The new designs are amazing, and Joerg is without doubt a genius, but I'm thinking that we can actually hear how powerful the devices are by the time between firing and hitting the target. We obviously can't do that with any accuracy just from the sound, but I am sure we can get a pretty good idea. So getting to the point, it seemed to me that the first arrow firing catapult Joerg showed us was the most powerful. There is barely any time between release and impacting the target.
That 3 foot rubber band stretched out to his eye worries me! If you break the top rubber band, it could prove painful when it slaps you in the face! Maybe a small shield to keep that from happening would make me feel better?
Love it. Design fails and hurts finger. Jörg just goes "Ow!" and proceeds to examine the damages of the DEVICE, studies it for a brief moment and within a single shot, explains what happened and how to improve upon it. That's some next level engineering.
Not trying to olay off his engineering prowess. But to be fair, with as much experience as he has had with his plywood monstrosities, he has probably run into the same set of issues hundreds of times throughout the countless prototypes hes made.
To be honest, that first thing I thought, when I saw that design, was that it was a potential thumb pincher. Wasn't expecting it to happen on camera though lol
I can picture Joerg in the early days of the US space program, shooting astronuts into outer space with rubber bands and shouting let me show you its features.
I saw a video about a German gun that was designed to fire caseless ammunition, I think it was called the G11. The video was titled "Krout Space Magic". It's on the forgotten weapons RU-vid channel. My dad was stationed in Germany for several years and is where one of my sisters was born, I still get a chuckle out of how the world perceives German inventors... mainly because it's true.
Duggy Dugg wouldn’t that be great but, Joerg would make a fantastic enemy, he doesn’t need millions to build weapons, just a shed, saw, roll of strong elastic and a few 8x4 sheets of ply board 😉😊
Marc’s Fx 007... I shall need a small cross bow ..no protruding limbs.. non metallic that won't trigger the detector .. curare tipped bolts yerg as Q. roll up your sleeve
Marc's Fx: Well in the Distant Future we may look back and say that, or realise it was all an evolutionary dead end. lol.. What might have been, if only humanity had created elastic powered weapons. (jk - ballista - hybrid combination of "elastic arms" and tensioned fibre springs)
Joerg is honestly such an inspiration to me as an engineer. Most youtubers would have stopped at the first folding-rubber-instant-legolas and kept the video at the same length but this guy goes above and beyond because he has the genius, talent and passion to do so. The last of which is incredibly infectious and makes me want to further my own projects with a similar level. Thank you for your amazing videos and wonderfully cheerful chuckle Joerg.
Jeorg: I know what you're thinking: "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I've kinda lost track myself. But being this is a .folding-rubber-powered-sliding-instant-Legolas, the most powerful sling bow in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do you, punk?
@@bonafidetom52 I would love to hear Jeorg say it. Someone needs to put his face over Eastwood's in that Dirty Harry clip. I'm sure Clint would not object.
And after that you have to take it to steambow so you can sell me one the slingshot channel is becoming the shut up and take my money channel for me really fast.
@@othertipo might also be a very cool project, though it would be even cooler if he made an instant legolas system to it, adding it's own little joerg sprave touch to it
I wish I had the cash to fork out for an Adder, I sure have lots of time on my hands. Good thing it's forever out of stock so I can't be tempted regardless.
You are a great teacher joerg and very generous in sharing your time and energy for entertainment and hive knowledge. Wishing you and your loved ones the best. You are a natural 'mechanic'. My favourite kind.
Everbody else on RU-vid: "OMG don't even say coronavirus or mention weapons you'll get demonetized!!" Jeorge: "Let me show you the ASSAULT SLINGBOW Lance REpeater HAHAHAHA"
@@matthewbarraclough6363 Did he ever do YT for a living? I heard he was retired and sorta just did it for fun and side money. He's definetely not making any ad revenue for most of his videos.
@@jakemakes he quit his job as a midlevel manager and was living from yt a bot over a year till adpocalypse hit hard. Now he is a midlevel manager again and does yt for fun again. Additionally, he sells things on his website and leads the youtubers union.
10:41 He has solutions for problems, before they even occur... Btw, I really like, that I don't get a double notification for your premieres. Please keep that up! :)
All the time, I asked myself what these stiff "bow arms" are for, if they do NOTHING functional in terms of building tension during the draw. But as always, out ingenious inventor found that too and eleminated all the unnecessary bulk, just to replace it with some "new features". :-) Great work!
Add a downward grip post (as you've done in the past) to the end of the far end of the slide / receiver to allow your awesome one handed draw power retention. This would require a long slot (length of draw) in the new fork feature to accommodate the new grip post, and the fork would need to be extended maybe 5 - 6 cm past the far end of the slide when relaxed. The fork slot would be closed / bridged at the far end for strength & stability.
Oh man, the slow motion at 14:00, the perfect arm allignment - right elbow draw to the left hand straight stretch. You truly are the most professional Bow and Arrow shooter. And look at the stability and straight arm formation while reloading, not a bit of slight misalignment even on slow motion. Perfect. You really are the best.
I think you could reduce the length of the slingbow by adding a gear and rack system with two sliders (one for the arrow and one for the fork, so that as you draw the arrow back, the mounting point of the rubber is pushed forward by the same amount. This would let you keep the same draw length, but effectively halve the total uncocked length at the expense of some height. Always nice to see your videos! Keep it up!
Another brilliant invention from my favourite inventor and engineer! You've done it again Joerg 👍🙂. Question: Would it be possible to have a hinge on the barrel in front of the stock, so to fold it together and make it easier to transport?
