At 7:14 minutes, you strapped down the Ranger while it was on the dyno. Why? I have never seen someone do this. I use to race at the local drag strip and had a race shop build my engines with their dyno. And who the hell cares about "font" on the infotainment screen? If it works, all the better. Sound of your truck doesn't get the job done. When using your it as a work truck, I want my pickup to be quiet as possible as I hear enough loud noises all day long (construction work). That "I need my truck to be loud" is just ego talking.

Everyone is complaining about price so I looked up an FX4 equivalent in the Colorado. $41.600 with a enimic v6, less towing and payload. Less cab room in the crewcab than the Ranger. And the testers say it wasn't very comfortable. Ranger sounds good to me. Besides anyone that pays sticker is a sucker.

I drive an 07 ranger. Had an airbag recall appointment today and couldn't wait to test drive the new ranger. The dealer only had the 4 door, lariat 4x4 which was pretty sweet. +'s, was quick, compact but roomy enough & comfortable. Cons: 1st couple gears jerked a little bit, when turning , would bump a little, right inside armrest was not long enough, I'm only 5' 6", cheap plastic feel on the door hand grips, (not the levers that open the doors bit the handles that you can hold on the door). And this was the premium lariat model. Not to mention the front driver side speaker was blown out. Told the dealer about that. They were offering it for around $38k. Was really looking forward to getting one but definitely not now!

Everyone is complaining about the price. I wouldn't pay that much for on too, but I did buy a new 2001 XLT v6 Ranger. BTW, I'm still driving it with 115k miles. It cost $23,000 back then which is around $34k now and it has zero technology on it. So $35-40k would be about what they cost almost 20 years ago.

Does not matter the make. Does not matter if you fram washed it once a week. The stuff they use on the roads eats everything now. The used trucks around me are only 3k lower in price. Then you wonder how much of beating they took in 15k to 30k. Guy i work with just leases them. But every winter he is doing donuts in the snow. In the summers he does them in mud.

Everyone complaining about the price of the Ford Ranger really haven't done too much research. Yes, you can buy a full-size for a similar price or even cheaper.... a base-model full-size! The fact of the matter is if you don't want to pay 40g for a Ranger you don't HAVE to! They start at $24,300! It should also be noted that some people want a truck that they can actually fit in their garage, or park easily, so they won't be considering any full-size options to begin with. So, with that being said, let's talk about the Ranger's price compared to its other midsize competitors. The base starting MSRP price for each truck from cheapest to most expensive is as follows: Nissan Frontier - $18,990, Chevy Colorado - $22,395, GMC Canyon - $23,295, Ford Ranger - $24,300, Toyota Tacoma - $25,550, Honda Ridgeline - $29,990. Now, If you deck out each truck with the top trim and all the accessories and options, the absolute most expensive you can get each truck's MSRP on their respective websites are as follows: Nissan Frontier - $40,484, Ford Ranger - $48,815, Toyota Tacoma - $53,143, Honda Ridgeline - $54,063, GMC Canyon - $54,160, Chevy Colorado - $57,010. So, compared to its midsize competitors the Ford Ranger's price is by no means outrageous. Especially when one considers what you get with the Ford Ranger. The Ford Ranger boasts the best (gasoline) hauling and towing capacities among midsize pickups (at least until the Jeep Gladiator is released to the public) AND you get that best-in-class performance starting all the way at the bottom with the base 4x4 XL trim, you don't have to buy your way into the best possible performance by upgrading to a more expensive trim with a bunch of extra goodies that you don't really need if all you want is a capable work truck. And for those of you who like off-roading, you can get the off-road FX4 option also on ANY trim level! End of the story is this, with the Ford Ranger you can get midsize performance AND fun without breaking $40,000 like other trucks in it's class if you don't want to. And, unlike every other truck in it's class besides the Frontier, you cant get over $50,000 MSRP if you tried!

