band?!
Totally true. People dont give it time. Sound Awake and Themata were definitely catchier than Asymmetry. But heck, this one is fucking genius. It grows on you and never leaves you :)
the way i see it, Themata is a hook, sound awake is a lure, assymetry is a thinker... in mho, karnivool has evolved at the rate it ought to. meaning I agree, this is fucking amazing album
[Verse 1] Some of you will get out alive Though you'll bear all the cost I promised you all your scars Will be worth all your loss We've taken the fall To save your skin We've stomached them all These precious medicines Sick as we are We are strong [Verse 2] Now freedom comes When this anthem is sung When the fakes come undone 'cause we have switched the lights on We've exposed our friends in arms Now we stand as one at the end [Chorus 1] If we are the last few Who'll be the first one to lead us? If we are the last few New life, new life One chance to prove We are so fiercely committed To new life, new life We're alone and committed New life, new life New life, new life [Chorus 2] If we are the last few Now we're alone and committed We are the last few New life, new life New life, new life
awesome recording... in case of video and audio! how did you record this? was this one shot or did you compare and synched a few? (song reference right there!) and i see no mics! but vocals and guitars sound so clear... how did you do that? ;)
Hahaa...11 months have passed but heres the answer finally :) It was one take and all the guys are using wireless microphones. Mics are hidden in their clothes somewhere above their instruments. That seems like the best place for those when you have to record also the vocals.
So when they play this live with electric guitars, Drew uses a PRS Mike Mushok baritone. Here's part of an article where they discussed using baritones in the later material (i.e this song and it seems like a bunch of stuff off the new unreleased album): "We’ve also been messing around with a lot of baritone stuff as well which is getting down to your G and F sharp. I’ve got a 6 string baritone with a 74 on the bottom and the tuning is GDGGDF, which has got an octave jump between the 3rd and 4th string. A lot of the time Hoss and I will be in alternate tuning to each other, we’re in slightly different registers, especially with the baritone stuff. There are a couple of songs where I’m down in G and he’s up in B and playing different inversions." In this song, that low G (like a drop G) is definitely the lowest guitar note. My only question is whether those 2 highest strings (D and F) carry on from the highest G of the octave split or from the lowest. Here's how I've visualised the two possibilities in terms of octave registers: G1 D2 G2 G3 D4 F4 (where the F is a half step higher than the high E of a standard tuning) Or G1 D2 G2 G3 D3 F3 (where the G3 is the only string tuned up to a higher register to get some weird split octave chord shapes)