@@Slingshotchannel compared to a regular bow I don't think it's more compact. But it is similar size and has the instant Legolas, that definitively makes a regular bow more bulky
@@Slingshotchannel You could also make the front part of the barrel / sled foldable by just cutting it und attaching a hinge on one side and a locking mechanism on the other side, couldnt you? That would make it a little bit more compact for transport :)
2 sliding diagonal braces. Much like a tilt-out window pane or casement hinge, perhaps slightly bulkier but could be tweeked. Thank You for the time you take to do all this and inspire other people. So cool your design is. .. ¡Tschuss!
Joerg I’ve been a subscriber for years and love your channel. I am an archer, both target and long bow, I have witnessed limb failure, and other than being very scary it vary rarely results in injury. Please be careful the rubber doesn’t snap and hit you in the eye.
Joseg you have such a tremendous engineering mind I just love watching your videos you are so much fun the best laugh on RU-vid thank you for The great videos from America
@@lkfh1 yeah a magazine with steel balls sure could hold more shots huh. but harder to go pick up your steel balls out of the home invaders than some arrows xD
This is a great development in terms of moving the sling anchors away from the body to build more tension , and thus more power; and there is still the potential to move the anchors further ahead, by using a sliding system to that triangular base to extend it a couple feet further away to shoot, but contract it again to pack it after use. Nice going, keep up the good work Joerg.
Im just so intriiged about this. And as engineer myself I just love this mans attitude and aproach to fysics and really just matenmathics so theoretical and he makes then really easy to dissect and have the learning prosess that he is having. Thank you for this!
I'd love to see a verison of this converted into a walking stick or cane. Not in any way that would conceal it's nature, but in a way you could use it as a brace when you're not using it as a slingbow.. Would be very steampunk-esque, but I could also see a full-length walking stick version being great for hiking trips or hunting!
Joerge i hope you are getting compensated by any company using your ideas.Actially they would be fools not to have you on their payroll the ideas you have seem endless
This thing is dangerously close to being a repeating speargun for divers. The strings connected to the spears would be a fun engineering problem to solve. Draw Assist, larger magazine (it's on the outside now), add the forehandle. Then maybe you need a trigger for one handed firing while diving. Fascinating.
Yep. That's what I was getting at. A few refinements yet to come, no doubt. I reckon it could be made into basically a TUBE. Like a scuba speargun. Since the rubber attachment points need to stand out a bit, how about some little "limbs" that pivot out only when the full draw tension is applied? Also the LENGTH could be telescoped down for storage. Thanks for sharing your creative process Georg!
just watched the pyrocynical video about the msm its pretty old and im really happy your still here cuz im really REALLY intrested in your channel so you got a new sub!
Thanks Joerg! Another awesome video to brighten the day :) would be awesome to have a workshop tour video to see behind the scenes of how you produce all these amazing creations. Sitting here in my shed in lockdown making mini bow and arrow out of hazel we coppiced for my 3 year old to try in the garden. miles away from your masterpieces but enjoying it non the less.
Joerg, I actually built a very pretty sling bow similar to yours and even inlaid brass into the plywood made from laminated oak. Trouble is, I am a little 150 pound retired mathematician and 62 pounds is far more than I can draw with a release. I had to drop it to 20 pounds and make my own very long thin arrows to get it to fit this old man.
I would buy ALL of your inventions😍. This bow, alltough there is a completely different technique inside, reminds me of the the crossbow silhouette you present in a previous video.
I don't know if Joerg is going to see this, but i think that this is just amazing! Congratulations! This is the prototype transforming and having a lot of new iterations and each time making improvements. Now becoming something more polished and actually putting out new designs of a tool that was created thousands of years ago. I'm impressed.
Awesome video buddy. I'm definitely going to build this one when it warms up more outside. The one at the end, what a totally great idea. I'm saving these videos in a folder that I plan to build this spring. Anything made if wood, is down my alley. An I love how you are also aware of the trees by only wanting to take from nature what it gives us and not killing alive healthy trees that keep us breathing by making oxygen for us. Please don't shoot saw blades at the trees buddy, on different videos, that leaves scars on them and hundreds of years from now it will still be there and seen. Thanks for great ideas an stay safe and healthy. We are only stewards of this land and the land will be here millions of years after we are gone. I hope everybody that reads this can understand that. And remember love is the most powerful energy in our universe. God bless us All.
This has to be your best MASTERPIECE period. I will defiantly make me one soon. Thank you for all the designing and engineering work you did for us all. Do you think that using female birch tree instead of birch plywood would be a stronger material to use ??? Thanks again and peace too. VF
U should make it fully automatic with the drill and then put a larger magazine and make it a shoulder firing automatic sling bow :) I think you are absolutely brilliant and you are changing the world of ARCHERY and bringing it to the 20th century in a brilliant but still simple way and you are not receiving the attention you truly deserve THANK YOU for your outside of the box brilliance
You could possibly make a locking system for the slide when it’s fully cocked then use the notches connected to the bands on the butt of the “toy” to hit a button or little switch that releases the slide from a locked position after it is shot. Just a thought! Been a fan for 7 years! This my first time commenting
In the movie “the shadow” with alic Baldwin the Mongolians had pump action crossbows with folding limbs and rotating arrow magazines. This made me think of that.
Hi Joerg, been loving your work and the channel for many years now. I had a thought about an adaption to the assisted Legolas after watching the WC roll launcher. Watching you pull the extra bands to increase the draw weight I wondered if you could design a double assisted Legolas? Where you push forward to load and when the bow reaches neutral assisted balance, a second 'assistance' locks in and a second push forward engages it. So who the bow is pulled back, most of the strain is taken on the assists? Then you could fire extreme draw weight bows. I look forward the next episode. Keep up the good work.
love the forward arm final product! it was genius! solved several problems of the first one. Think of this, had the first one not failed, you may still be using one with multiple limitations. Sometimes the failure is what creates the success!