You can compare apple to oranges all day till you're blue in the face. Fact still remains that cars and trucks prices have gotten out of control. Why do dealerships have $10,000 plus rebates and mark downs? Cause they aren't selling.
@dave3682
@dave3682 5 лет назад
@@jro2868 What? No. A base model Ford F-150 in 2002 cost $20,715 MSRP which, adjusted for inflation, is $27.962 in today's money. A base model 2019 F-150 today goes for $28,130 MSRP. Not to mention a car from 2002 was just that, a car. Cars and trucks nowadays have so much more technology and creature comforts built into them compared cars from back then and, despite this, when inflation is taken into account, have remained at almost the exact same price. If anything, vehicles today are a much better deal than ever before because you are getting so much more than just a vehicle. Vehicles today arent selling because millennials arent buying new cars. Largely because they cant afford them. Not because the prices have gotten outrageous, because, they haven't.

Oh I did ALLOT of research and test drives. But I also needed leather with some sort of audio upgrade on my purchase. ON the Colorado, to get a Z71, with full leather, 4X4, rear locker, bose, spray bed liner your pushing about 40K easy. A Taco offroad will cost even more. Ford is by FAR the worst making sure leather/B&O upgrades are only on the highest of trims. Yes a whopping 46K with FX4. IN lariat trim the Ranger is not competitive price wise in the mid size segment. Not even remotely so. You say the Ranger is worth the extra money. Well, your wrong. You forgot the hidden jewel in the room fella. Its the Nissan Pro 4X. And before I go any further yes, I owned a Ranger overseas in the Fiji Islands XLT with 3.2 diesel. Nice truck but the I like the Nissan better. Allot better. The Nissan Pro 4X is a tank. Always has been. Uses a chopped Titan frame. Still has the best motor/engine IMO. The mighty VQ 40 that pretty much keeps up with the ecoboost. And its rugged as hell. People put 300K miles on these. God knows if the Rangers 10 speed will be good in the long haul. Already having issues on full size GM/Ford trucks. Now the Pro 4X has bilsteins, 31" all terrain tires, skid plates underneath, descent control, offroad suspension. It keeps up with the Ranger. But drives better onroad. Better steering feel. Does not rock as much. The bilsteins give it a good ride but still gives a truck feel to the ride. The Ranger is much more car like. Steering is more vague. The seats are good on both. Pro 4X also has leather, heated seats, with 8 way power. Also has sunroof. The center stack is so much better on the Nissan. Large buttons and easy to navigate. The ford stack is out of a car most likely. I'm thinking a fusion. Small buttons/hard to read. The stereo is good but so is the pro 4x with 7 speaker rockford fosgate with sub. The power window buttons are slightly positioned aft on the Ranger which means its awkward for the driver to operate. The Nissans are ergonomically correct. The back seat on the Nissan folds flat. The Ranger folds halfway. Just enough to get to jack. WTF? Pro 4X comes standard with a very good spray bed liner (lifetime). The Nissan does have BT/SAT/NAV but the display is not as good as the sync three. But the NAV is standard on the Nissan. Ford charges for every thing. The frontier is a tank. So solid and well made. And now rated the most reliable truck. They are bullet proof. There are only two items that I would like on the Nissan that the Ranger has. And that is Android auto and blind spot alert. The Nissan still has the back up camera and sonar sensors. Anybody reading this forget what Dave said saying you have to pay 46K to get a good mid size. The Ranger is priced excessively high. A XLT with cloth seats, no sunroof, shitty sony 6 speaker stereo (yes I listened to it) with no power seats will cost 4K more then a loaded out Pro 4X. If your ok with getting a few MPG's less, get the Pro 4X. Forget the rest. The tacoma's 6 speed transmission is a gear searching, gutless, hard shifting, early shifting mess. The colorado has the same BS active learning transmission but also has shuddering and torque convertor failures. The Frontier just works. You won't have to worry about things breaking. The last of the heavy duty transmission. Other then the tundra that also uses old school tech but is still killing it. Those two were rated most reliable this year.

