So glad that Acura is one of the only luxury brands that still hasn’t abandoned physical buttons. I think the only other luxury brand who hasn’t embraced all touchscreen or vocative touch controls yet is Alfa Romeo.

Interior looks a bit basic and plain. For me this has always been the problem with Acura. Honda does not do enough to distinguish the interior from Acura to Honda. After a short research it became clear why the interior looks bland and not like an Acura. The ZDX shares a lot with the Chevy Blazer EV. The ZDX's interior is GM parts bin. You'd think it would share parts with Cadillac being the ZDX is a premium vehicle. Nope, it uses Chevy Blazer interior parts. What a shame!

Acura should slap an electric motor on the rear axle and add a small battery to the Integra. Lots of people just dismiss it as a gussied up Civic (which really that's what it's always been). Might as well actually differentiate it more and turn it into a beastly AWD performance PHEV hybrid. I'd buy one day 1.

Looks good overall, however, I would recommend for honda to review the side profile and perhaps reconsider having the chrome line to terminate at the belt line. With the way the current chrome line terminates, against a black background, it looks like a hearse. Perhaps change the angle of that line so it doesn't have the side profile of a hearse.

⁠@@ytsux9259B&O is awful. Never heard one good sounding B&O. ELS is great and one of the best factory systems. B&O is a huge step backwards. Acura is cutting costs back with B&O. Audi and Ford uses B&O. It’s the most swapped out system for aftermarket systems.

Kirk, thanks for this in-depth review, much appreciated. Great looking vehicle and it will get attention from buyers, particularly the type S. Did you mention how much these cars weigh? Also, about range - this whole topic is relevant only because so many folks are concerned about public charging availability for a vehicle they purchase. A single charging standard and widespread availability of public charging points that support that standard would put this whole range issue to bed and abate the need for ever-larger battery packs in these vehicles.

I saw an RZ in San Jose ca. I couldn’t help but laugh at whoever chose to make such purchase Nobody should be talking about the bz4x or RZ as they’re both objectively nonexistent. They’ve been wiped out by the competition. In fact both are just as relevant as a Mitsubishi Mirage

I like it, however, I would’ve preferred a ZDX hybrid set up as an option that gives us a 3.5 litre V6 with electric motors putting out 500hp this same tech was in the MDX hybrid and RLX Hybrid, That should’ve been the TypeS and the Aspec should’ve been the EV. Something tells me electric motors are easier to manufacture and design over a combustion engine.

I only have 2 issues: The interior is a little "plain jane". I'm not asking for EQS "Vegas Disco" or BMW "Blinding Crystals Everywhere TM" but this just feels like it needs something, especially at that price. The other is that it's being made with GM stuff so how will this get effected by GMs seeming inability to produce in quantity? Probably quite a bit, but I'd love to be wrong.

Sorry but nothing beats the Acura blue colors. The Tiger Eye Pearl won’t age well, where as their blue is so classic. I’m curious to see how reliability will turn out. Pairing with GM wouldn’t have been my top choice but guess we’ll see.

Journalists said fit and finish on the interior of the Lyriq is quite good unlike a lot of outgoing GM interiors. I’m sure with the inclusion of CarPlay and android auto, the lack of SuperCruise, and the use of physical controls will minimize any software issues. GM has also seemed to work out a lot of issues, and is continuing to improve Ultium platform during its launch with the HUMMER EV and Lyriq, so any major drive train issues seems unlikely, as this isn’t a “new” platform anymore.

Massive battery will get you range but that isn’t rocket science. Doesn’t look like too good efficiency for all the kWh’s and weight. Peak of 190kW charge is sad because the average is probably going to be about 100kW getting you back to 80% from near zero in fifty minutes to an hour. They should’ve simply wired the same batteries up for 800V so at least could get to 80% in 35 minutes before the electron hungry drive begins again. 🤷🏼‍♂️ 17:05

Every new Type S that the I've seen in person looks great as far quality, fit, and finish. We'll see how buyers decide on this versus the EV6(and all premium 5 seaters) (had EV9 on my mind).

They really did cut up profile w/ that false roofline and the thick side sills. Well done to the designers. The general problem w/ these EV profiles is they look terrible. Look at the Leaf, the MB EQ* they all have that jelly bean shape. This cuts it up w/ the trickery. Obviously its done for arrow but still.

Just so you know, the Supercruise system in GM cars is different from the Cruise technology they are working on with Honda. Cruise is autonomous vehicles only while Supercruise is level two only. And to confused things more, GM is working on another level two system called Ultracruise which is close to FSD in capability. It adds a Lidar system to it though, so I don't think the Acura or Lyriq will get it in this generation.

I mean, it's cool I guess. I have an 2023 Integra, A-Spec w/ Tech. I got it as soon as the car released. I would've been interested to see what Acura did with a redesigned RDX. Realistically though, my next vehicle is going to be the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona EV whenever that releases.

I think the ZDX is cool & I know electric is here to stay, but I still am not on board with it. I think it's a political push, not a true fix. Hydrogen would be better. What i wish is that Acura would make a 500hp gasoline engine in their mdx, tlx or both. That would be amazing!!! Be interesting to see this when it comes out though. It is definitely gorgeous and a stunning suv & I love Honda/Acura. That's all we own!

I’m diggin it!!! Acura’s (interor and exterior) tend to look better in person versus pictures. That interior shot with the all black was too GM for me and didn’t look as luxurious as their other cars. I do understand it makes sense to share parts than design a whole new interior. The orchid interior looked nice though.

Not the biggest fan. It looks like two completely different cars sandwiched together made more dramatic by the two tone. I wish the top portion was extended out to line up with the rest of the vehicle. Glad they're keeping Apple Carplay/Android Auto unlike GM though.

I"m a huge Acura fan, but hate the design. Looks like a hearse, and the silver body cladding looks like an old Subaru. I'll stick with the MDX until Acura ups their design game on EV's.
