The suffering of barns from people like Joerg is just unbearable. If you feel the same please donate to the Barns Welfare Fund and make a difference in this cruel world.
I've never been particularly interested in slingshots and crossbows, bus Joerg can present it with such a passion and that amazing laughter of his. It's really great and interesting.
Dave Here I remember laying down on my back and using both feet and both hands and giant office rubberbands! Then with all my might I shot that piece of paper at the gym class bully and nailed him straight in the 'nads!
I remember when me and my friends collaborated to make a crossbow out of pen parts and an empth pen cartridge as an arrow. It was technically illegal seeing as how it travelled through the barrel for added stability. It stuck in the partitioning that separates classrooms, and even drew blood. I also made short bows out of greenwood branches lying around the school grounds, and caught the attention of my physics teacher. Honestly though, those project were inspired by Joerg himself.
I really respect that you upload all your videos straight into the public domain. Can't believe that the media tried to demonize a man with a hobby and his own morals.
The German Macgyver. I think you have done home made weapons for zombie apocalypse stuff before. This is actually a neat idea because you can scale it. Would love to see more complicated contraptions from stuff you would find salvaging offices, homes, and the like. Just like any survival game. Can loot a gun? Then make something. Would love to see you make ammo out of things. Like a pencil with a razor for a tip as a home made crossbow bolt or something.
I would have to agree that would be really interesting imagine him on a survival show much like how MythBusters did survival with only a shitton of duct tape he does survival only with a shitton of various kinds of rubber and a survival knife he would build very interesting looking things I think if he used it right he could probably even also made a lot of the stuff he uses if he had enough wood on a very densely wooded area had be able to create a sort of arm reaching into the sea it would take very long to build but once you did it he could get a sort of wave generator pulling and pushing rubber bands not only creating heat but if you would attach those rubber bands to something it would most likely functions like a piston which would allow him to do a surprising amount of things for example a hydraulic press or something
Joerg, you are a geniusand you have a very good way of putting a message across along with that you also have one hell of a sense of humour. I love your stuff
Never had any intention to make any of these, I just love the creativity and knowledge it takes to build things. Even better how much he loves doing it
Great old school Joerg video. I wish Patreon had a one time donation feature. That way those of us that dont always have the spare cash for monthly donations could at least toss in some cash when we do. Thanks again Joerg. Still hoping for build plans, if they're worth your time to sell them! ;)
Ok watched the video now and I loved it, got the intro and outro back and was shtf related which made it even more interesting, been waiting for SHTF on the channel for a long time. Great idea!
Joerg, I was all set to build a 'Furious Firefly' but this SHTF is right up my alley. Thank you for the very important tip about not letting the rubber bands rub against one another; friction is not our friend! Mine will have to be 500cm or longer to meet Canadian laws but that doesn't look like yours is much shorter than that if any.
I remember making what we called ped-guns (others call them peg-guns), a plank or straight stick with a clothes peg at one end and a shed-load of rubber bands tied together looped over the other end (with the coil from a clothes peg attached so you got some weight). All made with rubber bands and wood available to a 12-year-old. Made one with something like 20+ rubber bands that had enough power to take out a rat. I think that monster would fire an arrow powerfully enough to at least annoy a zombie.
I enjoy all your videos, but I ‘m always extra intrigued when you briefly show the trigger mechanism of the crossbows you build. I hope you’ll one day make a video just about trigger mechanisms. I would find that extremely interesting.
Thanks Joerg. You are in the right business. You think of so many concepts other people, me included, say "why didn't I think of that?" But we don't. Thanks for so many ingenious ideas. What's next? The lawn grass 500 fps spinning crossblade?
I know what you mean ;-))....
Brought back memories from grade school when u were shooting the folded piece of paper with the rubber band (we called em hornets). I got in trouble so many times.
@@KenMabie I understodd that. I just meant, if he can make a video about putting condoms on without problems, a video like you proposed wouldn't give him any problems either.
When I was a kid and all my armerments where DIY for the rubber powered stuff the best thing I found to use was old bicycle intertubes that wouldn't hold air anymore but we're nice strong stretchy rubber in nice big pieces. I imagine it would also be a good option for a SHTF situation for building an improvised defensive rubber powered solution.
i used to loop these rubberbands (fold each band double, and make a chain of locking U shapes) together in my slingshots as a kid, i didnt tie them up like you did. Never really had problems with them breaking. Was powerful enough to kill a seagull about 40 meters away.
I would probably choose a ballista mechanism in a survival situation because it's easier to find or make ropes out of natural fibers than to make a proper wood bow or find rubberbands
hallo jörg, schön das du das altbekannte intro wieder verwendest. toll, das du aus deinen damaligen fehler gelernt hast, war ja aber auch sehr schmerzhaft nur beim zusehen. sicherheit geht vor. mach weiter so, tolles video.