Plus once you get to ya dealership they’re not priced to horrible. I’m leaning toward picking one up used. All that being said it looks like the numbers are in. They have had a bad first quarter and much to their regret that’s after the extra shifts to build it. As a die hard Ford fan. I can say I love my Colorado v6/8 speed. Hitting 19.1 mpg in city driving and reached 25.3 on highway drive to California from Az. I still have my 2010 Ranger 4x4 with the 4.0l and 5 spd manual. Great small truck in an old classic way but perfer the Chevy as my everyday driver.

I just bought a brand new 2019 XLT XTR for 33K CDN. So not bad deal. Will concur with what you have said about some of the interior niggles but I have one more to add to the list. The 4x4 selector is wimpy. No definite stops for 2H, 4H and 4L. You can spin it right past 4H into 4L which is not a good thing in my mind. Other reviewers have complained about the small climate controls on the dash but there are also climate control settings on screen so I don`t really see an issue with that. One other thing reviewers do not comment on is the cruise control operation. It`s a little funky. Do not hold down the speed up(+) button or the truck will take off greatly exceeding where you want it to be set. Better to just press release press release until you get to the speed you want to set it at if you want to go faster than the speed you originally selected. Had the truck for about a week now, got after market boards put on as well as a hitch receiver and brake controller (part of the deal) put a DeZeee bed mat in the back, Husky floor liners, and a tonneau cover so good to go. As I will be towing with it I will take a serious look at a tune and exhaust. Ford performance puts out a tuner kit for the Ranger which will not affect warranty so will be taking a look at that in the near future, as soon as I get some pricing. The only other thing I can say to buyers is, if your not aware, the oil filter can only be accessed through the drivers side wheel well which will require the front drivers tire to be removed. This could negate oil changes at your local lube shop. All in all, happy with it so far, gas mileage is ok as long as you stay off the turbo LOL.

35k is a good price for the ranger and most 2wd xlt's are around 33k -36k. You got to remember the Tacoma TRD off road is like 36k and the TRD pro is around 42k and a option out Colorado is about 40k as well. Also this truck is way more advanced than what Ford was selling in 2011 the old ranger was basically a design from the early 90's that stuck around and got facelifted a few times through out the years.

My son drove our sedan right through/over a metal case neighborhood electrical access post, destroying the post. The plastic skid plate on the car was damaged, but protected vital parts. I recently purchased a new 2019 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 SuperCab 301A Sport Appearance Pkg. in Electric Blue, first week of 2020. It was nowhere near $41K. I got into it for around $33K. I believe that Ford adjusted pricing to better meet the market. Sticker was nearly $36K, FWIW. Also FMC financing was offering very attractive rates. I was coming out of a 2016 F-150. The criticisms regarding the left side lack of room are valid, I'm a bigger guy and often find myself shifting around with my left arm, but that's okay because it's good to keep one hand on the wheel at all times. The criticism about the engine noise is valid as well, it sometimes sounds buzzy. then again, my F-150 was equipped with the 5.0, so that's an adjustment, too. I don't have the FX4 pkg., and as such, I find the ride to be very comfortable (again, the 2016 F-150 was a reg. cab, short bed, FX4, tow package, so ride WOULD .be stiffer). I believe this is a fair review, given my experiences for the first 800+ miles with my Ranger. Subjectively, the Electric Blue is the best looking color available for the Ranger, hands down. I have always liked 'Forest Green', wish that it was an option. 'Magnetic' rockers, as a two-tone option on the Sport pkg. would be appealing too. I have experienced a calculated 25.5 MPG (largely highway), and smaller numbers around town (forgot to calculate it, miles by fill up, but I believe that the EPA numbers are fairly accurate. Of note, the tires were inflated, presumably by the factory, at 40psi, and recommendation is 30psi. my truck was built on Monday, July 8th, 2019, according to records, which is the Monday after what was for many, an extra long Independence Day weekend. Hopefully it's not a 'Monday/Friday truck' in the long term.

Right now for 2019, Toyota has at least 3 gasoline engines with dual fuel injection that powers just about all of their line up.
