Former Texas LEOs Josh and Bill show you how to stop a car in Southland.
Southland is an American crime drama television series[1] created by writer Ann Biderman and produced by Warner Bros. Television. Southland takes a "raw and authentic look" at Los Angeles and the lives of the LAPD officers who police it. The show's first season centers on the experiences and interactions of LAPD patrol officers and detectives, and is more a character-driven drama than a police procedural.
Among the characters are rookie Officer Ben Sherman and his training officer, John Cooper. Detective Lydia Adams, who must balance work with the responsibility of living with her mother; Officer Chickie Brown, who aspires to be the first woman on the LAPD's elite SWAT team; and Detective Sammy Bryant, whose home life interferes with his working life.
After its first season on NBC, Southland moved to TNT network. The second season placed less emphasis on the ensemble cast, instead focusing more on the Adams, Sherman, Cooper and Bryant characters and their partners. The weekly stories also centered more on how crimes came together, with fewer serialized story lines.

Southland was SO freaking good. Definitely at the top of the list of "shows cancelled way too soon". Cudlitz absolutely made the show, but the whole ensemble was fantastic. Wish it was available on streaming.

Cudlitz always said so many things that I've always wanted to say but didn't. The ice cream shop/"I pay your salary" scene is another one that comes to mind.

Another thing about stopping to render aid in this specific scenario (heart attack/stopped heart) is that for every minute without good CPR, the patient’s chance of survival decreases about 10%. So of the backup officer had taken ten minutes to locate the suspect… you do the math.

Southland was actually one of the few entertaining cop show.Without too much soap opera drama. C.Thomas was a bit over the top. Seem like all his roles are like that lately. As for realism of the show.I leave that part up to you guys. Wonder what is most scary for the perp.Running from the cops,r having the copper chasing you,saying he is on your ass..Multiple times

TV's 10-11 is different than real 10-11 codes. In tv 10-11's usually a break-in or armed robbery.

@@OnlyCopswatch Adam 12 (don’t have to do a reaction) and you’ll see. It seems to really be an LA thing when it comes to police shows which is odd cause looking up the LA 10 codes it doesn’t even show that unless they changed and shows use the old version to prevent issues or something.

ik this is 1 year later but I'd like to add on your comments about their ranks which you is definitely NOT "corporal" in the LAPD officera with 2 stripes are considered POLICE OFFICER IIIs also known as TRAINING OFFICERS. officers with 2 stripes and a star under it are considered POLICE OFFICER III+1 which are assigned to either detective school and take the route to detective bureau OR supervisory school which makes take the sergeant route, (three stripes is a Sergeant I it's unanimous around the US I'm sure you're aware) i js wantes to point that out for excess information, that's all. Keep it coming!
@OnlyCops
@OnlyCops 5 месяцев назад
At our department 2 stripes was corporal and you had to have that to be a training officer. A lot of departments have different ranking structures and regulations around that, but generally we take a lot after the military model for designations and ranks.

Biggest myth about traffic stops is that the officers have a quota of how many tickets they have to write. No LEO that I know likes writing tickets. They do however write them because too many people think traffic laws don't apply to them.
@OnlyCops

Couldn't have said it better myself!
@allisoncastle
@allisoncastle 3 месяца назад
Nope. Sorry, you’re just wrong. There is factual evidence that certain police departments have quotas. Not all, and in some states they’re actually illegal, but that does not mean they don’t exist. They exist in many PDs.
