Yup, that's a great workaround. Since I'm using both of my outputs a lot of times I'll just leave my supersource in program and get my supersource record that way. If i'm switching it live I don't really worry about it... Mistakes do cost you in editing without that backup ss record though.
Can I ask someone who has an atem mini pro extreme to test this for me ? As on holidays and would love to know if this works, or alternatively I will buy a atem mini and do the chroma in that and bring it into another source ?
Great series of videos. I normally connect my laptop (that is running Zoom) to the ATEM mini pro to via USB-C but I am not sure how I would connect a SSD to the switcher so I can record the individual feeds. Do you have any suggestions or point me to a good resource for more information? Would I need to connect it to a hyperdeck via ethernet?
Those are used for zoom capture. Meaning I join the zoom meeting with those laptops and pin individual feeds to the atem extreme which gives me full screen feeds of each zoom participant. One is an i7 macbook pro. The other 2 are just hp laptops... not sure which ones, but that's simply because we do not have unlimited macbook pros.
I've done some more research on the ultra studio 4k option you included in the work flow. Give that i'm using a PC and not a mac I think it would be better if I used the BMD "DeckLink 8K Pro"
Just wondering what your take is on the new hyperdecks and if it is now something that can effectively replace the ultrastudio in your setup to work with propresenter ?
It is possible... I could do a screenshare then only use my primary zoom windows for pins. Currently the only capture device is the extreme so if it was a live show where I needed to be hitting que's and playing back video the best solution would be to add another capture device. But this setup really isn't built for that currently. I would use our main system for that. Whereas, this setup is mostly just to be able to do recordings from my office and easy, 1-person, shows. So if someone needs a slide deck I just use the mac mini and the atem extreme for capture.
We use the samsung T5's amzn.to/2QzxTvN -- I haven't had any problems recording with it yet. Been using the same ones with the atem minis for a while and never had an issue.
Love the video. With your transition pack , is there a way to have a source like camera 1 which is showing a green screen background and using chroma key have media player 1 as the background come through to supersource without dropping the chroma key. Seems to work fine until I choose supersource . Any tips for a newbie or video to help. In summary I want to have me with a green screen but using media image as background in the supersource and the other screen being PowerPoint ? Thanks in advance for your help
Honestly, the easiest solution in my opinion would be to build your chroma key in an atem mini and send that feed to your extreme. Understandably, not everyone has extra atem minis lying around - but you would be able to easily do this with the base model that is only $300. The other "free" solution would involve creating some extensive macros and would be virtually impossible to make work with our transitions. So to answer your question, you can't have a chroma key as a source in your supersource, aside from stacking an atem mini like I mentioned above.
@@A2ZProductions thanks so much for your reply, I just sold my atem mini pro iso on marketplace , but buying another mini is ok option too. Which would you suggest between this and the other option offered to use second output and bring it back into another source , would this work? Have you tested both options ? I only ask as I don’t have another mini at the moment and on holidays for a week and not near my extreme, if you have 5 mins to test and let me know with your massive experience an opinion I would really appreciate it and then I can source a new mini prior to my return or use the other option . @@michaelkeenan2658 I have not tried that before. I've certainly looped feeds back into switchers before and that's a good solution for some situations. To make it work with just the extreme sounds like you'd be giving up a lot of functionality. For instance, I don't believe you'd be able to assign a chroma key to an output. So you'd have to build the look and leave it on either program or preview to give you your full keyed look as an output. Not to mention it's also taking away one of your 2 outputs, which is already giving up a ton.
